With all do respect to Disney Toon Studios of now, but the Studios from before could have in no way have done justice to a SB sequel, resource material available or not.

Animated Views just posted this article about the development of the Dwarfs project and damn did it sound cool.
http://animatedviews.com/2013/mike-disa ... pey-movie/
There was a pretty dark prequel to the prequel being planned in game form by Obsidian, but here's what the movie was going to be.
The Seven Dwarfs was to begin with Dopey and Grumpy living in a charming village of dwarfs. Through a series of “accidents” – later revealed as intentional acts – Dopey and Grumpy are forced to go on a quest together into the Old Lands. Throughout their journey, they meet the other dwarfs, each of whom is drawn into the quest for reasons of his own. Hunted by an evil wizard, the dwarfs are aided by the beautiful young Narcissa, whom they eventually care for and love just as they will Snow White someday. But unlike Miss White, Narcissa gradually shows signs of a dark side. Disney princesses usually make all the right decisions; by contrast, Narcissa makes all the wrong decisions. Still, the dwarfs believe she has a good heart as their adventures lead them to the ancient city of Dwarfenholme. But in a third-act twist, the dwarfs discover the wizard is actually Narcissa’s father – he and Narcissa have been using the dwarfs to access the Olden Dwarf’s ancient magical power. Narcissa double-crosses her father, leading to his enslavement inside the Magic Mirror. With the Olden Dwarf’s magic, she then turns on her seven companions. Dopey heroically sacrifices himself to rescue his new band of friends. But the dwarfs, with Grumpy at the forefront, are able to save Dopey and escape, immune to Narcissa’s magic. Nonetheless, Narcissa takes the throne from Snow White’s father – seen in Snow White as a skeleton in her dungeon – and begins her reign as the Evil Queen, with the damned soul of her own father forever encased in the Magic Mirror as her slave. Thus, the dwarfs must live in hiding to protect their families from the Queen’s vengeance.

This sounds like a prequel that would have actually been a good concept to work with.
It tells the origin of both the dwarves and the Evil queen. It would show also how the dwarfs know her and what she is capable of.

I think the The 7D actually has potential to be really great. Why? Because the show runner is Tom Ruegger and other writers and directors working on the series include Deanna Oliver, Paul Rugg, Sherri Stoner, Randy Rogel, Barry Caldwell, Alfred Gimeno. All of them worked on Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures. Even if the character design is disappointing, I will be surprised if the writing and directing is of low-quality with that team reuniting.
Animaniacs is my favourite animated series of all-time, fyi.

Wow - was that storyline approved by Disney themselves ?

There was going to be a Mulan TV series. In 2004, Disney Television Animation produced a pilot titled "Mulan and the Treasures of Qin" which was directed by Nick Filippi. Ming Na was set to reprise her role as Mulan.

Sigh. And instead, we get all the trash on Disney Channel now. I would love more Disney movie-driven series instead of these silly brain-numbing preteen shows!

Aw, I totally would've watched that. I'm surprised it didn't happen in the '90s alongside
Hercules and
Tarzan. (Although I still have never seen all of the Tarzan show that was made.)

Woh yes! Now that would have really worked, a Mulan TV show! I wonder why it was stopped?
Would have made more sense then the poor efforts of the Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast series.

(A while ago I posted that I'd post about
Lafiya, and finally I am.) There's barely any info at all on
Lafiya, but here are the little pieces of info out there:
http://animationresearchcorner.blogspot ... afiya.html
I guess it just didn't get very far in pre-production...still, it's neat to know about, since in a way it was a precursor to finally having an African-American princess....

I would've hated Disney forever and ever if they went thru with a Pinocchio sequel.

I probably would have liked to have seen Treasure Planet 2, to be honest. And I definitely wish we could have had The Snow Queen and not the movie we ended up getting.

Tell that to Elsa and her fans.

Dude, you even don't know what the old version was about. Please, just cut it out with your anti-CGI comments.
(I'm in a very terrible state of mind right now. I have a huge family emergency and b/c of it, I have to skip my Disney College Program for this fall. So, please don't mind me.)

Yeah same here; was thinking this too.
That one fairy tale that had a sequel, didn't get a sequel.

At first thought, I was always disappointed Treasure Planet 2 hadn't been too far along to scrap; the first movie deservedly bombed, but I really liked the Jim character, if nothing else about the movie. Love those designs of him there, such a cute character. Reading that synopsis, I'm glad it didn't happen. I liked that Jim was one of the few characters that wasn't in some kind of romantic relationships, so that cliche storyline sounds a mess and I would've hated it. Kate's father looks like Bagheera with a wig.
Still, the idea of planning an entire franchise before the debut has even been released is still pretty funny to me.

That's awful. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

The thing I've always found strange about the sequels is that I've never once seen or heard anything about one for Hercules. There was just that TV series and this one VHS release I recall that only had episodes of the TV series on it. But nothing that was it's own direct-to-video sequel or something.

Lemme tell you, that Nightingale project sounded marvelous. Of course, the fact that it would involve an Indian becoming an animal, presumably for the majority of the movie ... yeah, Disney should tone that down. (I tend to agree that it's a bit unfortunate that the main characters of Emperor's New Groove, Brother Bear, and Princess and the Frog were all animals for most of their films.)
