I can't decide if that's a joke or if you're serious.
Well, that's what the magazine says...

That's kind-of gross. It's not like
Bambi has any real "musical"-esque songs.

I could see Bambi as a very good ballet, but in no way as a musical.

I can't wait to see this one! The music from the Little Mermaid is amazing...and to see it in a full stage show will be great. It will be interesting to see how they get the underwater effect, but with Disney Im sure theyll do it justice. Anyone know if theyll be using the more advanced costumes with the moving eyes and everything?? (for flounder, Sebastian, etc.)

i loved the song "Beyond My Wildest Dreams", it fit the story so well. it could have been in the original film, i simply love this song. Kerry does a great job with the vocals, I hope she gets the role of Ariel.

I found this video on YouTube of Hong Kong's stage show
The Golden Mickeys. From this clip it looks like it was a lot more elaborate than the cruise ship version!
Anyhow, this clip is from the "Under the Sea" segment of the show and Ariel's performance is quite spectacular. I wonder if this is the same technique that will be used for the Broadway show.

I remember listening to the demo a while ago (got the songs on a page that disappeared a week or so later) and thinking it was pretty good. Since it’s just demo, the singers/actors are subject to change, but Ariel and Sebastion probably had the
least satisfying vocals. Eric’s voice sounded great, Scuttle’s was satisfying, Triton’s sounded as good as one could expect (which wasn’t spectacular) and Ursula’s was incredible. The only problem with Ursula’s was that the actress didn’t have an aged voice (but I can live with that). As for the songs themselves, again Ursula gets some of the best (aside from Ariel and Eric‘s duet). I was rather disappointed that Ariel herself didn’t get more chances to sing (since she
is the title character). But, again, the demo’s subject to change.

I love Disney on Broadway! I saw The Lion King last year in Chicago. I still want to see Tarzan and Beauty and the Beast.
Actually i currently have a role in a production of The broadway version of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, I play the young prince, villager, and a fork.
anyway
Does anyone know when we can expect a Broadway Cast Album of The Little Mermaid?

I stumbled across this while browing IMDb's Little Mermaid board: lyrics to all of the songs in the show. What seems to worry me is that the complete "Part of Your World" does not seem to be in this show. I'm not just basing it off of this. Elsewhere, I read a complete listing of the songs in the show, and there was only the reprise, not the full version. Now that it's happened here again, I can't help but worry...
Act I
Act II

I highly doubt that they'd leave it out. We all know how many direct comparisons have been made between that song being similar to an essential type of song in broadway musicals. Maybe since they've only had demos out, they purposely left it off the demo because it isn't ready.
Demos have a tendency to change a lot.
Of course with more than one source pointing to the fact that only the reprise is used, this is a bit worrysome. Hopefully its not definite that it isn't being used. It has to be used, its one of the strongest parts of the movie, and would be vital to the show.

Wow! A stage show of The Little Mermaid?? That is amazing, and very exciting I might add. I saw the Lion King in Lansing, MI while it was on tour and it was absolutely amazing. Granted, the Lion King is my favorite Disney film so I might be a little biased, but I thought the show was phenomenal. Everything was so amazing: the costumes, the lighting, th5e actors, the sets... EVERYTHING! Tickets were around $75 a piece, but let me tell you it was well worth it. If you ever get a chance to see this show, DO IT!!! I heard they were bringing Tarzan to the stage, which is guess is pretty cool. I don't know, Tarzan isn't one of my favorite Disney films by any means, but I'm sure it would be cool on stage. As for The Little Mermaid, I will be interested to see what they come up with for this show. When I first heard The Lion King was going to be on Broadway, my initial reaction was "how the heck are they going to pull that off?" BUT, they did it, and they did it very well, so I have all the confidence in the world that the stage Production of The Little Mermaid will be very creative, very visually appealing and totally amazing as a whole. VERY EXCITING?? I always figured Aladdin would be coming sooner than later. I wonder why they haven't done Aladdin yet, does anyone know???

I am actually old enough to audition for the role of Ariel...
Alas I do not live in NYC....
Maybe in a couple years, as I won't grow anymore between then and now.

Put a red wig on Idina Menzel and she would make a perfect Ariel. I am a big fan of hers so I may be a little biased, but I think it could work!!

I think Kerry Butler is perfect for the choice of Ariel, she did a great job on the demo.
I thought some woman named Jodi Benson voiced Ariel...

I believe that is actually Celia Keenan-Bolger singing, not Kerry Butler.

Yea, I think Celia is on the demo, but a lot of people are hoping for Kerry. I think either of them would be fine. And as much as I too love Idina Simba3, I don't think she would be right here.

totallyminnie86, I did admit that I was being a little biased. ha ha

it would be interesting to see Idina as Ariel, but it will probably never happen. i am curious to see how all the costumes are going to look, Sebastian and Ursula in particular. I wonder how they will do Flotsam and Jetsam??
