Now realizing that if Toy Story 4 wins in both Best Animated Feature and Best Song categories, it will be the same as the 83rd Academy Awards (except Tangled might have been nominated had it been five animated films nominated at the time).

I really doubt it'll win Best Song but I think Best Animated Feature is likely.

You were right that the animation community loves Klaus, estefan. It won seven Annies including Best Animated Feature and Best Director. I Lost My Body was the second most awarded film with three (Independent Animated Feature, Writing and Music). Frozen 2 won two (Effects and Voice Acting for Josh Gad), while Toy Story 4, Missing Link and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World went home empty-handed.

You can check out all the winners here: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lists ... rs-1269738

Overall, I'm quite pleased with the results. It's refreshing to see the animation community support hand-drawn and indie animation. I wish Weathering With You and Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure didn't leave completely empty-handed but what can you do. Josh Gad didn't deserve to win in the voice acting category. His performance was more of the same whereas Tony Hale as Forky brought something new to the table. This is one of the rare instances for me where I believe Pixar deserved an award more than WDAS.

I'm so glad Klaus was successful! I hope Disney is seeing how Klaus and Into the Spiderverse have both been outshining their recent films.

I agree that Tony Hale would have won. I actually really like Josh Gad and his Olaf a lot but I wasn't feeling his performance in Frozen II.

I'm quite pleased with the results too. I'm also glad that a traditionally animated feature (and a Spanish one :D) won. I think Toy Story 4 is perhaps a bit better than Klaus quality-wise, but Klaus's story is more original and they were brave to make it in 2D, so I think its win is very deserving too. Curiously enough, the film lost at the Spanish equivalent of the Oscars this weekend to Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles, another Spanish hand-drawn animated production.

Regarding Josh Gad's award, I also think Tony Hale deserved it more, especially because Josh already won the same award for the first Frozen.

I love him as Olaf too, but even I found him a little annoying at times in Frozen 2. Though I think it's more due to the script than to Josh's performance. They put jokes with him at inappropriate moments to try to compensate for the more serious tone of the film and it didn't work as well as in the first movie in my opinion.

Klaus has won the BAFTA for Best Animated Film! :o This is the first time a 2D-animated film won in the category. The Lion King lost the Special Visual Effects award to 1917. While 2019 was Disney's year at the box office, it certainly wasn't on the awards circuit.

I'm glad Klaus won. I'm surprised it's the first 2D film to do so. Though, I've checked it and the Oscars have only awarded one hand-drawn feature so far as well (Spirited Away). It would be great if Klaus got the Oscar too. It could maybe inspire other studios to make their own traditionally animated films. Though, if Toy Story 4 wins, I'll be happy too.

Well, they can still win at the Oscars, which are the awards that really count.

Oh, I'm so happy for Klaus! That's my favorite animated movie of the year!

Disney, pay attention! Hand-drawn is successful!

At the end of this video, the director and the producer of Klaus say that they're planning to make more 2D films after this one.

I guess their check wasn't cleared last year. With that being said no one here would have said the same thing about Frozen II had it been the one that won.

I loved Toy Story 4, but...

Their “win” wasn’t really fair. :(

Was rooting for Klaus but Toy Story 4 was my second choice so very pleased. Bob Iger certainly seemed satisfied. They cutaway to him multiple times.

I really liked Toy Story 4. The ending just ruined it for me. If they wanted Bo back so bad, just give it a short.

And with THREE ORIGINAL movies against two corporate movies, you think the Academy would be more respectful and open-minded to the animation industry.

I haven't seen any of the movies on the lest (except for the first half of Klaus), so I can't say if the best movie won or not. But I still have Brave fresh in mind. That movie won just because it was a Pixar feature. Have the award process changed since then? I don't know, but personally I find it most likely that the answer is no.

Well, I think most of the people who vote in this category are animators, and a lot of them work for Disney, so they feel compelled to vote for one of their properties. I also suspect more Academy members saw TS4 than the others... and many who didn't see it know (and love) the property, so they may have voted without seeing it.

I thought TS4 was my second choice, but I was rooting for Klaus.

And Fareb, I'm not sure what you mean with your Frozen 2 comment.
