I don't know if you guys have heard of this one but this is an incredible book release as well! From Disney Music Emporium (the same brand as the Legacy soundtracks).
It's quite expensive but it's certainly a unique collectible with lots of insight into the musical composition of the film. I hope they publish more! Oddly enough, the rights to the film's music are not owned by Disney but rather by a company called Bourne Music Co that the rights were sold to in the 1930's.

Gorgeous. I'd love to have it, but could never afford it. Maybe they'll make one for the 70's to now eventually?

That company almost always releases a cheaper edition after the limited edition versions of their books are released. The cheaper versions are about $50.

You're welcome! Not to overhype it but looking at the other books this company has released, this will be the top Art of Disney book.

I just came back from Cannes, and yesterday, right before leaving, I stopped at a supermarket, and I quickly browsed through the book section, and I found the Sleeping Beauty book, with the updated movie accurate illustrations, and I bought it without giving it a second thought. Needless to say, the illustrations are gorgeous, the characters are on model, and the film's beautiful artistic style is very faithfully reproduced. I'll post some photographs from the book in the following days, to show you the illustrations.

What?! Wow!! Amazon says it still won't be released till September 6th! Well, I have found some books in some places that came out before their official due date. You sure it was the "The Story of Aurora" many-paged book and not the Big Golden Book? And yes, photos would be wonderful to see!

Actually, it's a French version. It's from the Disney Cinema collection. It's a lot bigger than the "Story of" books, but the illustrations are definitely in the same style. It has the 2014 DVD artwork on the cover.
It's this one

Nice cover! It has less pages than the "Story of" books, though.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. It does have fewer pages than the story of books, but it's a lot bigger, and the illustrations featured are gorgeous, especially the one of Aurora pricking her finger.

Oh, thank you! The pictures really are all beautiful! I don't like how they do the "chapter" things like "The Vengence of Maleficent" where they don't have the entire illustration but rather half the illustration and some clipart on the side, but otherwise they look great! You were right, the picture of her pricking her finger is particularly cool looking! However, one thing bugs me. It looks like they just have Maleficent's curse without the magical vision, or even any magic effect. I am hoping very much that in "The Story of Aurora" book, which has more pages, they have the vision of her curse, and then the picture of the king and queen reacting to it comes after. In the last "big" book for the film, they at least had her waving her hand over her glowing staff, just like in the film. They should at least do something like that for these illustrations, too.

Yes, Maleficent's curse is just one page, without the magical effect. But then, there's Merryweather's reply, and the illustration is really beautiful, as she's right next to a lovely vision of a sleeping Aurora. The background is dark blue, and Aurora is all sparkly. You'll see when you buy the book. I didn't want to post that particular image, so that I won't spoil it.

Oh, well actually I have three books with the new Sleeping Beauty illustrations: The Big Golden book, the Read-Along book and CD, and the Step Into Reading book. So I am aware of the very, very lovely Merryweather's gift illustration. I'm surprised you didn't know I had said before I have some of the books. And in the same place I said that, I said I felt it was the only book that actually didn't live up to how great the film looks. Maybe you disagree with that? But I think Snow White's book is still the fairest of them all.

I remember you said you had the book, but I thought thay maybe in there the illustration wasn't so big as in these books, and maybe it's not so noticeable.
I agree with your statement that it doesn't look as great as the film itself, but I do appreciate how they tried to be as faithful as possible. They could have very easily made a book with illustrations that look nothing like the film, instead they created these beautiful homages, where the characters actually look like themselves.
Yes, definitely, Snow White is the best looking one. Just out of curiosity, what is your countdown? Mine would be: Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid and Cinderella. I was kinda disapointed that Cinderella had so few pictures of herself and so much with Lucifer and the mice. I still think it's great.

Oh, ok. Sorry didn't know if you remembered. I'm glad we agree on the illustrations not being as great as the original Sleeping Beauty film. You are right they could have just given us poor illustrations. I do think that sometimes the characters don't look quite on-model, epsecially in Cinderella. Perhaps I'm the only one who thinks that because it's my favorite film, lol.
Hm, as for my order, I will try to remember to look at them all again and decide. I have to go somewhere for this weekend.
I, too, was so bothered they had so many pictures of the mice and cat over Cinderella's main story! This isn't the case in the other Cinderella books, just the "Story of" one. The words say "after many dances" Cinderella and the prince fall in love. We don't get one picture of them dancing! Lol
