Gothel reminds me alot of Yzma from The Emperors New Groove
She looks very over the top and she gets want she wants.
Image

She also has Cruella's charm and seems to be very persuasive.

And finally she is most defiantly evil, her dark personality with a sexy feel too. Like Evil Queen and Maleficent

Personally She will be one of my favourite villians :)

That is REALLY clever! :) Very much a tease indeed! :) LOVE it! The marketing seems to be improving, with all the artwork being spread on facebook and the new featurette we saw yesterday. Let's hope the new trailer also reflects the movie better!

Ugh, I hate it so much. I am really hating how Disney's marketing department is treating this film. That poster with Flynn climbing up Rapunzel's hair is so good. This one just looks stupid to me (and I'm really looking forward to Tangled).

I'm really worried how the new trailer will look like and this makes me even more worried. I'm this close to using one of DisneyJedi's over-used angry face emoticons.

I'm getting a "Kiss the Girl" vibe from that new picture. And even though the teaser poster doesn't give like anything way, it is kind of clever. You just want to rip out her hair and see what Rapunzel and Flynn are doing. Okay, maybe not..... Never mind

Which featurette? The one about the look of the movie or the one with the rough CGI animation?

Thanks, Prince Kido for the teaser poster!

But I'm not sure I like it... It's sort of bland. And I'm not sure I would recognize it was the story of Rapunzel with that poster...

The hair is nice, however!

And thanks sotiris2006 for the pics! I so cannot wait to see that scene in the movie. It's going to be magical.

And I've never heard of a puzzle ball before... Sounds weird.

Wow! Rapunzel in that poster looks like one of my drawings.

As for that picture of her and Flynn on the boat... jawdrop:

This is the story of the two of them, and you can’t make the film without one or the other. So, because of that, we wanted a title that reflected the movie that we were making. Rapunzel, it’s like calling Toy Story… Buzz Lightyear. Why would you do that? That’s the story of Buzz and Woody, so they call it Toy Story. This is the same thing. This isn’t the story of one character; it’s the story of two characters. So we needed a title that reflected that.
Yeah, why call it Rapunzel? That's silly. It's like calling Aladdin - Aladdin, when it's just as much about Jasmine and Genie. Should've called it Lamp to properly reflect the movie Ron and John were making. Imagine if they called Peter Pan - Peter Pan, when Wendy is a pretty central character. Even worse would be calling Pocahontas - Pocahontas, when the story is just as much about John Smith. Look at all the lost souls that don't understand that title.

Nice try guys. You read marketing's script perfectly but our BS detectors just went off. It's common knowledge this was a marketing attempt to attract boys, end of story.

Disney Interactive Studios today announced Disney Tangled: The Video Game, a story-based adventure game inspired by the world and characters featured in the upcoming 3D animated Disney film Tangled, an action-packed comedy adventure for audiences of all ages. Featuring Rapunzel, a feisty teen with incredibly long magical hair, and Flynn Ryder, a charming rogue, the video game combines humor with an engaging adventure as players embark on a journey to fulfill one of Rapunzel’s lifelong dreams to see the lights she’s admired from her Tower window. “Disney Tangled: The Video Game” will be released for the Wii system and Nintendo DS family of hand-held systems.

“Disney Tangled: The Video Game is an exciting and fun experience for every member of the family,” said Craig Relyea, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. “It allows fans of all ages to assume the role of the adventurous Rapunzel or the swashbuckling Flynn while experiencing the thrills and humor of the unlikely duo’s exploits.”
Mandy Moore and Zach Levi, who voice the lead characters in the big screen “Tangled,” will lend their talents to the video game as well. Disney Interactive Studios is also working closely with the film’s producers to mirror the magic and fun of the movie, while providing a compelling and unique gameplay experience.

In Disney Tangled: The Video Game, players explore the world of the film and engage with its characters as they travel with Rapunzel and Flynn on an adventure-filled escapade jam-packed with challenges. There is also a creative play feature in Rapunzel’s Tower where players can paint murals and more.

Ensuring a family friendly experience, the Wii features multiple ways to play, including co-op, split screen and up to four players, all in captivating 3D environments. The DS version introduces “Tangled” to gamers on the go with a storybook 2D adventure that includes familiar locations from the movie and a variety of fun and intuitive puzzles and mini games.

Amen!

Jasmine, Jane, John Smith, Meg and prince Eric are secondary characters. The great Flynn Rider (who?) is way more important than any of them. [/sarcasm]

having said that, Tangled is looking better and better.

I know, right? But Disney knows everything about marketing hypocrisy (cough, Hannah Montana, cough).

What about Disney's Tim Burton movie, "Alice in Wonderland?" That movie made fifth place in the billion dollar mark worldwide, and it is still successful. It took down Christopher Nolan's, "The Dark Knight." And best of all, it has the girl's name without a change, and it focuses on more than one character. For example, the Mad Hatter. I see no problem with Disney's previous animated movies that does not receive the title change, they are all successful in any way, including, "Tarzan." Even though movies bear the name of the person's name, it can still focus on more than one character. And on top of that, it can still attract boys to see the movie as long as the story is good enough that fits for the name of the movie. That is what i believe, but feel free to correct me if you want to, because what you just read is my opinion. Everyone has an opinion in this thread, but forgive me for almost correcting you.

By the way, if it is true that Disney should change the name to focus on two characters, then why would they not do it at other nations that do bear the name, "Rapunzel," besides, "Tangled?" Probably because they do not like the name, "Tangled," or maybe they have no problem with boys seeing the movie, "The Princess and the Frog."

Anyways, despite the directors', of Disney's, "Rapunzel (Tangled)," reason for changing the name, I believe that the Los Angeles Times, to me, has described perfectly clear about why they changed the name in the first place, because Disney's previous movie, which I had no problem with, "The Princess and the Frog," did not do well as Disney hoped, because of the word, "princess," that keeps the boys from seeing the movie. There is a rule for that, "you cannot judge a book by its cover." In other words, "never judge people, places, or things by their name, their looks, or other." Forgive me, that is something I like to say when it comes the names of the movies. But who knows, maybe there could be a reason to change the name. But when I look at the previous Disney movies based on fairy tales, none of them ever receives any title changes. And if it is true that changing names is necessary, then how did, "Beauty and the Beast," topped it off without the title change, which is based on a fairy tale (I must agree that the name does support two characters besides one)? Sorry for asking too many questions, I was just curious.

One more thing, I believe that Disney in the 1990's bears the name, to show people how much they can make a better story for fairy tales like Disney did before his death, and how they can make it more interesting than typical. I guess they decided to take, "Rapunzel," to a higher level, when they can make more money than trying to make the story better that fits for the name, "Rapunzel." Just a thought by the way.
