Epic.
Though the majority of the trailer shows scenes that will likely be in part two. It's not a bad thing per say, but it's such a tease seeing scenes in a trailer that we wont see for over a year.

Very disappointing. All flash and no plot, drama, or any form of substance. I get it's the finale, but they could've done a shitload more and shown a whole lot less of the spoilers.

looking at it through the eyes of a person who has never read the books, the trailer actually gives very little away. Yes, we the book fans know what and when all those scenes happen, but they don't (and they can't spoil the plot for us if we already know what happens now can they?). I frequent quite a few movie forums, and the general consensus among movie-only fans is that that trailer is amazing. It even has people who don't really enjoy the films excited for the two part finale.
This is only the first real trailer we've gotten. I'm sure we will get more part one only trailers that have more fleshed out scenes rather than small snippets as november draws nearer.
I know I'm stoked.

I did a scene by scene breakdown for another site. I'll post it here too. MAJOR SPOILER WARNING DO NOT HILIGHT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW:
The trailer opens with the thrilling scene near the finale of the book where Harry walks into the forbidden forest to meet his end (Part 2)
Spliced into the scene is what appears to be Dumbledore's funeral, or at least a scene that takes place at his grave as it appears there is a white tomb along the shore of the lake (part 1) or possible yhe grassy knoll where the trio jump of the Gringotts Dragon (part 2)
Next is the trio along with Griphook traveling into the Lestrange vault (notice how Hermione is disguised as Bellatrix) (Part 2)
Then we have Olivander looking up at someone from his prison cell either in the scene where Voldemort tortures him (Part 1) or just after Harry and Ron find him (part 1?)
Next is Hagrid and Harry fleeing from the Death Eaters on Sirius' bike (Hagrid is stunned which either means they are about to crash or the scene has been drastically altered, notice how the sidecar is still attached which would make it early in the flight) (Part 1)
Then it's Ron and Hermione (with a cut on her neck) staring heartbroken at a something off screen. Shell Cottage can be seen in the background meaning they likely just saw Dobby die. (part 1?)
Now we seen Hermione(?) walking towards a church. My best guess is this takes place at Godric's Hollow but it's not winter so I'm not sure... (Part 1?)
Then we see Harry laying on the ground dressed in fancy robes. Likely this is a scene of him immediately after apparating from the Ministry. (Part 1)
Then we are shown the protective barrier surrounding Hogwarts breaking. (Part 2)
Next is a Death Eater attacking the Hogwarts Express. This isn't shown in the books, but we are probably about to see Luna abducted by the Death Eaters (Part 1)
Then it's Harry surveying the rubble of Hogwarts. (Part 2)
Now we watch Gregorovitch being backed into his store as Voldemort questions him about the elder wand (Part 1)
Hermione casting protective spells around the trio's latest resting place while Ron lies splinched in the background. The clothing and scenery match the earlier scene of Harry laying on the ground (Part 1)
Next we are shown the blind dragon breaking through into the main lobby at Gringotts (Part 2)
Now we see Ron staring up in horror (he is looking at the images of Harry and Hermione the locket Horcrux shows him) (Part 1)
Voldemort and his Death Eaters stare in shock at something in the forest (likely Harry's seemingly dead body) (Part 2)
A very terrified/sad Hermione drags a very angry Ron away from something in the ruins of Hogwarts (Probably happens right after Fred is killed) (Part 2)
A Death Eater (likely Snape) pulls away during the chase scene. (Part 1)
Ron flees from the snatchers. (Part 1)
Bellatrix hurls the dagger at an unseen Dobby (Part 1?)
An explosion occurs behind Filch in Hogwarts (Part 2)
Next we watch as Harry runs from something in the forest. I'm not exactly sure what the scene is of. (Part 1?)
Voldemort Standing on top of Dumbledore's tomb uses the Elder Wand for the first time (Part 2)
Voldemort and Harry have an altercation in a higher point of Hogwarts. I'm guessing they altered the last battle to take place all over the school not just in the great hall. This appears to be the first time Voldemort sees Harry alive after he thought he killed him in the forest. (Part 2)
The Dragon takes off from Gringotts (part 2)
Re-enforcements arrive to help in the Battle of Hogwarts (Part 2)
Voldemort and the Death Eaters storm Hogwarts with Harry's body (Part 2)
The trio walking through the streets of London after fleeing the wedding (Part 1)
The Motorcycle crashes (Part 1)
Kinglsley and Bill flying on thestrals (Part 1)
The chase through the ministry (Part 1)
Nagini attacks Harry at Godric's Hollow (Part 1)
Ron about to destroy Slytherin's Locket (Part 1)
The fiendfyre spreads through the room of requirement (Part 2)
A very angry Voldemort casts a poweful spell on the steps of Hogwarts (my guess is Nagini was just killed) (Part 2)
Ginny kisses Harry on a staircase in Hogwarts (part 2)
Snape backs into a wall in terror (Part 2)
Harry casts a spell in a diner (part 1)
Draco attempts to climb a wall in the room of requirement (part 2)
Hogwarts explodes (part 2)
Harry and Voldemort locked in their final showdown (It looks like it doesn't happen in the Great Hall anymore which annoys me and that nobody is there to witness it which also annoys me). (Part 2)

