In my opinion, from the image they presented, they are going to explore Valhalla in Frozen III (and probably IV) and other elements from Norse mythology.

It seems now all their films will have traditional villains again. First Wish, then Moana 2 and now possibly this as well.

It could be. The castle in the sky looks like it could be just that.

By the way, do you think they plan to answer any of these questions in Frozen 3 and 4 or it was all meant to be a joke?

Love the Mary Blair-ness of that image, and the tease of a legitimate supervillain.

Let them delay this however long they need to, just so long as it's all nice and pretty by the end.

Letโ€™s hope they find a concise story angle for this one instead of what happened during the creation of Frozen II which to this day feels overcomplicated and jumbled. Not that big on sequels to begin with especially when they feel performative instead of born out of a sense that there is a story that HAS to be told!

God, I hope not. It reminds me of one of the big problems with the remakes, which is over explaining everything. We donโ€™t need to know that much about Sven lol. Watching the presentation you shared, D82, I noticed not all the questions appeared at the same timeโ€” the first two on the screen were โ€œWho gave Elsa her powers?โ€ and โ€œWhat happened to Hans?โ€ which leads me to believe those questions will definitely be answered. Which means Hans is coming back, possibly for a redemptive arc. Iโ€™d actually like to see Hans again, but I hope he stays evil.

Iโ€™m also getting Norse mythology vibes, and I think thatโ€™s a fun direction to take the story in. Color me intrigued.

Well, I`m glad that this sequel is going to have the Roman number attatched to it. But it makes sense, as it`s predecessor had it. As for the connections to Norse mythology, it seems like the most obvious next direction they could take with the third movie. It would`ve been tempting to ponder if they are going to have Vikings, despite how it wouldn`t be accurate, as the vikings lived long before the timleine of the Frozen universe. But the castle of the concept art looks like the ending castle of Snow White.

The concept looks interesting. Like Farerb said, it will probably deal with Valhalla and the Norse mythology. However, the sequel's concept seemed interesting as well and we all know how that turned out. Let's hope this time is different. I'm cautiously optimistic about this. The art piece is by Brittney Lee, in case anyone was wondering.

I don't think the films will answer any of the questions displayed on screen, with who gave Elsa her powers as the possible exception. They were just mocking fans' desire for explanations. I don't believe they are bringing back Hans, let alone redeeming him, given how he was treated in the sequel.

I love the concept art! I like Elsas upgraded outfit (hope they change Annas a bit as its too similar to F2)

Im 100% certain theyre gonna bring Hans back and redeem him (maybe with the famous mirror theory from the original fairytale with the trolls).
I believe they already wanted to redeem Hans in Frozen 2 (that Santino Fontana Interview back in 2015) and had many different ideas for a sequel and then they had no clear Vision due to too many elements, time ran out and they narrowed it down to the forest idea.
I think they were just testing the waters if the sequel will be as commercially successful as the first (it is) and then they would greenlight the other sequels with their other original ideas in the future.

I think it was intentional to make Hans relevant for the second movie (keeping his memory alive) so him coming back for the 3rd wouldnt be out of nowhere. Also the countless Hatred from Anna and Elsa to Hans and always calling him an unredeemable Monster and villain made me already go "oh ok its an eyewink hes getting redeemed in the 3rd"

I still hope Elsa dies (sacrifices herself) in the final 4th installment as she should have originally, maybe Odin will take her or something, or Odin HIMSELF is the big bad

Conflict could be about Death itself, After Anna and Elsa find out that Odin himself has something to do with their parents death and keeps them in Valhalla and is about to take Elsa as hes afraid she might be a too powerful mortal or something. :?:

GUYS remember the magical raven concept art for Frozen 2???? Apparently Odin is connected through them and uses them as his vision and ears and the white raven with the glowing blue eyes kinda makes me think of it (that they planned to focus on Odin in F2 but dropped it to not overcomplicate the story more)

Also im kinda happy they pushed the release and give it more time to develop

In an interview with Fandango after D23, franchise director Jennifer Lee opened up about the reality of the upcoming movies' productions. While the 2019 sequel was developed after the original movie's release, the upcoming Frozen III and IV are being developed simultaneously. While it is still early in the production process, Lee explained that the movie will answer multiple questions, including the origins of Elsa's powers and Hans' ultimate fate.

"We are working on Frozen III and Frozen IV at the same time. So, weโ€™re working in a room where this half is Frozen III, this half is Frozen IV, weโ€™re standing in the middle going back and forth. We are not even fully scripted yet; weโ€™re in early scripting, so itโ€™s too soon to know where the musical language will go. What we put out today at [D23] is a lot of questions. One of those questions isโ€ฆ 'Who gave Elsa her powers?' And another question is, 'What happened to Hans?' But we put up a lot of questions that will be answered. And thatโ€™s only the first page of questions [that the films will reckon with]."

I hope they visit a summer country, for the complete contrast with Elsa and her winter persona

Like a full tropical palm trees country

That artwork is gorgeous. I'm glad they might finally have a villain for Elsa to use her powers on. I'm not crazy about Norse mythology or Vikings (the reason I was not fond of Amaya's headdress even though the dress was beautiful), so hopefully they don't go too over the top with it. That said, it makes sense to look at mythology as the next step to answer questions for a character with powers like Elsa. Perhaps this will all go similar to the end of Disney's version of Hercules where Elsa gets a chance to become a part of them, but she eventually turns away from the chance and returns home. I mean, in some ways she already felt at god-level by the end of the second one. Well, really even the first one considering she could make sentient creatures like Olaf and Marshmallow.

Lee will direct Frozen 3 after all.
Lee will be directing and writing on Frozen 3 and writing Frozen 4 with Marc Smith; she will also executive produce the latter.

If they are going to use Norse mythology then they have stories even for a whole tv show.
I would like them to explore it but I think that the films would be darker and more mature so Kids may not like it.
Oddin would be a great Villain but honestly I wouldn't make Elsa & Anna travel to another worlds like Asgard or Jรถtunheim. I don't know why but I don't feel that both of the fix in other worlds and these places are important in this mythology.
