The Oscars are more likely to award Robert Lopez, a celebrated Tony award winning composer than Bono I think. The Globes are more about big names, hence why Bono won.
There's a reason Taylor Swift wasn't nominated....
Her song sucks.

Taylor Swift wrote a song for one of last year's movies?

Let It Go was robbed at the Golden Globes. I'm still bitter about that. The only reason the U2 song won was because it was from a movie about Mandela. I bet had he not died Let It Go would have won. Of course this is just my opinion and not fact.

I hope Frozen, Let it Go, and Get a Horse win the Oscar.

Robert Lopez has just revealed on his Twitter that Frozen has won Best Animated Feature and "Let It Go" won Best Original Song at the Critics Choice Awards.
Their Oscar chances just keep going higher and higher.

No love for Pixar this year. I would've thought that The Blue Umbrella would've gotten a Best Animated Short nomination.
Disney is really on an upswing, though Frozen is facing a tough call with The Wind Rises.

Yeah, is there a technical reason Blue Umbrella didn't get nominated? I honestly don't understand who would nominate "Get a Horse" over "The Blue Umbrella." It was entered, right?

This is basically the last time WDAS has to win the Best Animated Feature oscar. This year HttyD2 has it locked up, considering the first film was nominated. And don't feel bad for Pixar. They already have 2015 & 16's oscar locked up with Inside Out/The Good Dinosaur & of course Finding Dory. I can't see BH6 & Zootopia winning this award. You notice how Pixar & Miyazaki never went head to head for this award. The Academy had many chances over the last 2 years to give an oscar to one of WDAS revival films: Tangled sould have won Best Song, but the Academy goes & gives that oscar to TS3. And WiR would of been the best WDAS film to win this award, but once again they gave it to Pixar. Pixar has won this award 7 damn times already, with 2 more coming after this year. As for Miyazaki, he's already won this award, nor does he care. Steve Hulett said in a resent post Moana is 7 years away, & Giants has not been officially announce by Disney. If Frozen doesn't win now, WDAS will NEVER win this award, at least not in this decade.
Still, Frozen already won though. It has the Golden Globe & is basically a lock for the BAFTA animation award "it's going up against The Croods & MU". SO at least its won something

Whoa! Slow down there! We haven't even seen trailers for any of those movies (except HTTYD2). Some of the titles you mentioned are so far out they could completely change direction (in every sense) by the time they're completed. I have a good feeling about all of the titles WDAS is currently working on. They seem competitive enough for me.

Sequels are not guaranteed the nomination even if the previous films were nominated. Case in point: Shrek the Third, Cars 2, and Happy Feet 2.
Plus, the next Pixar movies could be underwhelming. Why, Finding Dory could just be 90 minutes about Dory finding herself.

HttyD2 is clearly gonna be the big animation blockbuster this year. BH6 is still a big unknown. It could go either way. I'm hoping it's Boxoffice is more The Incredibles & less Megamind. But I don't see it beating the sequeal to HttyD. And Pixar will win for 2015 & 16. 2 original films & a sequeal to Finding Nemo, no chance.

I would. I did not enjoy The Blue Umbrella at all.

Considering the critical praise the 1st Dragon got, I don't see this one being worse. That would be a huge blow to Dreamworks Animation. Besides The Croods, what other original film from Dreamworks since HttyD has been a hit?
As for Pixar, seeing what they did with Brave, Boxoffice Blockbuster & Oscar win, their future films will clearly do no worse.

With Ralph and Tangled loosing out on everything, this makes me worried, but we have a higher chance, still it still could easily go to something else that they prefer.
During the nominations there was a few claps and cheers for Despicable Me 2 , and when Frozen was announced there was not even a whisper in the audience, not even a cheer.
Best song, again, highly doubt Let It Go will win, but we'll see...
anyways i feel sick from the nerves and it's not even close to March yet

Yup the HttyD movies have a massive fanbase and is also viewed as good in eyes of the awards. Imo, this could be Disney's year, but then DreamWork's comeback in Jan 2015 with Dragons. BH6 is going to have to be pretty damn impressive in the eyes of many to bump Dragons off it's throne.

*shrugs* To each his own. I understand that Blue Umbrella had a similar plot to Paperman, but I still think it was charming and well done. Ooh, and I love the score too. With "Get a Horse," I was very impressed with the 2D parts (I actually thought they were using a recycled classic short), but I just felt like I was getting bashed over the head with slapstick once it went to 3D. I do appreciate the concept though.

Besides Croods and HTTYD, Kung Fu Panda was a pretty big hit. Anyhow, I really am hoping Dismey and Frozen take home the gold.

If Disney can't win this year there is no hope for them ever. I never really bought the supposed anti-Disney bias from the Academy before considering the circumstances of each year before this.
2009 - The Princess and the Frog got a nomination but wasn't winning against Up.
2010 - Tangled wasn't even nominated because Toy Story 3 sucked up all the attention resulting in only 3 nominees. Nothing had a shot against it.
2011 - Winnie the Pooh bombed.
2012 - I know everyone thinks Wreck-It Ralph was robbed (I agree) but Brave definitely got more press attention for being Pixar and having two female leads. It was always the favorite, but I bet it was relatively close.
Prior to those years there really wasn't anything Disney could compete with since the category was created.
I know Disney fans are used to being pessimistic but Frozen is the CLEAR favorite this year, with strong reviews, A LOT of press attention, a much better than expected box office performance, and the weakest competition in years. The Wind Rises could win, but it's still a Japanese film about a controversial subject and hasn't been as well received as Miyazaki's best work, and he's not retiring anymore. I don't see it.
Unless something else starts winning the precursors (Frozen has picked up the Golden Globe and Critics Choice this week), then it would be a complete shock if Frozen lost.
I actually think Let It Go is still the favorite too, but not as much.

I wouldn't count HTTYD2 as a shoo-in just yet either. It could end up like Cars 2 and Monsters University, both sequels/prequels that got snubbed when Pixar is generally much more favored by the Academy than Dreamworks. If it's actually worth the hype then yeah it'll stand a strong shot. No Pixar next year either.

I think it was absolutely APPALLING that Tangled didn't get nominated for Best Animated Feature; one of the biggest wrong-doing in Academy history for me. I See The Light should have won (Newman only got it as he didn't get it for Friend In Me), but at least it was nominated.
But then Tangled did win a Grammy randomly which is still something
I hope Frozen wins, and it should.
