Frozen IV
Re: Frozen IV
Olaf: "Is this "putting us in mortal danger situation gonna be a regular thing?"
Elsa: "No. We're done."
I'll watch the movies and love the songs, but on the whole Frozen II just wasn't good and it's soured my expectations. I'm pre-emptively done with these.

Re: Frozen IV
So, is this going to be one story told across 2 films or will there be two separate, self-contained stories? Based on what Iger said, both #3 and #4 have been in development concurrently which is more common with 2-parters like the Across/Beyond the Spider-Verse films.

Re: Frozen IV
I'm with Sotiris.
It's probably a 2-part story.
Though, I kinda hope they come out in 2026 and 2027.
Because I would prefer 2028 be when Disney hopefully releases The Search for Mickey Mouse in theaters for Mickey Mouse's 100th Birthday.

Re: Frozen IV
I'm not surprised. I think Frozen is what Iger considers his defining legacy for the Disney company. He may have purchased Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars, but they all existed before them, as did their top properties. Although Disney had been toying with an Ice Queen feature for ages, virtually everything that came to define Frozen was conceived during his tenure, and it became the monster hit it's known as in part due to how he ran the company. I'm sure he wants to see it thrive while he's still around.
Re: Frozen IV
Yes, it's likely it's a two-parter. It seems they're not only copying the animation style of the Spider-Verse films (in Wish), but also this. If they were as good as those movies, I wouldn't mind it, but after Frozen II I doubt that'll be the case. Especially, if Iger wants to rush their production to have the successes he needs soon and if they plan to release both films close after each other.Sotiris wrote: โThu Nov 16, 2023 9:21 am So, is this going to be one story told across 2 films or will there be two separate, self-contained stories? Re: Frozen IV
Better they each come out in Holiday 2026 and Holiday 2027 so Holiday 2028 for the next Disney CEOโs legacy can be defined with The Search for Mickey Mouse maybe being the film to come out that year for the 100th birthday of Mickey Mouse.D82 wrote: โThu Nov 16, 2023 6:20 pmYes, it's likely it's a two-parter. Re: Frozen IV
I'd actually be perfectly fine with them doing a two-parter a la Across/Beyond the Spiderverse. I think something like that would look good not only within the context of the Frozen brand, not only the Princess franchise, but also the Disney animation canon as a whole. The whole process will be under scrutiny from me until I see the movies myself, but I think it's definitely within reach for Disney to pull it off.
Re: Frozen IV
It's weird making this announcement right before a Disney film premieres. Now everyone is talking about Frozen instead of Wish.
I think making a two parter makes sense for this franchise, Disney can take the "risk" when it comes to Frozen, and we won't have to wait too long for Frozen IV.

Re: Frozen IV
This Tuesday, Disney released a limited edition doll set of Elsa and Anna for $350 dollars. It sold out in minutes. Frozen fever is still catching, 10 years on.
I gave Frozen II a lot of slack because WDAS had just come out from being under Lasseterโs thumb. But if weโre returning to the world of Frozen, I need a tighter, more thought out storyline this time. With two sequels in production at the same time, it sounds like that is the direction theyโre going in?

Re: Frozen IV
Of all obvious Disney cash grabs, this one is the worst. "Announcing" part four so as to drum up additional interest in part three, and present them as some sort of an epic two-parter that just cannot be missed. Two-parters have historically been reserved for grand finales and Disney may like to pretend otherwise, but no one can convince me there won't be a part five down the line. I genuinely dislike this current entertainment climate that doesn't let franchises die graciously. In its essence Frozen is still a simple fairytale that didn't even need to have a part two let alone become the behemoth it is today, as Frozen II made it plain to see they were struggling to tell an organic, coherent story. I feel like 3 and 4 will be more of the same, only with new dresses and hairstyles for the girls.

Re: Frozen IV
I know not everyone feels the same about this but Frozen 2 was a HUGE disappointment, the Animation looks beautiful, but as many know, Animation cant save a bad story. Of course the idea of exploring where Elsas powers came from Was the perfect pitch for the sequel, but Disney didnt even had the storyline finished even a few months after release, something the first one could pull off a year before getting released and it turned out GREAT!
So things that bothered me the most:
They could have atleast changed ONE thing and it could have made for a character arc i guess, this is something I thought of right after I saw it in theatres:
OLAF should have died. Olaf is the embodiment of Anna and Elsas innocence or childhood, and after learning of Elsas death (and Olafs) she grieves but she gets back up and does the next right thing, shes a woman now who takes responsibility and Fights for her kingdom, leaves her childhood behind and at the end makes her naturally the Queen, a title she would have EARNED. But no, all this grieve was just for fun because Elsa comes back and makes a Backup Olaf!
I know they probably never could have done this for the Olaf merch but come on! And Anna takes responsibility to let the kingdom she loves go in favor to save everyone! Only for Elsa to stop it in the last second
The movie feels as if you write a song that is nice and you accidently delete it, you grive the loss and you write something way more powerful and emotional out of your experience and then you discover you saved the old one in your files and say "Oh phew thank god now I dont need the other song" (Arendelle castle, Annas arc) cringe metaphora but you know what I mean
And I think that Disney is really aware of the criticism for F2, so seeing that they announced not only 1 but 2 more parts made me way more excited as I think you guys are right that its gonna be a whole story, im really optimistic with this one, I think its the attempt to justify the the story problems with F2 and end the franshise in a glory way, and with a great story they wanna make up for that. With the faws the 2nd one had and still surpassed the first one gave the Studio probably confidence that the Franshise will be sucessful no matter what so they know they can dare to experiment way more. And well, maybe it will turn out to be cashgrab, but Im really convinced think the story will be so complex and huge that they had no other choice but to devide it and just go with it and cant be pressed into one movie like Spiderverse does and im here for it . So with this mindset I think them being convinced to have a great worthy story makes it already a win for me.
ok not really but It cant get worse than the second one

Kristen Anderson-Lopez was the only person who prevented Frozen II from becoming a catastrophe like Wish is.

Jennifer Lee confirmed Frozen 3 and 4 are one sprawling story with a lot of story to tell: https://www.gamesradar.com/frozen-3-4-u ... ee-disney/.
So, looks like it'll be a two-part story.

It makes sense. They can release Frozen IV a year after Frozen III.

Re: Frozen IV
I'm sort of glad they revealed Frozen 4 this way, it was probably the best way they could've done it. No way would they stop at 3, so this rips the bandaid off early. Plus, doing them back-to-back allows Lee and the Lopezes to then take a break for a while, work on other things before they have to get back together to make a fifth film.

Re: Frozen IV
I think this makes it clear it's going to be a 2-part film. I hope the third one doesn't end on a cliffhanger.
Source: https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/jennif ... animation/Q: Is there anything you can tell us about Frozen 3?
Jennifer Lee: Only what we have already shared, which is the team is hard at work, we are deeply excited about the story we are shaping together, and itโs so epic it may not fit into just one film.
