I'm really glad that the production price is low. A Pooh film shouldn't dazzle you with eye popping animation, it should be simple and charming. It's also good news because if the film isn't a big hit, it's not going to hit Disney's pocket book so hard.

Yeah, the budget shouldn't be a cause for concern. I honestly do believe that most of Disney animated film budgets nowadays go towards story and art development. It seems like these films are in pre-production for years before they finally move on to production (just look at Rapunzel). With Pooh, the characters and world already have a defined look, and the story is already mapped out thanks to A. A. Milne. Those aspects alone greatly shorten the pre-production process, which is why the Pooh announcement and date took everyone by surprise: it needed very little prep time and was able to jump into the production and animation quickly. I'm confident that the animation here will be of a higher quality than the DisneyToon sequels (which were actually pretty decent, in my opinion, even if the scripts needed work).

The best one is "The Tigger Movie" both in terms of storytelling as well as animation.

Storywork and production on Pooh are moving along. As a staffer told me:

"We had our third screening of Winnie the Pooh with John Lasseter, and the picture's in good shape. John loves the characters. In fact, some sequences go to workbook next week and animation will be starting up. There's already been some test animation in color.

"This picture has just zipped along. We took dialogue out of the Milne books, the storyboard artists added some of their own, then the directors Don Hall and Steve Anderson polished it. We didn't have an outside writer on it, just the board artists and the directors. I think the whole picture will be done by next summer ..."

This movie is a guarenteed sucess. The low budget just confirms this if anything. This move was a brilliant one on Lasetter's behalf. Why?

It's a sequel - as PatrickvD said this film doesnt have to go to the expense of designing characters, setting and for the most part, plot.

It's winnie the pooh - pretty much the ultimate babysitter film as both parents and kids should enjoy it if done right. Not to mention the nostalgia factor for the few adults who grew up with the original shorts.

It doesn't need to gross much money to make a profit. Even if this film performs on the same level as Meet the Robinsons (which is the lowest I can think of right now), it will still double its projected budget.

and finally on an artistic level hopefully it'll show everyone how beautiful the much overlooked/underrated Many Adventures film is.

Sounds good. My excitement-meter has been pretty level so far, because I was hoping for a more original story for Disney's second 2D film after TPATF- but it sounds like their doing the right things, so I can't really complain.

I read on that blog Eric Goldberg will be heavily involved in animating the Winnie The Pooh film. His work is some of the Disney animation ever. The aligator looks wonderfully animated and evokes the fluidity and comic timing of the genie.

From what I've heard he can animate really fast as well.

Anyway, my point was supposed to be that I think this will be a surprisingly good film and for once a genuine representation of these characters. I'm SO sick of what they've done to some iconic Disney characters. Seeing them restored this way is actually a good thing.

Cool that they are making another Winnie the Pooh movie. Is it going to be a theater movie or straight to dvd?

and it's not just a DTV in disguise that'll parading in theaters as a Theatrical Film...for once...

Wow progress on this film is amazing... half a year ago I didn't even know this film was even being considered. I wonder when they'll finally announce a release date (have they?).

Im glad I could be of service.....although the Rabbit story sound more like a title for a skit to be made in to a SNL or a South Park spoof...I mean NBC SNL did a spoof on Beauty and the Beast....why not Rabbit on weed?
