With the assumption that the Hardy Boys will indeed be one of the Wave 6 Treasures sets, I look forward to the first serial The Mystery Of The Applegate Treasure, which was first shown during the 1956-1957 Mickey Mouse Club TV show season.

Frank and Joe Hardy, sons of a famous detective, solve a mystery about a lost pirate treasure. Frank and Joe are played by Tim Considine and Tommy Kirk.

I consider this serial TOP NOTCH entertainment for all ages - there is something for everyone is this quality story telling. There is plenty of excitement, drama, laughter, and fun spread throughout this serial. I have had the serial from the Disney Channel for years and am looking forward to replacing my VHS with the DVD Treasure.

The second (and last) Hardy Boys serial The Mystery Of Ghost Farm (1957-1958) is a major disappointment. The story, editing, and direction are all poor. The story never really goes anywhere or really does anything. I taped it off the Disney Channel but got rid of it when I downsized my VHS collection a few years ago. If it is ever released on a Treasures DVD, I would not buy it except for completist sake.

Sorry about any confusion my statement "with the assumption" may have caused. Perhaps I was being overly cautious about the "pretty solid inside information" released about the Hardy Boys. I just try to avoid saying something is definitely coming out until the official information has been released. I DO AGREE that it appears pretty certain that this Hardy Boys serial will be one of this year's Treasures. I will be glad to own it.

Jerry, I'm wondering how does this Hardy Boys serial (Applegate Treasure) compare to the Spin and Marty serial released in the last wave? I found the Spin and Marty set to be okay, but not great, nor do I think it is something I will return to often for repeat viewings. I thought the acting and direction was okay, but the story was a bit hokey. I hope the Hardy Boys serial is better.

I stayed away from the Spin and Marty set for that very reason - that it sounded hokey, BUT - I know I read just about every Hardy Boys book that I could get my hands on growing up so I would probably get a Hardy Boys Treasure. I guess it just all depends on your taste.

So that cat's out of the bag on "The Hardy Boys"? Yes, that is indeed one of the titles. I taped my segment a few weeks ago on the same day as James Keeline, a major Hardy fan. I then wrote up some briefing material and questions for Leonard Maltin, who interviewed Tim Considine and Tommy Kirk the next week on the same stage where the serial had been shot. They had to shoot around material left on it from the latest "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie. I think "The Mystery of the Applegate Treasure" was a great serial and better than the book ("The Tower Treasure") it was based on. Hopefully fans will agree!

The "unlocked" title is "Your Host, Walt Disney", which will be a selection of television shows in which Walt played a major part. These would be ones that he appears throughout the show, not just for the introduction. The exact episodes are being finalized but that is the title. I'll be taping my segment for it once the episodes are set in stone.

As to the other two sets, fans of Pluto and the Silly Symphonies will be happy.

Great Wave!

I look forward to these, especially "The Hardy Boys" and Walt's segments on his TV program.

Walt's intros and presentations are among my favorites of any extras provided on Disney DVDs -- up there with behind-the-scenes documentaries. Why? I love his enthusiasm.

I was born a few years after his death, so I never grew up watching "Uncle Walt" present the week's offering. But as I've watched of him, and read more about him, he has become more endearing to me. In fact, after having read about his last days, I feel a sadness and sympathy for him, especially when viewing his "Epcot" pitch -- his last participation in film.

Good detective work by all! The "Your Host, Walt Disney" set isn't anything that we could have possibly dreamt up ourselves, so no points lost for not nailing that one. Hopefully the May release Bill spoke of leads to the assumption that we'll be getting more than one set of Treasures per year (trying to get them all out prior to Blu-Ray, perhaps?), so that those hoping for another "Disneyland" set or different 'toons will be satisfied come December.

Awesome news!!

I've never bought all the releases for a particular wave when they were first released as Treasures, but for this Wave it looks like I'll be out $$ for all four. Can't wait to get these. Now the only remaining question is, "When?"

It feels that the Treasures are getting not too treasurable, then another two waves would be great but more than that is kind of to much, they would look like another bunch of series especially because the material that it is actually a treasure is almost covered, and many is repeated if one own the hole collection (which it is intended to be like that) and I think after the great Walt’s golden age the material can easily be release under another format or series, now instead they can re-release the series since this dvds are quite popular... it wold be nice if 2007 marks the end of this great collection...

I don't really care about Hardy Boys or Your Host, Walt Disney but I will still add them to my collection.

That is great, and wolud be even greater if amazon make a good offer on Pluto v 1 since still available in some stores... two more for the collection....

Sounds like another good Wave with no surprises on the animated ones. I was hoping against hope there would be Oswald love but I figure the trade was struck too late for this Wave of Treasures.

Silly Symphonies (As long as the rest 30+ are released.)
Pluto II...Nice to have in the collection but not a great one.

If so, I sure hope we'll have the rest of Donald Duck (probably takes another two volumes) and some more 'toons by then.

I think "Your Host, Walt Disney" sounds especially interesting. I'm so glad they're going to create a Treasure where the 'star' is Walt himself. Very exciting, indeed!

To be brutally honest, i could care less about the Silly Symphonies and Pluto sets unless the cartoons are restored this time around (i.e not a repeat of last years Donald and Rarities fiasco
