How long are movies out before they go into the Disney Vault? How long will it be before A Bug's Life, Monsters Inc., and The Incredibles go into the the vault? Thanks for any information.

Pixar movies don't really have the same rules with this like other Disney Classics. The new system is a one and a half year of availability and 7 years OOP.

Actually, the new moratorium period is five years, and it's a pretty loose rule that can be broken to fit other plans.

Doesn't that mean Beauty and the Beast should be available again by 2008? :D

I hope so. Hopefully they won't cram everything into disc one again. At least the picture quality will be better then. :)

Well, the revised 5-year moratorium period was announced in May 2003, and Beauty and the Beast was discontinued in January of that year, so it shouldn't be affected by that. But still, things can change and I wouldn't be terribly surprised if we see Beauty and Snow White before 2012 and 2011, respectively, whether on another format or on DVD.

What about Toy Story 1 & 2? When did they go into the Vault, and when will they be released again? I am new to all this, I have just gotten into the whole Disney thing. I have always loved the movies, but as far as collecting them it is new to me and that is why I am wondering about this. Is there a list anywhere that gives some sort of time frame as to when different movies are going to come back out of the Vault? Thanks for any info.

Just wait when Blu-Ray DVDs will be released.
The first from Buena Vista will probably be the Pixar CGI Animated movies.

The 'rules' will probably be 'broken' for this 'format war'.

Ok I've been wondering for a while. What the heck are Blu-Ray DVDs?

Anyway back to the original topic. I've wondered what the actual vault looked like and I was happy to see those segments in the Bambi DVD extras. :)

I would definatly want to see that vault.

There are currently two new Hi Def formats coming end of this year HD-DVD and Blu-Ray (and Japan already has Blu-Ray DVD's)
Blu-Ray Sony and Philips Electronic with the studios Colombia Pictures, MGM, Tri-Star and the Walt Disney Company, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Pioneer Electronics to support it and Electronic Arts for games.

HD-DVD Toshiba, NEC, Sanyo with the studios Warner Home Video, Universal Studios and Paramount Home Entertainment and Microsoft.

It's always a bit discouraging when a new video format comes out. Would these new DVDs make a huge difference in quality? In the mean time, I think I'll stick to DVDs.
