My first DVD, according to the receipts that I have kept, was
Air Force One with Harrison Ford and Glenn Close. From there they have just multiplied as I learned about DVD's and how magical they were.
I have since discovered DVD Recorders (I have worn three of them out because they aren't built like VHS recorders) and have built my collection of DVD's to over 2000.
I am one of the lucky UDers to own all 44 of the Disney Animation Classics. I enjoy a lot of different types of movies, but there isn't one in collection that just sits there. They all get watched at one time or another.

I'm pretty sure my first DVD was The Matrix.
House on Haunted Hill

was a close second (I've since gotten rid of that one).

Mine was <i>Man on the Moon</i>, June 2000. <i>Man on the Moon</i>'s VHS was scheduled to be released a month or so after the DVD. I didn't want to wait (I was far more impatient back then), so I took the plunge and bought my first DVD player. <i>The Green Mile</i> was my second DVD, and <i>Fantasia 2000</i> was my first Disney.

What Dreams May Come. i use to love that movie and I had just gotten my dvd player, which was at the time when most of them were $300 back in (thank god for employee and floor model discounts). I paid $27.99 for the dvd. It's so nice how the overall prices have fallen.

My first DVD was a Christmas gift I got for myself--The Fantasia Anthology. Unfortunately my first DVD player was a piece of crap, which I had to replace before Christmas. Can you imagine watching Fantasia with the audio track constantly de-syncing? Ugh.

Still a good choice for first DVD - or rather a good reason to get into DVD. Fantasia Anthology was not my first DVD, but I guess it could be among my first five or ten.

Disney Duster's First DVD

That's a GREAT question, Dottie. Actually, my very first DVD was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Platinum Edition. In fact, the reason I bought a DVD player in the first place was because of this DVD. After all the advertisements showing how cool the immersive 2-Disc bonus features were, with all the cool menus exploring Snow White's enchanted locations, it's a wonder why so many Disney DVD collectors didn't get this DVD when it came out. I bought the DVD and my DVD player the very same day, at Blockbuster. I think there was some deal going on that made the player a little cheaper. Screw wondering if DVDs would "catch-on". If you like Disney, and want to have the "All-New Immersive 2-Disc DVD Experience", what are you waiting for?

According to
this thread, my first DVD purchased was The Lucy Show (10 episodes PD, Madacy release), and Charade (PD, Madacy release).
First Disney DVD was Swiss Family Robinson, though a couple weeks ago in the Review feedback thread I said it was Tuck Everlasting. It's one or the other, very early on in 2003.

My first DVD ever was The Fast and the Furious. To tell you the truth, I don't even like that movie all that much, but it was released on DVD right around the time that our family first got a DVD player, around 5 or 6 years ago now I would imagine. I remember going to K-Mart just looking to pick up ANY DVD just so I could watch something on the new DVD player, and "The Fast and the Furious" had just been released so that's what I picked up.
My first Disney DVD was The Lion King: Platinum Edition. This was long before I was the Disney fanatic that I am today though. I loved Disney, but not like I do today. The Lion King was/is my favorite so I picked it up!
