Rumor: a Broadway World forum member spotted a (since deleted) job posting that stated “The New Amsterdam Theater is currently seeking friendly, enthusiastic, and reliable individuals with strong communication skills to join the Ushering Team for the opening of one of our shows in September.”

This has led some forum members to speculate Aladdin may be closing for Hercules to move in.

I don't buy it. As much as I would love to see Hercules open on Broadway, there's just no way Disney would close down Aladdin when it's consistently one of Broadway's top earners. Just this past week, Aladdin was the #4 highest-grossing show after The Lion King, Wicked, and Hamilton.

Yes, the forum members point that out. It is very strange, and the reference to “opening” a show may have been in error, or even for a one-night limited engagement.

Hercules is coming to the West End!
Disney Theatrical Group has confirmed the opening of Disney's new production of Hercules, directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London's West End in summer 2025. With music and lyrics by Alan Menken and David Zippel, and a brand-new book by Robert Horn and Kwame Kwei-Armah and co-choreography by Tanisha Scott, Hercules is inspired by the 1997 Academy Award®-nominated animated film of the same name from Walt Disney Studios.

Cool ... so it's even FURTHER away from me now.

Oh, well. I'm happy that the show is getting to find new life. Surely this will at least mean an official cast recording.

I liked it although it was a little emotionless. Better at least than that guy from a few years back who couldn't hit the notes and had the song changed for him.
