What makes you say that?

It's a 2.35'er?

lilo and stitch would be ok on youtube, but should also be viewed on a tv screen. i sometimes watch movies on there just to get an idea of what its like story wise, and when i watch it on the tele, its always better than youtube showed.

i rented ponyo the other week. a reasonably unknown movie that never made it to our screens. the disc had a single deep "dent" that caused the movie to freeze. i was surprised, as the rest of it was perfect. im thinking it was a fault from the manufacturer, as it was still in the new release section and was mark free [normally even new ones get finger prints]

Lazario I advise you to do something like this. Watch it on Youtube to see if you like it. If you don't like it then you shouldn't waste money on it. That is what I do before I buy a movie. I make sure I have watched it before and I like it. Just watch it at Youtube and if you like it buy it.

Okay, I don't know what that means...

I just know the film is in wide-screen, and YouTube is not.

I'm guessing 2.35:1 ratio.

Lilo and Stitch is 1.66:1 on the DVD and since you have it already you might as well watch it.

Yeah, I figured that, too, but I still don't know what that means.

Am I now expelled from UD? :P

It means the image is 2.35 times wider than it is high. It's a widthxheight ratio.

I've stopped caring overall about seeing 1.85:1 and 1.66:1 animated movies in widescreen over fullscreen. Since I now own the Sleeping Beauty DVD as of 2 weeks ago, I've finally noticed 2.35:1 widescreen does make a difference and I will probably never watch the movie in fullscreen again. Or I'll start as a curiosity, then switch over to the widescreen version.

kinda late in this thread but one thing that Lazario point out that always baffle me:
Lazario wrote: but only new privilages and newer members aren't allowed to send PM's, just receive them.

I don't understand at all why newer members(I have this problem too) aren't allow to send pm but just recieve them.....What kind of logic is that?

ok my rant is over, carry on folks.

PM-sending was removed for members joining after June 2006, as a way to cut down on bandwidth. At the time, PMs were used more for the various "Survivor" games in Polls & Games than for necessary private discussion, and there had been problems with members joining UD simply to play the games and waste bandwidth PM'ing other members to join a game and vote for such-and-such to be kicked out of the virtual island.

On occasion, Luke's offered PM-sending to newer members (usually a limited-time "If you want to send PMs now, say so here!" thread in the Feedback forum during Christmas season). Sometimes, a member who's been a regular long enough simply e-mails him asking for PM abilities.

BREAKING NEWS... I just ordered 3 more Disney DVD's.

From eBay, naturally- since they're supposed to be out-of-print. All for under $20. All brand new, this time that was a requirement. I was really not happy with the condition that my used Sleeping Beauty and Snow White DVD's came in (but I will be buying the new Platinum and Diamond editions of them probably before this year is out). Obviously "Mint condition" and "Like new" aren't what they used to be. But oh well. These 3 I just ordered are all brand-new, so there's no more danger of smudge marks all over the place (just so you know renters, owners, and sellers - you're supposed to grab the discs by the SIDES or stick your finger through the plastic hole, you're not supposed to flip the disc over and carry it around by trying to see if the shiny side will stick to your hand!!!!!!!!!). 2 of the sellers have superb reputations. One with over 1,000 buyers & 100% feedback rating, another with over 800 buyers and a 99.9% feedback rating. The 3rd seller is a tiny bit iffy. And I do mean tiny. They've received only 36 counts of feedback and don't have a 100% rating. However, I checked their feedback page and they only have 1 negative mark against them and the person who left it actually said they got their money back. And they didn't order the same item I did.

Guess I'm gonna run this drumroll thing into the ground, so here goes... ... ...

The 7th, 8th, and 9th Disney DVD's I will soon be adding to my collection... (23 to go!) :

Me too. And in such record timing. It hasn't even been a whole month since Bambi came in the mail. But at this rate, I should have at least 4 per month. So, I'll end up getting all 32 of my must-have animated titles before October. Then I can start on the live-action movies and special sets like the Treasures and the True Life Adventures (well...maybe).

The Lady and the Tramp DVD is one of the best Platinums Disney has put out, so have fun with that one!

Good luck with the Treasures. Many of us still are having trouble getting them all. The last treasure I purchased was Disneyland, USA that I found used a couple of months ago. If I keep up the rate I'm going it shouldn't be much longer until I have them all. At this point I only need the first 2 waves.

Those are three great films, Lazario, and all three of them are good Platinums with enough bonus features to keep you busy watching. (Although I'd recommend skipping the very dull audio-commentary on Jungle Book).

Not for me, somehow, and I never asked for it. I don't use it often, but I'm glad I have the option. only use it for private off-topic discussion.

Won't be a problem. I regularly skip Disney commentaries.

I'm certainly not in any hurry to start buying those. I'm sure it'll be a huge headache.
