I think the Blu-Ray is fantastic and has plenty of bonus features to make everybody happy.
I don't own the previous PE and would have liked to see some of the stuff that was left off the Diamond Edition, but that's nitpicking IMHO.
The whole Hyperion studio tour is awesome and although I would have preferred a long documentary to the Hyperion studio tour it has an amazing amount of material.
And serously, how many bonus features can you watch?

I guess if people really want to they should hold on to their old PEs, but the Blu-Ray IMHO has enough stuff on it to satisfy at least many of the most ardent Snow White fans.

I would have loved to have seen the newly cleaned up Hi Def Cauldron scene have to wait till the 75th or 80th Anniversary now!

why would they waste their time cleaning up an old cut scene that wasn't good enough for the movie under Walts direction?

Are you honestly telling me the whole entire Diamond Edition isn't good enough because of one deleted scene thats not in the extras? That's crazy my dear sir.

I'm just having trouble understanding why this couldn't have been discussed in the already existing Snow White Diamond Edition thread. Most people have already posted their opinions in there anyway.

Well, that's not really fair. By that logic, it's like why include any deleted scene of anything ever? And I know you wouldn't care, Soupz, but many of us like our deleted scenes.

I think more of the problem (it isn't exactly a problem at all, to me actually) is the deleted scene was already available and ready from the previous Snow White release. They wanted to make this release the most exclusive and ultimate release yet, starting of this Diamond Collection and what not. Seems like a good idea to just throw in another deleted scene, even only at 30 seconds. Its something easy that adds an extra thing to the release to make it that more "exclusive." They didn't even have to do the digital restoration or whatever..

In any case, I'm very happy with the Blu-Ray release of the film. It looks absolutely fantastic in high definition, but the sound still isn't absolutely terrific to me, but considering the age of the film its very good.
I don't see how many could be disappointed with this release.

Sweet wounded Jesus. What needs to be said? It's seventy freaking years old. You aren't going to notice a staggering difference as you would with, say, the live-action "Transformers". It says it all right there. It's better, but it's not shocking. What are you trying to prove? You're not helping your cause.

Aw, shucks, you caught me. It was a worthy effort on my part, though. I guess my country lawyer ways are just no match for your city slicker stylings.

I thought there was a pretty big difference... to the trained eye at least.

Perhaps Sleeping Beauty may have been more evident with detail improvements being noticeable, but on Snow White you can see the cell moving fluidly above the background if you look closely. The DVD is sort of flat in appearance, but still excellent.

Blu-ray is better than DVD.

It is better than DVD.

It is up to you whether to embrace it or not, and I respect the direction you wish to take.

But Blu-ray is better than DVD. It has better picture and sound quality.

That is not a matter of opinion.

A good DVD can produce excellent pictures (and I enjoy a good DVD despite owning a Blu-ray player) but Blu-ray discs undeniably produce a better movie-going experience. Case closed.

^I think the iceflash was trying to say that there is a HUGE difference in blu-ray and dvd video quality. Which is true.

I just think for this particular film, which is mighty old mind you, the blu-ray isn't amazingly greater than the dvd.

Just because I don't want any parts of it doesn't mean I don't think it's better. Second of all, whether it produces a better moving-going experience is opinion. It's personal preference over what makes a better movie-going experience.

You saw why I said what I said. If you honestly think the issue is me then apparently the problem is not with me. Everyone needs to stop getting overly defensive. Everyone else irrationally blows up something I said to be something it's not and I'm the reason this stuff keeps going on? Look again.
