And i agree with Thumper, the Littlest pet Shop and MLP hype in the 2010s playeda big influence too
And we must remember that MLP was so successful because the tv show whas great.
Disney though that creating this without a good story and with souless characters would make them even richiest.
It was also released one year before Frozen came out. By the time Princesses were less popular because the huge success of Anna and Elsa so it didn't help to turn this experiment into a best seller franchise.
In Spain the magazine only had two issues and you can still find plush toys at some outlets. You can even find wrapping paper at some dollar stores because it didn't sell well.