I know that it's not much of a giveaway. I'm just saying it wasnt that good of a trailer overall AND I didnt want to see portions from, like, every scene and be spoiled about what they look like and what has been changed in the adaption.

I think this is the same scene! The Ministry and the guy is in both shots! Althought I don't remember Ron running through the Ministry...I thought they never got caught.
Widdi wrote:The fiendfyre spreads through the room of requirement (Part 2)
In the back, there is a giant chess piece from the Sorcerer's Stone!
What excites me most are the people running and seeing Hogwarts DESTROYED. It seems to give the castle personality that something is happening within, I can't explain it, but I love it! It's that same feeling I got when the Power Rangers' megazords were demolished in the ground.

I think these two shots are from the same scene. The cobblestones Voldemort's standing on match the ones Ollivander's kneeled on. So it's probably
the torture scene.
Now we seen Hermione(?) walking towards a church. My best guess is this takes place at Godric's Hollow but it's not winter so I'm not sure... (Part 1?)
This might be
Hermione at her home town either before or after she's wiped away her parents' memories. We know for a fact this is shown and not just told because there's a photo of Hermione surveying her room, and both of her parents have been (re)cast.
Then it's Harry surveying the rubble of Hogwarts. (Part 2)
It took me a while to realize this, but this is Harry RIGHT after
Voldemort dies. The wavy piece of rubble behind him on the right is also seen in the money shot of him holding his wand during the duel.
]Voldemort and his Death Eaters stare in shock at something in the forest (likely Harry's seemingly dead body) (Part 2)
Voldemort looks pleased, not shocked. I think this is
him and the death eaters waiting to storm the castle at midnight. If you compare this shot to the one where Voldie's breaking down the barrier, Bellatrix remains on his right like she is here, and the lighting is the same.
An explosion occurs behind Filch in Hogwarts (Part 2)
Something I noticed when playing this frame by frame is that
there are a group of students locked behind bars behind him just before the explosion goes off.
Next we watch as Harry runs from something in the forest. I'm not exactly sure what the scene is of. (Part 1?)
This is the
snatchers scene. It looks like instead of the snatchers ambushing their tent like in the book, a chase ensues. The guy with the hoodie isn't anyone we've seen before, so I'm sure of this.
Voldemort and Harry have an altercation in a higher point of Hogwarts. I'm guessing they altered the last battle to take place all over the school not just in the great hall. This appears to be the first time Voldemort sees Harry alive after he thought he killed him in the forest. (Part 2)
This is the big trailer mystery (sheesh, first it was the Pevensies at the end of the Narnia trailer, now this). Someone over at The Leaky Cauldron gave an interesting theory. He thinks that
this might be taking place in Harry and Voldemort's minds. Considering how Yates handled that in OotP, I wouldn't be surprised to see further visualizations of that concept in DH. Then again, David Heyman did say that they made some changes to the third act to make Harry more directly involved in the battle. This could be one of them.
If that's the case and Harry really does get captured before the one-on-one duel, perhaps the shot of Hermione pulling an upset Ron away is related to that and not Fred. Heck, it could even be in relation to finding out that Harry is "dead." Fred died in the middle of the night, so unless they moved that towards the very end of the battle, the daytime shot of Ron and Hermione must be with something else.
Voldemort and the Death Eaters storm Hogwarts with Harry's body (Part 2)
Voldemort looks too angry here. I think
it's one of three things: him reacting to the death of Nagini, the death of Bellatrix, or the resurrection of Harry.
Apparently none of the actors know where the split is occurring, but I believe it was either Steve Kloves or David Heyman that said they found a spot that's not where you would immediately expect and yet works perfectly. After seeing the trailer, I'm wondering if maybe
Part I ends with Voldemort finding the elder wand. That's a pretty epic shot to suddenly cut to black on. It can happen right after the silver doe scene so that Part I still has its own mini climax while going forward with a cliffhanger.

