The main reason that Disney is including Snow White Returns is to make people anticipate another Snow White movie which will ready a whole new generation of people/kids to start the cycle of Disney animation watching!
The original Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs certainly got me well and truly hooked!

I havn't really been following this thread closely and I can't really find what you're making reference to. What is this
Snow White Returns business?

*Idk* Your guess is as good as mine....I read in a Disney book that Walt recived many letters to make Dopey a shorts series star, Dopey was the show stealer in the view of '37 audiences.

Charlie Chaplin said Dopey in Snow White was the greatest comic performance in film history.
True story.

Now, you got so many goofy characters working for the mouse, it's hard to keep track of them all.

Out of the new features announced, Snow White Returns sounds like the most interesting. I'm really excited for it.

If it was the "proposed" sequel I'd still be excited. But I'm really curious bout "Snow White Returns" and I'm lookin forward to the Hyperion Studio tour (somethin like that)
I agree Dopey and Grumpy are the most appealin dwarfs, it'd be quite interesting seein Dopey bein a Series star, I can see fairly interesting plots focusin on Dopey's character personality.
I'm pretty sure that some people seen this but if not here's a "special" treat from W.W. 2 you can find the folowing shorts on WDT: On The Front Lines
7 Wise Dwarfs: Propaganda cartoon WW2. In this case, the dwarfs are wise because, after working all day mining gems (mostly diamonds), they go off in search of their nearby (Canadian) post office. Or, in the case of Dopey, the bank. Once there, they convert their gems into War Savings Certificates which "keep your money fighting."

Sorry bout the quality
Winged Scourge: In this propaganda short, the viewers are taught about how the mosquito can spread malaria. A young mosquito flies into a house and consumes the blood of an infected human.

I hope the short is like a little sequel, "Happily Ever After" is too vague.

This Diamond Edition is a good example of the marketing genius of Disney. Delay the DVD so you give incentive for people to go out and buy their first blu-ray player (since you make more money on blu-rays). Add a "Limited Edition" and don't disclose how "limited" it is, add a book, some sketches, and most of all so pins which everyone and their Mom is gaga over (I got into pins for a year and quickly got out realizing I was better of focusing on the more expensive collectibles that took up less of my time.)
I'm a huge Snow White collector though so it is hard to resist the Collector's set, well not that hard considering it's $170! Give me a break. Now if they said there was only 50,000 made or something then it would be attractive but the fact they didn't release the numbers means they can make as many as they want so it ain't so "limited." There are better books on Snow White and better, more limited pins too. What a scam.
I will buy the Blu-Ray though and I could give a hoot what the cover looks like as it isn't going to be framed and sitting on my wall. (Humbug

How do you know there are better Snow White books when you don't know what's in the book?
I guess you haven't heard of "don't judge a book by it's cover".
And even if some Snow White books have lots of things not in this collector's book, I bet this book will have some things you can't get in any other Snow White book.

I can't wait for the inevitable arguments over whether the colors are correct or not.

^ Hey, when Frank or Ollie Johnston said "those weren't the colors we used" when seeing Snow White and the Seven Dwarf's 2001 restoration... Now they're dead and who but someone who was 13 when they worked on the film is alive and able to remember what it looked like? Also certain textures were given to the art, a silky texture for the Queen's clothes, a spun-wool texture for the dwarfs' clothes, etc. Hope they aren't smoothed out or lost.
The new restoration will hopefully actually make it how the real colors were.
I'm less worried about the colors as I am about smoothing out the paint and "fixing things" that don't need to be fixed. Even removing details accidentally when removing grain. Why? Because they said they do that sort of stuff to the films in interviews with the restorers! Well, not removing details, but they remove the grain, smooth the paint, try to fix things without knowing if they're supposed to be that way or not.
