We won't guess, we already have : it doesn't. Others on the forum told it and I told it 'cos I have the DVD case in my han,ds right now !! Yep, received today

The French one look almsot the same, expcet for the picture on the packaging and I prefer the French one c'os you have both images anyway : the one that is on the british and another one rellay beautiful with the shadows Beauty and the Beast

Well I guess I have to admit my guilt.

I throw away the slipcovers.

I am with Luke, give me the good transfers, sound and extras and I will be happy.

I will say i am disappointed in the fact that Brother Bear didn't have the slipcover. I understand the point that they may just be putting on the movies that are being re-released...but that would not be the case if you factor in Pirates of the Caribbean or Lion King (first time on DVD). It even appears Miracle may have one. (I thought they do, but didn't want to mouth off about it officially). I still bought it anyways and look forward to watching it, but i am disappointed. I thought it was a nice way to spice up the dvd's...

Umm... of the eight cases with slipcovers, only two are re-releases, Jack - A Bug's Life CE and Alice in Wonderland ME. That's hardly the majority. The others are catalogue releases, yes - but they'd never been on DVD before. Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Sleeping Beauty - those are pretty major catalogue titles. I don't think a cardboard sleeve was Disney's strongest marketing point with those three - the fact that they were being released on DVD for the first time was probably the bigger issue.
The other three were new releases, indeed. Though Pirates and Nemo only had a simple sleeve - no extra "book" flap - and Hakuna Matata was dressed up in a full slipcover to make it look more significant than it really was - same reason they fluffed out the extras to make a "2-disc set."

Kinda interesting that Brother Bear doesn't have one, though - wonder if Disney's cutting back. Maybe they got too many complaints from soccer moms. Or maybe it's somewhat of a show of "no confidence" from Disney - like they don't care enough about the film to give it "uber-special" treatment, like a slipcover or real extras. *shrug*
Netty may be on to something, too - maybe BB will get an extra-special package in a few years when everyone's supposedly migrating to HD-DVD.

I myself don't care much about the slipcovers - they're just extraneous bits of cardboad, in my opinion. They're just another annoying piece to deal with when you're trying to get to the actual disc itself. It isn't a gesture of "respect" or anything from Disney for their films (ahem... "product"), it's just a marketing ploy. Lookie nice little consumers - shiny cover! Buy now! *wave wave*
Plus, I can imagine families wouldn't be too patient with a pointless, flimsy piece of decal that just wears out if you happen to watch the film a lot. Kinda like the slipsleeve covers of VHS tapes - those can get stepped on, torn, chewed up, etc. It isn't a mystery why most VHS family films come in the sturdier plastic clamshell cases. LOL

So begone with the slipcovers, I say. Good riddance. But it's interesting that Disney seems to be cutting corners everywhere else, and yet spend the money on these extra bits of packaging. If they spent that money on better cover art, or a quality booklet insert, or - dare I say it - more worthwhile extras, I'd be a happier little consumer, for sure.

Disney... one of the many things that makes me proud to be an American. Many American things are the best, and I just wanted to let everyone know that I can get American Disney DVD's for you, if you like. I also appreciate the slipcovers on the DVD's from Disney.
I was recently in the store and and I spotted about 10 Sleeping Beauty Special Editions, all with their sleeves, and all in mint condition. There were also others like "The Lion King" and "Alice in Wonderland." If anyone is ever interested in getting any, I can help.

--P.S. Does anyone know for sure that "Snow White" Platinum Edition didn't come with a slipcover? Also, did "Brother Bear", "The Haunted Mansion", "Ghosts of the Abyss", or "Miracle" come with slipcovers? Please let me know. Thanks!

Snow White, Brother Bear, and The Haunted Mansion definitely don't have (and never had) slip-covers. As for the other 2, I don't think so, but don't hold me to it.

Slip cover are nice but a nusicance. They tear with too mcuh wear and are not a nececity.

I think they are nice too but get in the way.

I would like to get Sleeping Beauty from them but does it have a slipcover? Its pretty important to me since all my other Disney dvd's have one. thanks

I believe they do but I'm not positive. It seems for some reason that any Disney DVD I've ordered from them over the years just didn't have a slipcover anyways no matter where you got it from. I will freely admit that I have probably been of no help whatsoever.

I don't mean to burden you with mere speculation, but it's all I have to offer: I would guess that it just depends on which one they pull out of stock. I'm sure they have some with slip-covers, but plenty without, so it just depends which one you get. If you order a DVD from Amazon before Disney stops printing them with slip-covers, then you'll have no problem. But if you were to get The Lion King from them now, you'd probably be taking a gamble. I'm guessing the same goes for DMC, too.

great! Actually Newbury COmics at the mall had one used with the cover for $15!! The problem was though that they also had Beauty and the Beast PE w/ slipcover for $20. Can you just imagine the pain of having to choose one? I went for BATB.

Well, I have had a number of Disney slipcovers ship from Amazon including Beauty & the Beast.

But I think it does all depend on their stock status. Mind you, I got BATB fairly late in the piece.

For some other titles (Sleeping Beauty; LK 1.5; Alice in Wonderland) I got a very kind US "shopper" (thanks again, Reb!) to pick them up for me. You may want to consider getting someone to do that for you if you are really concerned.

Yes, I recall they do have the slipcovers when I got Beauty and the Beast it came with one and I didn't know at the time they had them.

Well I don't think BATB was ever made without a slip cover, was it? I seem to remember Disney beginning the slip-cover phase out shortly after BATB went OOP. That might not be correct, though.

I'd really like to know how the new ones work at Amazon as well.

Well I got BATB, my concern is now with Sleeping Beauty since I have seen it many times w/out a slipcover.

I just ordered Finding Nemo from Amazon, and it did not include the slipcover. Kind of a bummer since it was one of the cooler slipcovers I've seen.
