Duster, thank you for sharing this trailer! Somehow, I missed it so if you hadn’t posted it, I might not have watched it!
Anyway, I think it looks better than I ever expected? Even Ariana. My big reservation, that I keep returning to is, why two parts??
But I’m very much looking forward to this.

About the 2 parts, director Jon Chu said:
As we prepared the production over the last year, it became impossible to wrestle the story of 'Wicked' into a single film without doing some real damage to it ... As we tried to cut songs or trim characters, those decisions began to feel like fatal compromises to the source material that has entertained us all for so many years. We decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one 'Wicked' movie but two! With more space, we can tell the story of 'Wicked' as it was meant to be told while bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys for these beloved characters.

I think the trailer looks great; I'm really looking forward to this.

Yes, this film looks much better than I would have expected. I would've seen it even if it had looked bad, but it's good to know it'll probably be a good one. Plus, it'll make that split between two films easier--that would've been harder to bear if the film looked just average.
Sorry about your theater closing, Duster. The one I always used to go to (that I saw TP&TF, Moana, Tangled, Frozen, etc. at) was done in during 2020. Sometimes the world feels very strange these days.

Amy, thank you for sharing that. I guess my fear is the creatives are just saying that, but really they are willing to sacrifice plot structure and pacing to make more money at the box office. I really hope that isn’t the case, though. I want to love it.

That's a good point. I think this director did a great job with In the Heights, and I'd like to think he is respectful towards the property!

I am so glad I helped you get to see the trailer, Brelly! I also completely agree with everything you and Divinity said about this looking so good, even Ariana (and that I would have seen it anyway! It's my fave musical!), and reservations about it being two parts, but having faith. And thank you, Divinity, sorry your theater closed as well, and I also agree about the world. As I get older, things really change.

I can't wait for this movie to come out. I love the musical and I think that they are doing a good job. The only thing that I can't understand yet is the decission to make two movies instead of one. I read last week that the first part is going to be around 140 minutes. The first act of the musical is not so long if I don't remember bad so I think that they are going to include lot of new things to make it longer. However is not neccesary to modify the story much because I think that it works well as it is.
I also hope that they are not going to release another trailer. The last one tells too much, almost all the first act.

Just watched the newest trailer. That music just sends me straight back to middle school. I’m still so worried about them expanding the first and second acts to fill two whole movies, but I hope they’re wonderful. The past couple of years, my family has kinda started a tradition of seeing a movie on Thanksgiving and I’m throwing my (witch’s) hat in the ring for Wicked this year.
I can’t believe the original Broadway production is 21 years old! And Hamilton turns 10 next year… where is my youth??
My co-worker visited the Land of Oz attraction in North Carolina yesterday and sent me pictures. I’ve always wanted to go and it’s not too far from where I live.

I've been watching these days some posts of the Oz park and I have to say that I would like to go. Sadly I'm from Europe and It would be a expensive journey only to see this park.
About expanding the plot I have to say that I am worried too but I think that Universal knows what to do with these movies. They trust so much in this universe and the proof of it is all the merchandise and the great campaign that they are doing.
I only hope that the new songs fix well with the rest of the soundtrack!

Land of Oz is about three hours away from Dollywood! Not exactly a hop, skip, and a jump, but probably quicker than it took Dorothy to get from Munchkinland to Oz at least! But it might make a trip more appealing if you could visit both attractions. There’s lot to do in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area, too, besides Dollywood. Lots of shopping, and American southern food, and “moonshine.” And other attractions like Ripley’s Aquarium and the Titanic museum (my friends and I are going to Dollywood this weekend and we’re also visiting the Titanic museum which will be my first visit). It’s touristy, but it’s a unique slice of American Appalachia and it’s fun. I can’t speak for Beech Mountain (Land of Oz area) since I’ve never been there— I know in the winter season, it’s a ski town. Which is partly why Land of Oz was built, to give tourists a reason to come when there was no snow.
There is sooooo much merch and I want all of it. I’m not in a great position this year to purchase any of it, though. I’ll definitely buy the 4Ks when they come out! I hope one cover is all pink and one is all green. I think they’d look very smart on my shelf!

It sounds really good to visit! Maybe I will go if I can afford it!
I will buy the 4K too, I hope for a beautiful design for the steelbook.

Wow, 21 years old!
I had not heard of a modern, new park about Oz. I should look into it! When was it built? I hope you can go some day, Brelly and Thumpy!
Good idea about pink and green home video designs, Brelly! But I would probably buy just the steelbook, especially if it had a great design, Thumpy!

It’s not very new, at all, Duster! You’ve actually probably heard of it: the Land of Oz is the “abandoned” Wizard of Oz theme park that was built in North Carolina in the 70’s. It
was abandoned for a long time, but it’s been maintained and hosted guests several times a year for a while now. Here’s their website with pictures and videos, I think it looks pretty well done:

There is also another land under construction at Abu Dabi inside a Warner Bros park. This one looks really good.

I was wondering if it was the abandoned one, Brelly! It is so nice to see it revitalized and visited! Thank you for the link, I would love to visit, especially while they are doing that show! And it's so cute seeing those kids dressed up as their favorite characters!
Interesting place at Abu Dhabi, Thumper!

Speaking of Oz-ian theme park attractions, Wicked experiences, food, and merch are coming to Universal parks
https://wdwnt.com/2024/09/wicked-univer ... hollywood/
There’s so much development happening in Florida’s Universal parks. I wonder, if these movies turn out to be financially successful, if Universal would consider building a Wicked-themed land of Oz in one of their theme parks?

It would be amazing. It could fix in the new park that they are building.
