This breaks the great tradition of having Star Wars released in the summer, however I'm Okay with this move. Number 1, the summer of 2015 is going to be a battle of giants. We got Superman VS Batman, Avengers Age of Ultron, Jurassic World, X-Men Days of Future Past, Transformers 4,and many ,any others coming out in 2015. This way Star Wars won't have to compete with the summer blockbusters and guarantees almost it will do beyond well at the box office.
Sounds refreshing for a different release than summer as did you know Episode 4 was originally gonna have a Xmas 1976 release but was pushed to May 1977? i mean with those blockbusters and competition especially against Disney's Avengers 2, Pirates 6 and Finding Dory. This should be a better holiday gift for Lucasfilm/SW fans like myself than the Star Wars Holiday Special (

).
I also hear Disney and Lucasfilm has plans to join forces with Paramount to do Indiana Jones 5 as well, just imagine the opening have the Paramount logo then with a darker version of the Disney castle saying Walt Disney Pictures then fade to one of the castles in Germany similar to how the studio logo fades into a mountain in the openings of every Indy movie that could be something.
I am very happy Disney purchased Lucasfilm especially Indy and SW as i grew up on Lucasfilm stuff and Disney as they make a great combination. I mean i believe it's that the reason Lucas himself sold his own company was because he was abused for long too for the prequels, Indiana Jones 5, the constant tinkering of the OT, refusing to release the unscrewed with cuts on blu-ray etc. and i think he saw that hilarious documentary "People vs. George Lucas" plus Red Tails was a flop at the box-office as he decided to call quits and retire from filmmaking so he can take care of his new family and i think he made the right idea with the right studio for his company. I mean him and the company had a friendship for a long time especially since he was one of the first kids to be at the opening of Disneyland in 1955 (cool isn't it that we had another famous person at the park when it opened), not to mention Star Tours with SW weekends, Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland, the Indiana Jones stunt show at Disneyworld and also Captain EO (That was a Lucasfilm production remember folks?). Plus they hired a better writer than Lucas and a fine director who is more of a SW fan than a ST fan, maybe we can have Brad Bird for Episode 8 and Peter Jackson for episode 9. I also hear this one will have REAL location than just all CGI locations like the prequels, less CGI but some model work use little CGI and real make-up effects on some characters like they should hire Kurtzman and Co. for the make-up.
I can't wait for the new trilogy as i think it should be an improvement over the PT and be as good as the old school trilogy and also can't wait for Indiana Jones 5 as it should improve over part 4. The new Star Wars toon and specials sound promising too, now i want Disney/Lucasfilm to do Indiana Jones The Animated Series as well including a made for ABC sequel to "Willow" and also an animated Monkey Island movie.
I have been satisfied with Disney's other acquired stuff like Pixar (exception being Cars 2 and Brave was alright), Marvel, Muppets and the US rights to Ghibli, soon Lucasfilm will prove they are in good hands.
Now besides Star Wars and Indiana Jones, wouldn't that be cool if they had Willow and Captain EO in Kingdom Hearts as well?
That would be awesome if Fox and Disney joined forces together to make a boxset of the original OT on blu-ray with it's unscrewed with versions
