Hopefully all this will mean Disney will stop the Florida re-location of some employees, that way DeSantis will end up losing jobs and tax money for the state over his extreme hatred of minority groups. It's a shame there are monsters who choose to make children's lives hell just to get more love from homophobes. I'd pretend to be surprised, but I'm not.

This crisis has been years in the making. Disney has walked a fine line between profiting off of minorities while simultaneously funding hate.
But speaking as someone that works for one of the media giants, people are finally waking up to this corporate hypocrisy. The employees are fed up being forced to go to diversity trainings while the entire senior management layer is just a bunch of white guys. And then being told to censor content.
These things don’t rhyme. People are sick of it.
Things are pretty much like on HBO’s Succession.

This was an interesting read. I'm not sure if transforming Disney into a tech company is a wise decision or if it's even feasible. It seems so far away from Disney's roots and what they're known for.

^ Are other companies having this, what seems like an identity crisis? I know that HBO Max and Discovery+ are combining, so I think their parent companies have merged/will merge. I agree that focusing on tech and distribution channels seems far away from creativity but I imagine a lot of companies have to be doing that.
This is worth reading. We'll see what kinds of new content comes out of this. And good for being against anything in Texas these days. More of a dumpster fire than FL if that's possible.

When Peter Rice was at 20th Century Fox, he was known for creating strong relationships with filmmakers. Baz Luhrmann and Danny Boyle are two directors he has been credited with supporting. He also helped get the ball rolling on the X-Men movies and was around when Blue Sky started making features. He also ran Fox Searchlight for several years and helped get movies like Slumdog Millionaire, Juno, Little Miss Sunshine and Sideways released and turned into successes.
So he's someone who understands how to produce entertainment, has a good working relationship with directors and a solid understanding of the business side. That makes him a fitting candidate to run an entertainment company like Disney over someone like Bob Chapek, who by all accounts, is mostly interested in numbers and cutting costs as much as possible.
No, Rice isn't someone with a strong Disney background, but Frank Wells had no relationship to Disney at all before he became President and he did an excellent job running the company. Michael Eisner also had no background at Disney before he was brought in to be CEO and he also did well for several years (only near the end was his decision making not the best, in my opinion).
I maintain the Disney board messed up not appointing Peter Rice as Bob Iger's direct successor. A lot of the decisions that Chapek has been raked over the coals for probably wouldn't have happened under Rice.

Disney+/Metaverse = "riding" theme park rides on your TV seems neat. I guess like the ride on the TLM 2006 DVD? Or like YouTube videos of "first-person rider" on rides?
And it sounds like when the time comes, Hulu and Disney+ will be merged, like how the Hotstar service has done. When he said that overseas has had zero issues with that, I assume he's talking about parental locks and whatnot, which Disney+ has had for a few months now when
Deadpool and other Marvel Fox/Netflix stuff came on D+.

This is why their films nowadays look the way they do

He may have expressed it clumsily, but he's not wrong that Disney+ is in need of general entertainment content to remain competitive. Let's face it, even adults who love animation need variety.

That's why in 2024 we have Disney+ making original content in the US for adults like Marvel Zombies and maaayybbeee Daredevil: Born Again.
