Guess who's been added to the Disney Princess website?

Image

And while we're on the subject, have you guys heard about Disney Animators’ Collection Dolls?
Disney animators Mark Henn and Glenn Keane have teamed together to design a brand new of collectible dolls available exclusively at Disney Store and DisneyStore.com, titled the ‘Disney Animators’ Collection.’ The the dolls have a price tag of $24.50 each. The collection re-imagines the entire Disney Princess line as toddlers (although both Rapunzel and Tiana were featured as toddlers in their respective films and Ariel was seen as a toddler in the direct-to-video sequel, Ariel’s Beginning). The collection will be available in the Fall 2011.
Product description found on eBay also states that:
This collection features the princesses as toddlers. It was entirely designed by Glen Keane and Mark Henn. Glen Keane was Supervising Animator for Ariel and Aladdin as well as being an Executive Producer for Tangled. Mark Henn was also a Supervising Animator for Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Mulan and Tiana so they know their princesses. Unlike the adult line where some of the facial sculpts can resemble Barbie, these are highly individualized molds. Each doll comes with a small cloth companion such as baby Meeko or baby Rajah. The outfits are very shiny except for Pocahontas, whose clothing is more leather-like.

Celebrating the heritage of Classic Disney Animation, these young renditions of your favorite Disney Princess were imagined by and created under the guidance of the Walt Disney Animation Studio's most renowned animators, bringing the characters to life in the most authentic way possible!

I'm kind of iffy on the whole DP merchandise overload, but I guess since Henn and Keane are involved in this, it can't be all that bad... Right?

Oh, and here are two of Fanpop's more recent, quality Disney Princess articles:

I can only shake my head in shame. Poor Eilonwy.. :(

Even though Eilonwy is sort of debatable when it comes to 'Is she really a princess?'(She was in the books from what I've read), why aren't Kida and Giselle considered one(Well, make that two..)? They're more Princessy then Mulan(That still does NOT make any sense to me why she's in the Princess Franchise when she isn't a Princess. Hero of China, yes, but no Princess).

Some characters just don't get the respect that they should get. Even Princesses.. :(

2D Characters(In this case, the Princesses) in 3D? That does NOT sound good to me..

Though I will admit, Punzy.. Just doesn't look the same in 2D.. :P

First off, I can tell you that they have already figured out the "How do we fit a CGI princess into merchindice with the 2D princess thing." I don't know if this will be how it will be moving forward, but I've already seen Rapunzel in 2D form with the other princesses. Based on the Disney princess web site, I think this is how it will be.

Second, Giselle was originally going to be part of the Disney Princess line officially. They dropped her only after they realized they would have to pay Amy Adams for her likeness. Not wanting to do that, they decided to skip the idea.

Eilonwry is a princess in the disney movie cause she addressed herself as one. That's how we know.

Kida Is also one.

Only reason those two aren't in the list is because their movies were successful enough.

Which is shame and lame since Eilonwry would fit perfectly as she closer to little girl's age and would be much relatable for them.

Figured as much..

Yet the Horned King has appeared in the Villains Merchandising(though extremely rare)..

So.. I guess if a movie does bad, they merchandise the villain instead?

Eilonwy isn't debatable as a princess. She says she's a princess, and she's definitely a princess in the books. She gives no reason to doubt that she's a princess. But Giselle isn't a princess. She just acts like the Disney concept of a princess and almost became one. I agree about Mulan and Kida, though. There's no reason whatsoever Mulan should be included. Just because she is Asian and there are no Asian princesses in the lineup, it doesn't make her a princess. Poor Kida just isn't included because Atlantis flopped. I think her outfit might have had something to do with it, too.

There's so many problems with the whole Disney Princess thing... :|
