With Halloween stuff starting to appear in stores, I think it's going to be time soon to start a 2011 thread. I think I'm going to start watching Sept 1.

Sept 1 is here. Too early to start watching horror flicks? I think I'll hold off and start watching around Sept 15.

You could start your marathon on the 13th. Some people like associating the number 13 with Halloween.

I am not starting until at least the end of September. I do not own that many horror movies.

As a rule the Halloween movie marathon starts Oct. 1, and the goal is to watch 100 movies, not shorts, not animated, except for "Nightmare Before Christmas" and not a television show.

Halloween Movie Marathon should include all the classics like "Frankenstein" and "Dracula", and of course some people will list "Hocus Pocus" as one of their favorites, but I won't.

Let's see how original we all can get with what we watch, and don't just start a list and add to it with the next post, edit your original post so we can see what you are watching and maybe help you out with some suggestions.

And please, no destructive criticisms on this thread. There may be some who consider a movie a horror movie that is really not, but that is what they see and we shouldn't put anyone down for what they watch. The goal is 100 movies and we have 31 days to watch them. Watch for the thread posting on October 1st.

I do not have Netflix. I tried it for about a month using the free trial and I decided that paying 7-8 a month to download movies just did not interest me. That's just my opinion though.

They let you download? I thought users were only allowed to stream. Like renting. Only, you get whatever selection they have unlimited watch.

I, once again, will probably only watch Hocus Pocus. I haven't seen many Halloween-centric films, but this one is my favorite. I'll have to rent it from the library, though, since I don't own it (still waiting on an anamorphic release).

Darn it, I'm in the mood to start watching now. I guess it's because I saw all the Halloween junk in Walmart yesterday.

I know what you mean, though. I'm DEFINITELY starting early. Finally, this week starting tomorrow, I'm going through my Netflix: Watch Instant queue and watching horror movie after movie after movie. Although, I was thinking of maybe doing that in a couple days. I was actually thinking of working up to horror by starting with Disney films, etc. Because I still say Disney and their danger fantasies are what really got me hooked on horror: the atmosphere and the spookiness and excitement and fantasy, etc. Things you could never see happening in reality.

The decorations and costumes.

However, I did find An American Werewolf in London Full Moon Edtion in their "Anniversary" rack for $5 and I've got an itch to watch it. I haven't seen it in ages. One of the first movies that truly scared me when I was a kid. Hey whatever happened to David Naughton anyway? He was in this and Hot Dog the Movie, and then I didn't see him in anything else.

He was in Ice Cream Man with Clint Howard (Ticks, Silent Night Deadly Night 4: Initiation) and Olivia Hussey (Black Christmas, Psycho IV: The Beginning) and had a cameo in John Carpenter's Body Bags. Other than that, a lot of TV.
