The feeling is right on. Characters don't necessarily have to have love interests. It's not about whether Disney finds them lovable or not but whether it suits the story. It's not that uncommon for Disney's protagonists to be uninvolved in romantic plots, indeed there was a clear shift in direction after the Disney Renaissance to reduce the focus on romantic love and this trend is only now reversing. The Emperor's New Groove, Lilo and Stitch, Treasure Planet, Brother Bear, Home on the Range, Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons and Bolt all did not have romance as an important element.DisneyEra wrote:Both Wreck-it Ralph & Merida from "Brave" have no love intrest. Also, I am not too sure that Frozen will have romance in it. There might be but it will not be the heart of the movie which will probably focus on love between siblings.
I don't really count the animated series or sequels. In Chicken little it was clear that Abby was Chicken little's love interest, as they kissed towards the film's end
In Meet the Robinsons Lewis Love Interest was Franny, as they would marry in the future & have a family.
Wasn't there a love triangle in Peter Pan between Peter, Tink & Wendy. Tink was jealous of Wendy & Wendy was jealous of Tiger Lily. That's right. Since it's known by now Vanellope's a glitch(why a character's a glitch, i'll never know) and doesnt get the respect of her peers, nor can she leave the game.
