So are they going to be crowned as official Disney princesses or what?

Eventually. I think we'll probably see it happen next summer. It took some time for Rapunzel and Merida to be crowned after their films as well.

I thought Rapunzel became a Princess when her DVD came out, if I'm not mistaken ? So wasn't that long after her theatrical debut. Though I may be completely wrong, but pretty sure it was at Kensington Gardens when the DVD was coming out ….

Disney Poland is holding an event called "Disney Princess Festival" and is including Frozen. There's also a commercial for it.

I really wish they'd soften her expression now. She always looking like she's smirking ?

I wonder when Anna & Elsa will become 2D; how long was it before we saw Rapunzel in 2D form ?

Anna and Elsa were featured in the commercials for "I Am a Princess" Weekend on Disney Channel last month:

It's nice to see Tiana on the commercials. I thought Disney had excluded her for good. And Disney are certainly proud of Merida, since she's in the commercials as well.

Now that you mention it, Elsa's design is somewhat Dreamworks-esque. However, I was never satisfied with her design in the first place. In the teaser poster she looks like she's stepped right out of a Tinker Bell-movie.

I thought so, too. Thank God they don't use that specific artwork of her too often on merchandise. At least, the ones I see in stores. But in more recent artwork, she looks much better.

Thanks for agreeing.

Although I'm not a fan of Anna's design either, I think her design is more Disney-esque than Elsa's.

The Disney Store dolls are better then the mattel ones. I just got Anna and Elsa from the Disney Store and they had tons of Anna and Elsa dolls ,but I don't think they will last long cause they might sell out quickly.

yeah I think the "pixie" design works ok for Anna but Elsa needed a more mature design, she looks too cutesy, she needed to look more like Esmeralda or Pocahontas, maybe Belle. Of course those elegant designs arent as kid friendly and appealing as cuter rounder designs like Anna's, the Disney fairies, or Ariel. I really hope they dont repeat the design for Moana and Giants.

also have you ever noticed how weird Anna and Elsa look in profile? :|

Yes, they do.

I thought the pixie design was used because it's easier to translate into CGI and animate. I don't hate the Tinker Bell designs, but I expect more from a canon Disney feature.

in profile they remind me of what alot of anime female characters look like, big forehead, tiny pointed nose, small mouth, pointed jawline...and yes I think part of it is that the more cartoony style probably looks more pleasing in CGI...the more mature realistic designs might look too stern and video game like, like you see in Final Fantasy games...but I think good artists can pull of a more mature look in CGI if they really put the effort in it...

I disagree. I think Elsa is more appealing because she looks like what you'd usually expect from Disney these days for their female characters (small frame, thin waist, big eyes, blonde) which imply weakness and fragility, and yet she's mature and powerful. I think saying she has to look like Pocahontas or Esmeralda to be "mature" is a touch insulting, even though I know you don't mean it that way. The maturity is innate and not described by appearance, which pretty much goes with the bait-and-switch game of appearances being played deliberately in the movie.

I mean that a woman doesn't have to look like Esmeralda or Pocahontas to be mature. But, like I said, I don't think you mean it that way, but it seems implied.

oh... well not in real life (I guess you mean a woman who looks cute and babyish not getting as much respect as one who doesnt?)

I just think Elsa could have been a nice opportunity for them to try a more, I dont know what to call it... elegant? sophisticated? style, not something that looks like it was designed for the Tinkerbell films...like I look at some of the old concept art of her, like the Marc Davis one and wish she had looked more like that.

Disney recently commissioned renditions of the Disney Princess theme "The Glow" for the Southeast Asian market. The official music videos for the Filipino and Thai version include footage from Frozen.
