Well, we already know that the US version can't be identical to the releases elsewhere because the disc 1 contents don't match up. The bonus features on disc 1 here are:

- Audio Commentary
- The Princess and the Frog Sneak Peek
- Tiffany Thornton music video

The other versions have moved the Princess and the Frog Sneak Peek and the music video to disc 2. So maybe more will be in tact from the new Blu-Ray release here in the U.S. than others have gotten? After all, they have an additional month and a half to get the US version ready.

I mean that they would transfer the vid to the dvd verison instead of reusing Barbera's vid. And Tif does have a good voice though.

That is true. Plus, it wouldn't be the first time that non-R1 regions get less special features than R1. So far, the R2/R4 bonus discs run only 84 minutes, so if R1 were to get any of the Blu-Ray features (though likely not all), I'm hoping it'll be the galleries and one major featurette from each of the 13 sections (except Character Design as it's just "In Walt's Words"), and not include stuff like the bonus shorts or "In Walt's Words" (as those seem more standalone than part of a documentary).

-The Music in Snow White (6:14) - Music Room
-Creating the World of Snow White (6:53) - Art Department

-Working with Walt (1:48 ) - Walt's Office

Altogether, that's 55 minutes, which is similar to Pinocchio's documentary, will fit with the 84 minutes (making it a grand total of 139 minutes plus galleries, hopefully), and appease DVD buyers who want special features.

I don't see this coming. The reason why the international DVD-editions lack bonus material is to make the blu-ray more special. It's part of Disney's policy to promote and push the Blu-ray. So far, this policy is used more aggressive in the US than anywhere else. Why should they change it now?

Also, the content of the international 2-Disc-Platinum Editions was (except for missing easter eggs) always identical with the R1-counterparts.

The 1934 Silly Symphony "The Goddess Of Spring" was included on the 2001 Platinum Edition DVD, but it was not included on the Diamond Edition as well.

As for the music video itself, not a big fan of Tiffany Thornton singing that song, but I prefer Barbra Streisand's version a lot better than Tiffany's version. The Barbra Streisand version was included on the old Platinum Edition DVD. I just rather stick with the old music video.

Australia got it worse, we got one disc versions of Lady and the Tramp and Alice for reasons unknown...

Hard to believe something so short could get even shorter, isn't it? IIRC, they chopped down the 16-minute featurette into a 10-minute featurette.

And here in Norway the DVD-edition of The Little Mermaid had only 1 DVD and the documentary had been cut-down/edited. The same happened with the Platinum-editions of Cinderella and Lady and the Tramp.

On the Amazon page for the 2-Disc DVD, you can look at the Bonus features and back cover in the photos at the top... I'm sorry to say that this could easily fit onto 1-Disc. Sorry DVD people.

There's a shock for you. I can't wait for like eight years from now when we're saying "This could have easily fit on one Blu-ray disc." Disney once again just stops caring.

You can't really go by that, though. The bonus material pamphlet is obviously designed to push the Blu-ray (why else would there be a huge yellow box stating, "OR GET THE BEST VALUE! THE DIAMOND EDITION COMBO PACK!"). As for the cover image, Disney never lists all of the features on the back covers, and notice how it says "And much more!" at the bottom of the Backstage Stage Disney column. I can see the Hyperion Studios format working for DVD. Really, while the presentation was unique, the technology wasn't something reserved for BD. All they did was bookend each video feature with the menu it came from to make the experience more seamless. I don't see why the DVD can't pull that off. A lot of DVD menus feature animated transitions, which is in a similar vein to this.

And I think they list all the Blu-ray special features. TOTSIA could still be an incredibly substance-heavy documentary, including like everything from the Blu-ray release, but realistically, does anyone expect it to be, given the recent two-disc DVD releases? Is anyone really expecting that they're holding out on some stuff from the flyer that will be on the DVD? They (surprise) really want to make the Blu-ray look vastly superior. Which, I mean, it is, but even it was lacking a lot of the PE features. They're really just not putting the effort into it.

After the Peter Pan "Platinum Edition" I didn't think I could be more disappointed with a Disney DVD...

Well, they proved me wrong! Yesterday, I bought the new 2-disc Snow White DVD. Today, I watched the film and all bonus features. I understand that the US has to wait for an additional seven weeks to get the DVD? Don't hold your breath, people. If you already own the previous DVD, keep your money in your pockets. This is clearly a waste.

I knew, while reading the glowing review on UD for the BluRay, that not all of those features would be present on the DVD. But I didn't think it would be *this* bad. If Disney wanted to promote BluRay this way, they had the opposite effect: now I'm hating BluRay even *more*! Don't put out a 2 disc DVD if everything could have fitted on one disc!
