In my opinion i think its an ok film.
I just didnt enjoy it all that much and im not sure what it is about it i dont like.....

It just came out on 2 disc SE here in the UK.....but i just dont think i enjoyed the movie that much to own it on dvd.

Correct me if I am wrong. But the true story of Pocohontas went something like this...

She was a pre-teen. John Smith was in his 30s and a drunk. He was captured. Pocohontas did throw herself on top of him. There was an unwritten rule (actually everything with Native Americans was unwritten), that because she pleaded for his life, it would be spared. But then he became like a slave for her. He had to help her with daily chores. He was allowed to go free. Got back to the fort. During a battle, got too close to the barrel of gun powder, it exploded, damaging his leg badly. So he was sent back to England. No kiss goodbye. A few years later, she met John Rowlfe, they fell in love, she went to England, had a couple of kids, started a trip back to Virginia but died of smallpox.

My thoughts exactly. The songs, animation were great, and the characters were well-developed. It might be historically inaccurate (I did an 8 page paper on Pocahontas for my history class last semester.), but then again, when is it Disney's style to leave the stories as they are in history?

Since I've never seen the film, I've been waiting for this 10th Anniversary Edition, since it was announced. I can't wait to see it!

The only thing I can say for certain is that I LOVE Vanessa William's version of "Colors of the Wind".

Food for thought: Why would anyone expect a Disney feature to be accurate when history shows that's not Disney's strong side? Plus, why would Disney show a 12 year old falling in love with a 30+ year old man? It just doesn't fit Disney.

It's historically inaccurate, and not that good, but I still love it anyway. And this new DVD will finally rectify the horrible mistake Disney made of cutting If I Never Knew You out of the film. Ugh.

lets see a 'more accurate' version of the legend when THE NEW WORLD comes out in theaters...the trailer is available..go check it out

When I watch Pocahontas, I fell all good inside, It is by far my favriote disney movie ever made, and I don't think one will top it yet, My sister thinks I't the most boring disney movie, and likes the adventure of aladin better. I love the love story, I love pocahotas her courage, she is a hero, the best disney has ever had I LOVE Pocahontas, and forever will!

I like Pocahontas its one of my favorites.

I like it. It's not one of my favourites, but I enjoy it will be buying the collector's edition on eBay when I find the money.

I'm not an American citizen and do not know... well, hardly anything... about the English settlers and Native Americans of Jamestown, so it doesn't bother me whether its historically accurate or not

I guess it was ok, but I don't know... just wasn't really that interesting to me... I just didn't like it that much for some reason.

I definiteley love this movie, and can't wait for having it on DVD!

I love this movie, too! I've defended it so many times, that I'll be brief.

Pocahontas is great because it's beautifully animated, it's got great songs, distinctive characters, and an interesting story. As a movie it's highly entertaining. Comparing it to history, why does it matter if it's accurate or not? I'd call it Disney's "Sleeping Beauty" of the Renaissance era because they are so similar in style. Sleeping Beauty is another one of my favorites.

When I first saw Pocahontas I was more than simply disappointed (anyway that happened at the age of 11). Now it's one of my favourite movies. The thing I hate most is how Disney Studio made an idiot out of Smith in Pocahontas 2 and the way Pocahontas behaved.
To my mind, Disney's first parts are always better than second - just have a look at Mulan 2, or Pocahontas 2, Mermaid 2, Lilo and Stitch sequel...They are quite good, but still animation, storyline are a bit poor... Lion King 2 is an exception.

It was good but it was lacking in extras big time!

It was good and had some great songs, beautiful artwork but it was kinda untrue to the real story, neverthless it was a fun movie that i have on DVD and the ending was sad.

But does anyone feel that Mulan is a better disney epic than Pocahontas? a better heroine, more emotion, better humor and more adventure.

It was an ok movie. Thats why I can't decide wether to get it or not.