The issue I have with that cut is that: a) it would rearrange the events of the book drastically and b)
at that point in the story we don't even know what the Deathly Hallows are, so to non-book reader viewers we would see Voldemort crack open Dumbledore's grave and steal his wand yet have no idea why.
I still think the very best place to make the cut is right after Harry decides to go after the Horcruxes, not the Hallows. The scene takes place after an emotional punch (the death of Dobby) and sets up the rest of the story. And actually they could then end it with Voldemort stealing the wand because that happens next chronologically.
It actually is a really good end scene as long as they don't rearrange the book.
Ending it after the Silver Doe scene would make the first movie much to short I think. Plus I really think they need to tell us what the Deathly Hallows are in part one

Didn't Steve Kloves already say part one was going to end with them being captured by the snatchers?

Nope. The split has not been revealed yet and likely won't be till later this summer when test screenings take place and people leak it on the net.

A lot of people want Part I to end after Dobby's death, but to me that feels REALLY unbalanced. After Dobby dies, the rest of the book takes place over the course of 24 hours and is predominantly made up of the battle. I can't see them spending two and a half hours of Harry and friends running around Hogwarts looking for Horcruxes as everything goes to hell around them. That will just get exhausting and make Part II feel like it has less story content than Part I. To me, the Silver Doe is a better spot because the first half of Deathly Hallows is all about the locket. Once it's destroyed, Harry can finally move on to the rest. If you crack the book open right down the middle, you end up more or less around this scene. Gringotts onward is only a third of the book.
I do, however see your point about having a Deathly Hallows film that doesn't even mention the Deathly Hallows. From the looks of things, it seems like Ollivander is going to be providing the exposition to that, and that won't even happen till Shell Cottage, making your theory more and more likely.
It makes me wonder what role Xenophilius plays. It was already confirmed a while ago that Evanna Lynch made Luna's "Friends" portrait herself for the Lovegood residence scene. But if Ollivander is the one telling Harry everything he needs to know about the Deathly Hallows, visiting Xenophilius just seems like a needless detour. Hmmm...
I just think that if they DO split it at that point, Part II's going to have to be beefed up considerably since you can honestly tell that whole last act in 90 minutes, never mind 150. Perhaps that's where our big mystery shot comes in....

It was hinted at that part two may be and hour and a half.
Anyway, with the information telling us that they added some stuff for a sense of closure to part 1, I think the obvious choice is when the trio is abducted by the Death Eaters right before being taken to Malfoy Manor That sounds right, because it seems to be right after Ron destroys the Locket after his return. That may be played up a bit to be some form of closure without making Part 2 too short, nor heavily altering events to create a false ending to one of the films.

Really? Last I heard, someone directly asked David Heyman about the running times and he promised that both parts would be about the same length as the previous six. In other words, two and a half hours each.

That? Is freaking cool. I realize I shouldn't like seeing Hogwarts in ruins like that, but it just looks so striking. That warm, vibrant sunrise creeping in is exactly how I imagined the lighting would be for
the final duel. Hopefully that means the flatter, grittier lighting for that scene found in the trailer just hasn't been color timed, yet. WB's really pulling out all the stops on this one, and I again love that they're marketing this as one story in two parts.
Oh, and the Collector's Edition of the Lego Harry Potter video game has a sort of new trailer. It's basically a re-edit of the Half-Blood Prince and MTV sneak peeks with a couple of new and extended shots thrown in.

What's most interesting to me is the closeup of Harry at 0:17. It looks like the theatrical teaser edited the blood off his face like they did with Hermione's hands. I have to admit they did a seamless job.

That is the first Harry Potter poster I have ever wanted to own. No floating heads or close up of characters. It's epic.
It's also every muggle child's dream... to see his school in ruins.

Right now would be where I type a continuous "haha" as I would do on aim, but I have no idea if that is against the board rules!
Anyhow, could anyone help explain the part where the snake attacks Harry? What I mean is, the room is really bright. I paused it, and there are kid things in there. Was that in the book? It's just odd because I recall how I imagined the room, but I don't remember it being a kids room.

I am, undoubtedly, beyond excited for these two movies, but I was a little underwhelmed with the trailer.
I feel like it was just a montage of all these action or high-powered scenes, and there's not really a storyline to go off of if you haven't read the books.

I think I'd remember that. Couple years ago, they said, and I quote "doing this in two parts gives us an extra hour and a half to get things right".
