I don't know why they even bother printing the "upcoming diamonds" booklet when they don't go by it. What's the point?

You are both very very lucky. I read yesterday that Germany is one of the markets which received a re-dub and they are very vocal about getting the old dub back.
I hope they do.

So I guess the only confirmation we'll get is through the Peter Pan DE. There should be at least a trailer by now. I hope someone gets a US copy ASAP.

I can't help myself being excited by this ... which only means I'll be disappointed when the official announcement does come ....
I have high hopes for the trailer though, as they have all gotten vastly better since the Diamonds started. Mulan & Peter for instance. Those trailers are respectful and exciting. Not the poop that was Cinderella.

Me too. I thought the 1997 trailer was great (with Aladdin, Lion King and B&B at the beginning). The 1989 looked off with the colors - it looked so old, I don't know why that always happens with a lot of films. The 2006 one was alright.

I
love that trailer. Even as a child, sometimes I would put in the VHS (I can't remember which film they put it on) just to see that.

It was very dramatic, and emphasized the best parts about the movie.
I remember some commercial they had around the re-release that was all about Ursula, which would never happen now.

Is that the one where the narrator says ..
"....before a beauty tamed a beast, before a lion became king, before aladdin discovered a genie....there was a little mermaid....who dreamed of something more..."
Is that the one ?

Little selection of fanmade covers.... is it wrong to say I really like the Cinderella one ? So refreshing to see Cinderella in an outfit other than her ballgown.

This is my favourite trailer of all time, it's so nostalgic and really gives me chills. I remember rewinding VHSs just to watch it so I
really hope they include it. I do love the original theatrical trailer though and I really hope they port if over the from the Platinum DVD!
I also love
this trailer (also from 1997), I hope they create something similar for the 3D release!
Knowing Disney we will probably not get any trailers knowing Disney

Here's a better quality of the 1997 trailer:

starts at 2:12.
and here's another favorite of mine for the 1990 home video release, starts at 1:58.

All this discussion of the new cover art possibilities got me thinking of one I remember seeing that eventually got scrapped when they were releasing the 1997 re-issue on VHS. This is about as good of a close-up as I've ever found of the un-used artwork. You can see that it says "cover art subject to change". Anyway I find this might be a good idea for them to use (something similar) for the next release because it's not an in-your-face close up and it has a variety of characters.

Oooh I'm so excited ^.^ Reminds me back when the Platinum Edition was coming out and we made like hundreds of pages talking up it's release.
CAN'T WAIT FOR FALL!!!
I like the cover posted above by the way, it's interesting and reminds me of the first VHS cover. Although, I'd like to see a more artistic cover. I would LOVE an updated version of the original 1989 theatrical poster.

Yeah, I remember the Platinum thread being a highlight. People were complaining because there were too many TLM threads at the time.
That sample cover for the re-release looks like a 5 year-old re-drew the original VHS release cover. It’s awful. I didn’t really like the VHS re-release cover that they went with either, because it just relied on the lithograph instead of doing something new. I liked that Ursula was watching at the top (something they copied on the Snow White and Hunchback of Notre Dame VHS covers with the Queen and Frollo), but I wish she was drawn/colored better. I’ve said it so many times, but I don’t get why Ursula is always given green eyeshadow and gold earrings these days. They never had a problem coloring her properly in the past in clipart, etc.

Has Little Mermaid been redubbed in your country as well and what country was that? Do you know the reason behind this?
Here in Brazil we got a "new" dub circa 1997. The reason was that the lyrics didn't fit into the music properly (in Part of Your World), the adapted lyrics were very poor (also in Part of Your World), the chorus were very poor too (in Under the Sea, Fathoms Below, Daughters of Triton and in Happy Ending) and Ariel used to have an annoying Rio de Janeiro's accent while singing (here we have different voices for talking and singing Ariel, unlike Jodi Benson doing all the work in the USA)
However, only the songs got a new dub. In Under the Sea, they even called the same actor to re-record the song, only changing the chorus. Kiss The Girl, Les Poissons and Poor Unfortunate Souls (although some people say that the part of Ariel giving her voice was reddubed) remained untouched. We got a new Ariel singing voice.
I just think that's curious because when redoing all these things, they never thought in reddubing Vanessa's voice, which is supposed to be the same as Ariel's, but here we got a different actress to portray Vanessa.

wow i actually love this cover! And this is the first time i saw it, They rarely include Prince Eric in the cover artwork, so i guess that's one of the reasons i like it.. although he does look a bit off-model. And also why the heck he has a sword? It would look better if they drew him with a flute....
