Me too. The main issue I have with "Follow Your Dreams" is voice actress Erin Torpey's interpretation of Aurora. Normally the Disney voice department gets things quite close when they need to replicate the vintage character voices but Torpey isn't even a close match for Mary Costa.

The quality of the animation in the first DVD and all the various trailers I've seen is top quality, and extremely favourable to the original films. This series could have been something very special; and I'm surprised Disney hasn't persevered. Clearly they've sunk a lot of money and talent into something that's just going to sit on the shelf... Very sad.

I agree 100%! It's very sad Disney shelved the rest of the volumes. They actually put a lot of heart and thought into the project. I was looking forward to them.

Aloha everyone! I’m fairly new to this community, but I wanted to share my opinion of the Disney Princess Enchanted Tales. I’m a unique Disney fan in that I’m visually impaired. I had normal eye sight until I was ten-years-old. That means I have the images of Jasmine, Ariel, Belle and so on engraved in my memory. Since Jasmine is my second favorite princess, I loved her story the most! I love how we got some info on her Mom and how Jasmine was able to tame Sahara through gentle and humane ways. I also love the song “I’ve Got My Eyes On You

The only thing I didn’t agree with was when Jasmine called her father, “Daddy” during the More Than a peacock Princess song. Jas has NEVER called her father that in any of the movies or TV Series. That’s the only flaw I found in the episode as far as Jasmine is concerned. As for Iago, I missed his usual attitude, but I wasn’t surprised that they toned him down a little. It was disappointing though since I’m used to his personality from the regular TV series.

Now to Aurora’s story. I actually liked her portrayal in her episode. I never liked her much before and her movie was too visual for me. But I liked her in this story. I also liked the song “Keys to the Kingdom.”

I found this video on YouTube, and it discusses this series and what happened to it:

I never realized that the movie isn't even available on Disney+ either. Apparently, the DVD is very hard to find as well (both the original and the Special Edition re-release).

There was a re-release?

It may be different in different territories, but this title is pretty easily/cheaply available in the US on eBay. I bought a new, sealed copy on eBay back in 2021 for about $15. And looking now, most prices range between $5-$15. Disney DVDs are super cheap on the second hand market.

I bought the DVD because I had never owned or watched the original release, and as you mention, it’s not available on Disney+. It was very strange to watch a DTV title based on Sleeping Beauty! And Jasmine’s story is very reminiscent of the TLM episode about Stormy. I think the idea for this franchise was a pretty cool one— new stories featuring beloved Princess characters. But I wish more time, effort, and expense had been put into the storytelling and animation (and music!). Ultimately, I feel the end of this series was really no great loss.

My copy also came with a bonus disc. I don’t recall what was on that disc…

Yeah, then you bought the re-release. I think it had a sneak peek at The Princess and the Frog, and two music videos for Cinderella and Mulan. They re-released it in September 2009 to promote the then upcoming Princess and the Frog.

About the movie itself, I thought it was okay, not terrible, but not great either. What I appreciated about it was that they replicated the art style for both movies very well. But I wasn't too fond of Aurora's singing voice, although her song was pretty catchy. Meanwhile, I was watching a video on YouTube, and they showed a scene from Jasmine's story, where she holds Iago in her hand. They only drew his head, and attached his tail to it.

What they did to Sleeping Beauty and Aurora here was blasphemous. Jasmine's short wasn't as bad but completely redundant, she had better stories in the TV series.

Wow this dreck has 50 pages, didn't realize it was really that popular here...

This website has always (well, at least since I’ve been here) skewed towards people with a lot of interest in Disney Princesses.
