These pictures are wonderful! If you hadnt of said they were fan art, and would have thought they came straight from Disney!
Regarding Giselle herself, I think I've put my finger on what I feel is so defferent in her animation from other Disney Princesses: She is just too
fussy. If you look at her hair and her dress, it has waaaay more detail and frills than the other Princesses. People have compared her dress to Ariel's wedding dress, but I would have to disagree. Ariel's has more beauty because of its simplicity. Here is a picture of Ariel's dress. I know it is a simmilar shape, but I just prefer it! And her hair isnt as huge as Giselles, eiither. (Sorry for the sheer size of the screen cap!):
I'm looking forward to this movie, but looking at Giselles character animation, the more I feel dubious about it, which is a shame.......don't even get me started on the Prince's sleeves!

Wow, that fanart of Giselle was really something!
He drew her like he had seen her or studied her from every angle, and with all the little details on her dress. Really cool!
Thanks sotiris2006 for all the images.

About posting the pics, it was really nothing so no need to thank me
@Dottie: Thanks. That's so nice of you. Your avatar is great too.

sotiris2006 Thanks!!!
When can we expect the first teaser for Enchanted. I guess they won't keep it as secret as the PotC 3 teaser trailer.

I'm so looking forward to this movie that I really wanna see something final which will actually be in the movie, and not just some behind-the-scenes interview with the actors only wearing their costumes and talking like normal.
I hope Idina Menzel gets to sing a lot. She is simply amazing!!

That
Prince Kido is one amazing guy! His art is
really very good! Not to mention beautiful. Anyway, he posted some new pictures from
Enchanted, so I present them to you here. Princess Giselle and Queen Narissa!:
I think Giselle looks Disneyish, but not Narissa. Oh well, at least both pictures are BEAUTIFUL!!!!
As for the direct-to-video looking anaimation we had seen, perhaps we'll think differently when we see the whole film, but does anyone here think that because Disney shut-down and threw away all it's traditional animation stuff, that's responsible? They re-trained their artists for CGI, like they replaced their hand-drawn lessons with computer lessons, right? When you throw away your past habits, and you try to get them back, you have to start from scratch, and perhaps they're building on the quicker, lower-budget direct-to-video habits, because that's all they have now?! Or, they're building on the different, and in my opinion inferior (all is inferior to Disney) habits of other studios (like James Baxter's)? Tell me if I'm wrong, though! I don't know much about James Baxter myself.

So this is all original art? It looks really good.
Especially the pic of Giselle in that very cute pink-ish dress looks great with the fall-like colors and tone. I hope the animated segments will look more like that than the preview did.
The picture of the Queen is different. It doesn't look quite as good as Giselle's. They might have tried too hard to capture Susan Sarandon's face, which makes it look "weird" to us.

I really like this animation. Now, I just have to like the live-actions scenes to really like the movie (duh).

All I know about James B. is he has a small, tightly knit studio somewhere out in Pasadena, CA.
My 2 cents on the anim industry (and I'd be happy to hear someone elses' slant):
In Walt's day, where studios were less focused on quarterly bottom lines, good animators were treated as being part of a family. There was a fairly rigorous apprenticeship (cel washing was the usual entry point). Though each animator tended towards a speciality, they would work closely with each other. The most talented animators were "off the clock" (staff, as much as Walt would allow), which implied a certain level of job security, and let them focus on animation. In some cases "crossover" was allowed - animators could "move within" a production and tackle different things. There were egos involved - like most performing arts, animation can be very intense.
These days, given the short quarterly focus most companies put on earnings, and the advent of a flood of animation studios and college training courses, nearly all animators are considered a disposable commodity, and are usually hired and handled on a project to project basis. Let's just say the insecurity and rigid job tasks cause a loss of focus and a lesser product.
The only studio I know of that bucked the trend, __once__, was Terrytoons, which thanks to the efforts of Ralph Bakshi in the 60's promoted a whole bunch of painters and assistants to the ranks of animator without the usual 5-10 year apprenticeship.

As for the posted, nicely drawn and rendered Giselle and Narissa, I can see computer-derived painting within them but that is not a bad thing, as there are kinds of lighting and shading that only a computer can handle consistently on a frame by frame basis.
This could be possibly be the finest hand drawn and rendered animation to date...we shall see when ENCHANTED is released!
It will also be interesting to see if James and his studio moves under the wing of Lassetter and Disney to becomes a major piece of the studios' eventually resurging 2D unit.

Cool!
I wonder if the squirrel/chipmunk is supposed to be Giselle's comedic sidekick or random woodland cuteness.

It'd be weird if the chipmunk was her sidekick since the pictures that were shown of "Rapunzel" also featured a chipmunk. Would it be wise to use the same animal twice as a sidekick for a princess movie?

I was thinking the
exact same thing! But is it a chipmunk or a squirrel? Because I thought Rapunzel had a squirrel, so a chipmunk would be okay because it's different from a squirrel.
And to answer your question, the large painted image of Giselle in pink and Narissa in black are original, official movie art!

The picture we saw of Rapunzel was with a squirrel. as seen here...
And also, just because this image has Rapunzel seen with the squirrel doesn't mean that it is her side-kick. Do you consider any of the animals in Sleeping Beauty during the "Once Upon A Dream" sequence Aurora's sidekicks? I don't really think of them that way.
I didn't mean to go off topic, so here's something towards Enchanted. I'm very excited for this film. I think the character designs are great. Yes, Narissa doesn't look too much like a Disney creation but she does look like Susan Sarandon and since this film is mostly live-action I find that a bit more important.

I forgot to say kurtadisneyite thank you for the information on James Baxter, and what he current situation for animation is. Also, your opinion on the animation for Enchanted made me like it better because you know animation more than any of us, and if it's the finest you've seen, I'll love it then! It would be interesting if Baxter's studio joined Disney's, but would a completely new Baxter-influenced style surface in Disney's full 2-D movies?

I like the new pictures! I think Narissa actually looks really good! It mixes just enough of Susan Sarandon and original design to work! It would be really bad if they just did an exact clone of Sarandon is animated form, it just wouldn't work.
