Today's drop is the Princes' Castle Interior!

It is a throne room seen with Cinderella sitting on the throne at the top of Act II.

Today's drop is Cinderella as a Princess!

She is in this dress at the start of Act II. Signature pink of her fairy tale, with so many jewels, bows, rosettes, and lace weighing her new royal life down, and it's her fanciest dress.

"...lived a young princess..."

Today's drop is Jack Rich!

This is Jack now that his thieving brought him some money! There are golden feathers and hen eggs embroidered in his jacket. I made an homage to the laced sleeves from the 2014 Disney version of "Into the Woods". Of course, he's wearing his signature green.

"...the lad Jack..."

Today's drop is the Baker's Wife Act II.

It is strange that I can't remember ever seeing a second costume for the lead of the show, the Baker, but I've seen two outfits for the second lead, his wife, many times, including Disney's film. So, I decided to join in that. She has decorative 18th century stays, bread scores on her sleeves, and a wheat motif on her fiery red skirt to now go with her fiery apron and fiery...moment, later. ;) i messed up with the jackets I give her, I probably would re-do her outfits and especially the jacket situation if I were to ever make this production real, but this costume comes with a new caraco jacket floating next to her to journey back "into the woods". This is another of my favorite costumes.

"...and the Baker with his family."

Duster, is Cindy’s princess gown inspired by her pink dress in Cinderella II: Dreams Come True? I like the words you chose “weighed down by royal life.”

I love the sexy red for the Bakers Wife here, too.

I actually was not thinking of that dress, Brelly, when I made Cindy's princess gown. The main reason it is pink is because the stepsisters say they wear pink hues in the script, so I kind of had to make pink one of the Cinderella section's main colors. The other reason is I think pink just is a good, feminine color for Cinderella. Thank you for your comments! I am glad you like the red on the Baker's Wife.

Today's drop is the Stepmother as one of Cinderella's ladies-in-waiting now that she is part of the Royal Family!

I wanted her in almost white mainly because the stepfamily wear's white in this scene in the original Broadway version, but I wanted a tint of pink as well to match Cindy (plus, they have some red in these costumes in the OBC as well). I also thought tinted pinkish white was ironic since the stepfamily is wicked, but they act nice now because they have been punished and may be trying to be good now. The Stepmother is fanning Cinderella and the Prince.

Thank you so much, Vlad!

So today I am doing something I will rarely do, and that is make two drops: Florinda and Lucinda as the Royal Family.

The reason is because the costumes are identical, except being made to fit the actress. These two awful sisters got their eyes pecked out by birds, hence the blind glasses, but they still look fabulous as Cinderella's ladies-in-waiting!

Today's drop is Jack's Mother Rich!

For Jack's Mother being rich, I chose a teal shade of green and salmon pink looks great with that color. I was kind of inspired by the pink dress the mice make in Disney's 1950 "Cinderella". Interestingly, Bette Davis kind of looks like this with a similar hat in "The Little Foxes", and I heard that character was inspiration for Disney's 1950 stepmother! A drawstring pouch purse and a caraco jacket with golden feathers embroidered on it complete the look.

"Pots of pence."

Today's drop is the Witch Act II look!

Usually productions, including the original Broadway one, and my high school's, don't think the Witch would wear her glamorous gown all the time, so they put her in a more ordinary at home or outside dress, and I followed suit. I based her outfit incorrectly on a painting by Frans Francken called "Witchs' Sabbath". I say incorrectly because even though it's the right century, the 17th (older than 18th for the longer-living Witch), and the correct status (a young peasant witch, I think), I thought the girl taking off her bodice was just taking off a jacket and she had poofy sleeves at the shoulder. But it's ok, as is the case in these 17th century dress photos, sometimes there was some separate material at the shoulders before the long sleeves. I just did long, fitted sleeves instead of loose, poofy ones. Her black and deep blue colors symbolize death, but a hint of goodness for what the Witch wants to do, even though it should be viewed as "not good" or "nice", or "right".

Today's drop is Rapunzel Act II in her Princess dress!

