Go see it on the big screen, and fully form your opinion there, you may find it worth it, and not actually regret it. It’s actually not wokeOr enforced, it actually has more of a Disney feeling to it than other remakes

Just left the cinema.

I liked it, I didn't even mind the dwarves look. It does look magical, all the animals, colors, the miner's cottage, the mine itself, it screamed Snow White! The visuals are stunning.
I would definitely remove the bandits. They didn't even fit the story, I have no idea what was their purpose.
Gal as Grimhilde was absolutely perfect, I like her song, her make up, her outfits and also the transformation scene. The old hag was terrifying as hell! Though if they gave her thick black eyebrows, she'd look closer to the classic one.

I am happy that I saw the film. Will definitely buy a bluray.

The Disney magic is definifely there, it's much much better than I thought first. It DOES scream Disney.

Yeah, I thought the bandits might have more purpose in the climax, but no. I suppose for the love interest's role to work, he needed to have some kind of group with him and all, but their costumes were all horrible. They + "Princess Problems" were the worst things about the movie. I mean, I like PP for what it is, but it doesn't fit in the movie at all partly for being too modern and partly because Snow White is a humble character to begin with.

The remakes I've enjoyed and how I'd rank them in the moment right now:

1. Aladdin
2. Beauty and the Beast
3. The Little Mermaid
4. The Jungle Book
5. The Lion King
6. Maleficent
7. 101 Dalmatians
8. Snow White
9. Cruella
10. Pinocchio

It's pushing it to say I liked Alice--really just liked 4 or 5 scenes at best--so I didn't include it. I expect L&S will end up here since it looks pretty faithful. Also Moana's remake, since I doubt they'll act like that one's a "bad" movie that needs to be fixed to the point they're cutting and changing songs like with this film and TLM.

One of the things that I didn't like was how evident are the reshoots. Rachel's hairstyle changes a lot through the movie. In one scene she wears a curly style, the next scene she wears a more straight hair. Even the color looks different in some scenes.

Regarding the reshoots:

I think it has been said online, and I tend to agree, that the CGI dwarfs weren't there at the beginning and the bandits were actually supposed to be the "dwarfs" before the backlash. There are seven of them and all of them were useless, I think they had a larger role originally.

I also wonder what was originally planned with the apple and the kiss considering Rachel said that she wasn't going to be saved by him. The kiss scene really feels like an afterthought and anticlimactic. The dwarfs didn't even made the glass coffin, like this entire thing went by so fast that it just didn't really have any weight.

Mostly highlighted why I always thought it was dumb of them to allow the budget for this one to get large--remakes of the older films don't have the kind of lucrative potential that remakes of the '90s films did. Most of the people who grew up in the '90s were seeing those with their own children out of nostalgia, whereas the older IPs are a different thing altogether. Always thought the best they should be hoping for here would've been around 500 million like Cinderella. A billion like B&tB or Aladdin was never in the cards for this. The "controversies" have little to do with it, since as the article noted, the film performed better in "red" counties. People generally aren't thinking about politics when they choose a movie to watch. Because even though there was a racebend here, the character still looked more or less like SW. Not really the same situation as with TLM where they had a '90s film actually capable of a billion and the lead not having the red hair you associate with that character.

Then again, The Jungle Book did a billion. Not sure how much the Glenn Close Dalmatians did, but apparently enough that they attempted a sequel. Maleficent is more of a twist film, but it's also based on older IP. IDK, I think Dalmatians is unique because the animated film was also huge in the '90s. TJB is the only real exception here... Perhaps that film simply has more broad appeal like TLK for audiences than most of the Walt era?

This is not true. The dwarfs were always there from the very beginning. The actors for the dwarfs recorded their lines in early 2022 before filming started in March 2022. The bandits did have a bigger role in Princess Problems, in the true love's kiss scene, and during the final battle, but that all eventually got cut.

The movie was very normal, don't understand the hate, its equally as mediocre as the other live action, the only one truly bad is Mulan that ignores the animated movie completely (no Mushu or songs)

Rachel and Gal do a fine job (don't understand why people say it's Gal worse role, it's clearly just activism)

The dwarfs are extremly offensive and their CGI is awful

It's ironic that pro palestine people cancelled this movie when I think it's very offensive towards jewish people, the Evil Queen is very explicitly a jewish caricature of medieval Europe, they even say she's from the far away land

The songs were mostly good and in general I had a good time with the movie

The best BEST BEST part were the cute CGI animals, the other live actions didn't had cute animals, The Little Mermaid needed cute animals not realistic creepy animals

Also oh god the CGI in the dwarfs and the green screen were very easy to see

And another thing I hate, the romantization of monarchy, I'm tired of movies that say "oh they were great King and Queen and shared everything, well then don't live in a fucking gigantic castle and wear pretty clothes when the townspeople are wearing grey ugly clothes and live in small houses

Cruella came out during the pandemic, right? Well, if SW can manage to do as "bad" as Mufasa or even Maleficent's sequel in the end, it'll be very lucky. I'm willing to guess it's only downhill for SW though, I'd be surprised if it stayed steady or increased from here, but who knows.

So I saw this movie on Saturday while my dog was at the groomers at Petsmart. Obviously, it's not the OG animated film and it will hardly measure up to it. The story changes are very noticeable. But despite all the things wrong with it...








I still liked this movie.

Don't get me wrong, it's nowhere near as good as the original. But I didn't think it was as god-awful as people are saying that it is.

"Waiting on a Wish" gave me some major Dear Evan Hansen vibes, which is interesting if you take into account the music for Snow White was done by the same guys who did the music for DEH.

What I wasn't expecting were the Bandits to appear since because they weren't in the marketing, I assumed Disney just nixed them from the remake. The fact that Dopey not only spoke, but was also the narrator felt out of left field. I don't normally cry at emotionally charged scenes in movies or shows, but Snow White's "funeral" definitely got me a little misty-eyed.

The most interesting thing is that...don't get me wrong, I didn't like the bandits at all, but there was one who truly ruined for me, and that was the tall hippie guy. Even his moves were strange and completely out of place, can't say it better, my English is poor.
I was also disappointed with the Silly Song. It was so short and the part I loved the most in the classic animated film when Snow White dances with Dopey was completely gone (the instrumental part without the dwarves yoddeling).
Other than that, I really enjoyed it, I am going to buy the bluray disc and add it to my live action collection.
