I am glad you enjoyed the films so, DisneyFan09 and Vlad. Glinda is a complex character, and Ariana brought some of what was needed with the pain in her eyes in the opening, and her crying in the end. But I felt she did not play the character as smart as I always saw her, and I don't think she has good comedic timing. But most people feel she is funny, and she made me laugh a few times, so, maybe I just don't always get it, haha. But I agree that Elphaba is also complex, and of course The Wizard of Oz is the GOAT, but it's kinda apples to oranges, they are telling different stories.

Speaking of the MGM film, I read that Ariana Grande screened Wicked with her 99 year old grandmother, who was 14 when The Wizard of Oz released in 1939. It just struck a chord with me because that means her grandmother was born only three years after Judy Garland.

Thanks. And I hope that you didn`t took my remark about Glinda the wrong way. I thought that Ariana had some comedic timing, but not perhaps as much as she should`ve have for the part. As for Elphaba, I agree. Now that I think about it, Elphaba`s struggle is somewhat similar to Elsa`s: For having a power that she has to control and that makes her an outcast. Perhaps it`s a synergy that Idina Menzel were in both properties, lol :P

I saw this this afternoon. I absolutely loved it! It was really magical. I love everything Oz anyway, but it was such a good time. I laughed, I got teary eyed. Just perfect.

I feel you on the broken up "Defying Gravity," but Cynthia's voice is just electrifying and amazing and so I accept it.

My friend I don't think was knowledgeable about Wicked and she only kind of liked it (she liked certain parts better than others), but she said she wants to read the book now, so she knows what will come in Part II, she said.

You are welcome, DisneyFan09. I usually don't compare things to other things, but of course I see the Elsa comparison. Many people have already said "Let It Go" was like "Defying Gravity" and Idina Menzel was chosen partly because she had been Elphaba, and this was around when Frozen first came out.

Amy, so glad you saw and loved the movie! And yes, I hated the breaking up of "Defying Gravity", but Jon made it powerful, still, and so did Cynthia with her amazing voice and, in my opinion, great acting.

The book is veeeeery different from the stage show or what the movie will be, haha.

Divinity, thanks, I will probably get that gorgeous steelbook, if it has a Blu-ray, too!

I didn't pay close attention when I pre-ordered, wouldn't be surprised if it's 4K only just because I recently bought Titanic assuming a Bluray would be included and it wasn't. But I plan to get a 4K TV for Christmas if things go well. :D Already got a 4K player this week at least.

I had seen that gift set and I think it's nice, but there's no way I'd spend $75 on one movie, much less $200+. Only case I could think of is if they had a new release of the TLM with a detailed golden figurine of Triton's palace or something--I mean it would have to be something extraordinary. :lol:

I will also order the standard edition. The gift set looks nice, but I'm not that big a fan of the movie.

I think it will take years for the eventual super bonus features 2 movie gift set, so till that happens I will get the steelbook for each film. I love the stage show and the first movie that much.

I saw it for a second time on Sunday. I’ve never seen any movie more than once in a movie theater. This time I went to a premium screen I’d never visited before, either— so extra big screen and Dolby sound. What a thrilling film. I’ve had Wicked-brain the past month. I’ve listened to the soundtrack on repeat, I reread the book, I ordered the picture disc vinyl, and I bought a little plush of Chistery, the flying monkey.

I guess you could say, I’ve been holding space with Wicked this month! :lol:

I am glad you are loving and celebrating Wicked Brelly! I didn't even know there was a Chistery plush! I would see the film again in theaters 'cause it really deserves it, but I really don't have the money to do that, so I think I need to wait till streaming to see it again (and even longer to get my steelbook November 2025!). I will buy it on Amazon Prime for sure!

I know that’s the estimated shipping date from Walmart (I’ve also preordered that steelbook— actually, I preordered it with my Chistery plush for free shipping!) but I think that’s just a placeholder date until Universal announces the official release date. I think it will come much sooner than that!

Yeah, Blu-ray.com’s listing says March, which I think is just a guess. But I agree with them. March or April, I think, for the physical release.