I have not ever seen any production give her a princess dress, but it says in the show she is Rapunzel's Prince's wife, so she would not wear that old torn dress of hers, at or after the wedding, no matter how it fits with her being crazy. And speaking of crazy, I made her expression super depressed! Rapunzel flowers are used as the motif on her dress, along with the binding lace bodice and almost completely innocent periwinkle blue color.

"Because of the way you treated me, I'll never, never be happy!"

I haven't been around in a while, so I had to catch up. Cinderella's princess dress is my most favorite. I really like Rapunzel princess dress as well; I love the embroidery. The Baker's wife's red dress is really nice, too. (I mean, they all are nice, let's be real!)

Thank you so, so much for your nice comments, Amy! They really make me happy! I am glad you like those ones!

Today's drop is the Steward in Hiding!

The 2002 production of "Into the Woods" put the Steward in a very different costume than he had before when he travels to the hidden kingdom, so I wanted to follow suit. He is in a darker purple as a color of being a little evil for what he does to Jack's Mother.

"That's the Steward and the Royal Family."

Today's drop is Cinderella's Father going in Hiding!

Cinderella's Father continues his subdued, grayish purple hues as he weakly goes to hide with his family. His suit is so close to my favorite color!

Today's drop is Cinderella's Stepmother in Hiding.

Keeping up the purple and pink, she is a little less evil and severe at this point in the show, so her colors aren't so intense. But she still has an imposing hat and silver tree branch embroidery.

"Shh, listen."

I like that the family matches! I prefer Lucinda's "floppy bow;" I don't know what you call Florinda's (a scarf?). I don't dislike it, but I understand the bow more. I like that one has a pink hat and one has the purple; matching but not the same! I like Mom's as well; her hat is amazing!

Thank you so, so much for the comments, and noticing the slightly different but matchy quality, Amy!

We are coming to and end to this project very soon. Only two costumes left.

Today's drop is Sleeping Beauty!

Sleeping Beauty is based on Daisy Ridley. She is very 17th century, cursed to sleep a hundred years before the events of this production. She even has a 1660s-70s hairstyle with roses formed in it, since she also called Briar Rose by the Grimms brothers! She is in innocent blue and pink, which is also very much like the Disney's 1959 version of her! But the blue represents her innocence and sleep (like night time), and the pink represents roses.

Today is the final drop for my first Into the Woods dream production: Snow White.

This Snow White is based on Mackenzie Foy. Like my Sleeping Beauty, she is supposed to evoke the Disney animated version of her fairy tale, with her hair, collar, sleeves, and the blue and red. These princesses have to be recognizable for the quick moment they are in! But her hairstyle comes from Belle's final look in Disney's 2017 Beauty and the Beast, which was set in the 18th century, while the rest of this costume is very 16th century...although it was based on an 18th century costume. That must be confusing, ha! Ok, basically I found an 18th century painting with a costume that was probably supposed to be for a play set in the 16th century or something. The blue represents sky-reflecting snow like her skin, and the shades of red represent the color of her lips, and apples. There is even an apple heart with a bite out if it in her apron. Also, I wanted shades of blue and red to match Sleeping Beauty's shades of blue and pink, and they all go with the Princes' bluish purple colors, and they end up with those princes!

Edit: Here is the Fragonard 18th century painting I used as a reference!:
Image

"Ahh, 'scuse me!"

Image

Now that my Into the Woods dream project has been shared, I'd like to say thank you for everyone who shared in this journey, and commented and everything. Also, some day in the way, way distant future, I may make an "Into the Woods Ultimate Version" where all the fairy tale sections are different eras, instead of like they all live in the 18th century. So many more characters would get more costume changes, too. But I don't know when or if it would happen. It's just a dream right now, and before I ever do those (other than my little doodles for now), comes...

Next up on the horizon: Disney Princess movie posters of Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, and Rapunzel (that's what I'm calling it!!!).

And a possible sneak peek at a title page icon for my Cinderella comic that gives just a very small idea of what it might look like.
