The Little Mermaid Restoration Color Changes

Haha, you just wait and see how many pages this reaches! This 2nd thread shouldn't get to 100 pages, but if you add the 1st and the 2nd you bet!

Anyone take a gander at some weird color changes in the new restoration? Ursula's seashell neclace looks yellow all the time, the poor unfortunate souls are now green, but the biggest thing is Vanessa's hair keeps changing from black to brown! Anyone else notice this and wonder if something's fishy with the restoration? To me, one big thing was that the colors never stayed they same, they were always changing, even when it was in the same scene and there were no changes in lighting.

Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, Sebastian burps when he's in the tub and the maids are accidently washing him with the sail Ariel wore when Eric found her on the beach. So that's probably why they offer a burping Sebastian desktop on the official site.

Actually I did notice a lot of color change with out different lighting in the same scene. Like Vanessa's hair color change. But Ariel's tail color changed colors a lot. In the LI its more like a blue-ish green, and in the PE its completley green except for some scenes. I do much rather prefer the Platinum Edition restoration over the Limited Issue everything is more vivid and clear.

I dont really mind the color changes, cuz they actually look better. But I did think it was funny when I noticed them. However I think the platinum edition looks waaay better then the limited issue.

I had a question (if anybody could answer). In the scene where Ursula is just beginning to describe the deal with Ariel ("I'll make you a potion that'll turn you into a human for three days." etc.), when she's using her cauldron to show the magic holograms, did the cauldron always kind of wave as if were boiling inside? I don't remember it doing that and it really jumped out at me when I was re-watching the movie. It's not a big deal, but I was wondering if they added that in there (which would really be unnecessary).

As for the restoration itself, I was kind of surprised it wasn't better than it was. I still love it, of course, but it's nothing compared to Bambi and Cinderella (which are decades older than it). Then again, if I had to choose between the restoration it has now and one similar to B&tB's, I'd settle. I was also glad they didn't mess with any of the errors (like Ariel's eye roll and the disappearing thimble). It's always fun to see those for some reason.

OMG! That's EXACTLY what I thought, too! I thought they either added the effect or this was one really revealing restoration! It looks added to me, because I watched this Dutch clip of that scene carefully, and it ddin't seem to be there. But we probably need someone with the Limited Issue to know for sure.

Also...where do Ariel's eyes roll, and it's a mistake?

I just checked my Limited Issue and Platinum Edition, and you are both correct. The cauldron does not "wave" in the Limited Issue, but, it does in the Platinum Edition. It's not a big deal, but, sort of odd that they would go to the trouble to add that.

Yes, and quite literally too...well...sort of...it kind of looks like the effect you get when you stare at a fire, and it is a cauldron that produces smoke. It may be cool, but I wonder why they added it, and why they added such a small thing that's hard to notice?

Hi you guys, I just wanted to ask in what section of "poor unfortunate souls" is the added thing in? Is it the beginning, middle, and or end?

It's at the beginning of the Part of Your World sequence, around the time she says, "such wonderful things," her right eye twirls.

Why should it be better. Just because of PAL?
