Yes, that film has jokes too, but that film doesn't cross the line in truthfulness and heart. This film crossed that line about 5 times in just the trailer.

I'm still eager to see this thing all finished up, I think I'll enjoy it.

Yup. IN THE TRAILER. Don't you realize by now that the biggest "gag" moments always end up in the trailer? Seriously. Can you honestly say that TPatF was as shamelessly silly as the sum of it's gags? No. But the ads did sort of make it look that way.

I've said it several times, and I'll say it again, a film IS NOT its trailer. I repeat: A FILM IS NOT ITS TRAILER!

Yes, that film has jokes too, but that film doesn't cross the line in truthfulness and heart. This film crossed that line about 5 times in just the trailer.

Ariel fell in love with Eric first time she saw him.Rapunzel only knows her pet chameleon and Mother Gothel.Why wouldn't Rapunzel through some random guy out the tower?

Ding, dong. We have a winner. Well two - including me. Wanna bet how many of the nay-sayers will actually love the film when it's out. My numbers are pretty high.

Just like I said in my last post. Making the trailer look like a Dreamworks gag-fest obviously works to make a film successful. The Disney enthusiasts (a.k.a. the members on this site) are surely going to see this movie, whether the trailer "sucks" or not, so that's not Disney's target audience with this trailer. It's obvious that they're trying to get the - let's call it - non-Disney folks to also watch this film. And by having the trailer involve a lot of visual gags and quick, but short and funny lines, those people might actually consider seeing it. Makes A LOT of sense, and - without repeating myself too much - is a smart marketing move, whether you like it... or not.

In conclusion: just a trailer folks.

No-one would throw anyone out of a tower in that film, not because they do or don't have a reason for it, but because in that film the characters are portrayed as living human beings that would actually get hurt.
It's just a completely different level of slapstick.

But she doesn't KNOW if it will hurt him.She hasn't been thrown off anything in her life either.I'm sure she'll be hurt not physically but emotionally.

Exactly, I've had it with this stupid thread. I'm not going to waste my time coming in here and seeing ranting and raving and all of that jazz. I come here to see some information on Tangled and what do I get? A whole page of this drivel. I'm sorry, but all of this is just ridiculous beyond belief. I don't like seeing all of this immature rhetoric flying around with the cursing and ranting, it makes me embarrassed to be a Disney fan. Sure, the company is in no way squeaky clean, but good grief people! Do we have to rise in rebellion whenever they make a name change or changing the color font? Do we have to cry and moan when they supposedely mimic Dreamworks in tactics? Really, you're just embarrassing yourselves. Some of you are actually wanting this movie to fail.

I think we need to quit living in the past. A trailer (unfinished at that) is stirring more controversery than hope. Some of you act like the very world itself is about to end. You know something? What if the movie turns out good? What if this film, despite its flaws, does good? What will you say then? Surely you won't say that it's still a bad film anyway right? You won't say that you were wrong because this film has a stupid name and slapsticky antics right? I think the visuals look great, and I won't stop being a fan of Disney because of just one movie. You can't say it's all over because of just that.

This thread is why I dislike fanboys and girls. They are control freaks who feel they should run the company and not businessmen. They always fail to realize that the franchise they love is a business. Whether you like it or not, the company does what it has to do to survive in the economy, especially today's. Fans are for the most part people they rely on for profit and money. You can rant and rave at them, but you're still contributing to their money. If you hate them that much, you might as well not be a Disney fan anymore and stop supporting them. If you hate the way they're running things, boycott their products. If I don't care for your ranting, then Disney won't care either. Unless your making a mass protest or boycott, they won't even know of your frustration. Should you even try to do that, good luck, because normal people haven't even heard of Tangled in the first place. Know what people do know? Only the big fans know anything about this, things they briefly know.

To end what I have to say, I will say that you all should just wait. Just wait. Impatience is running rampant around here and you all have to just wait.

If and when the movie turns good, don't be surprised if I say I told you so.

It's just that we are at the point when nobody cares about the film itself.All they believe is what they saw in the trailer.I want to see this film because Rapunzel is my favourite fairy tale,but nobody truly cares about the fairy tale.All the want is a movie that is "classic" in their opinion.All I want is Disney to transport Rapunzel into the silver screen without denying the MORAL of the story.

Rapunzel can hit Flynn with a pan all she wants,but still she will fall in love with him.Flynn is not the classic prince charming,but he will cause an emotional stir up with Rapunzel because he's seductive yet not sympathetic with young girls.Now that is a serious matter.

Okay, so the writer of the LA Times got back to me with her questions. Here's what she wants my opinion and story on:

Q: Can you tell me a bit about yourself? Do you have any connection to the animation community? Are you an admirer of Disney’s animated classics?
Q: What motivated you to circulate an online petition protesting Disney’s decision to change the name of its next animated film, “Rapunzel,” to “Tangled?”
Q: What kind of response has the petition received?
Q: Your petition observes that Disney must have changed the name of the movie so that it will appeal to boys as well as girls, possibly in reaction to the worldwide box office performance of “Princess and the Frog.” Do you think boys have always been repelled from Disney Princess movies – or is this a poor assumption on Disney’s part?

I'll now be deliberating my response and take into account what we've all been discussing over the past couple of weeks regarding this subject.

You probably already know this, but you should also mention how Disney has unrealistic expectations, due to people's preconceptions about their films being "kiddy" or "girly".

btw, you can see a storyboard drawing/color sketch of Rapunzel standing on top of a table in a pub, arms spread as if she's singing, surrounded by bulky, rugid men who are raising their glasses and wear viking helmets...
