I'm excited about Lady and the Tramp being the next PE. I'd rather have The Little Mermaid come first but this movie is also really good. I watched it for the first time last month and actually enjoyed it. It's not one of my favorite Disney movies but it is one I found really good and would like to buy.

I believe Lady and the Tramp is a very good film. I hope that it will have a gift set with it. I was pretty disappointed with Bambi not having a gift set, but either way, the DVD will probably be very good indeed (ONLY IF THERE IS AN AUDIO COMMENTARY!)

Lady and the Tramp is the "next" PE? No it isn't? Isn't Cinderella coming way before L&T? Or then I missed the point, sorry.

I'm waiting for this as much as I wait for Cinderella, both are films that I watched when I was small and there's so many nice memories around these movies. I want both of them (now!), but it's nice to know that there's not more than just four months til the release of Cinderella and a little bit longer til Lady and The Tramp. :D

Oh yes, I just said that because Roklie said Cinderella was coming out in only four months. But maybe you're in a different location, Roklie, and it's coming out sooner there?

I love this movie! THis was the first Disney movie I owned on VHS as a kid (one of the first movies I owned period), and the only limited issue DVD I have (lucky enough to have found a legit copy on eBay for a really good price last year).
My sisters gave my HS girldfriend and I a graduation dinner party based on this movie. It was a spaghetti dinner. They decorated the room to look like the restaraunt and played Bella Notte and everything.

Isn't coming in October, then there's just something like four months til the release of it? I didn't mean that it'll come out in four months but after four months, and yes, I live in Europe. I don't know about the future releasedates for these PE's, but Bambi had it's release in Finland five days before the US.

Has anyone thought of the bonus features that they'd like to see included? Seems like an interesting movie for bonus footage. Not once have I seen any mention of possible deleted scenes / songs, history of, making of etc... And who would do the commentarry?

I believe a promotional making of clip featuring celebrity Peggy Lee (who wrote the songs/voiced some of the characters) exists, so that could end up on the disc. I also know that an abandoned concept on the film was that the film took placed in a land where humans were pets and dogs were owners, so that could feature as well. As for an audio-commentary, I know that it could be made up of various archival sound clips of people who worked on the film (possibly even Walt himself) probably linked by a film historian narrating like on some of the Walt-era audio commentaries (Peter Pan, Snow White, Dumbo).

All good, but so far isn't enough for a 2 disker. Seems every bonus that'll pop up will be a surprise (for better or worse). What features did it have on Laser Disk?

I believe the only bonus feature on the laserdisc was the previously mentioned Peggy Lee clip, so that will probably be the only thing which could be ported over. I'm sure there's bags full of material deep inside the Disney archives that I don't know of, so that will probably pad out the disc.

And there are two legitimate versions of the film that should be presented on the DVD (Cinemascope and Academy ratios).

Re: Lady and the Tramp is the next platinum, your opinions?

I know that some people would have wanted The Little Mermaid to have come first (myself included), but I'm still extra glad that this is definetely coming in early 2006, as in the very likely event that Mermaid is being released a few months after this, I'll have all my Top 10 Disney films on DVD! :D
This is on the site: Lady and the Tramp
2-Disc Platinum Edition re-release coming March 7, 2006
original Limited Issue DVD: 2.35:1, DD 5.1; Review; OOP

I hope they release Little Mermaid next year too in PE.

I agree with most people in that The Little Mermaid should have been released next but I think Disney was thinking about something else. If they release their best selling Platinums at the beginning than no one would buy the last few. They have to hold out some of the best towards the end in order to keep people interested in the entire line and buying the collection. Im actually kinda glad that Lady and the Tramp will be released next because I havent seen it in so long and I think it has really been forgotten. Hopefully a new generation will be able to enjoy as much as the others.

(But I know most of us would have bought all of them no matter what order they were released :) )

I know.

What Im trying to say is that if Disney released Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast first then some people wouldnt care about the rest because they would have already gotten their favorites.

But there are so many of us, including the many, many older americans who treasure the original Disney, so I doubt that w/the releases of them, they would lose any business. My mom does not like too many if any of the newer Disney, but she would love to have all the older Disney.
