Michael Gough, the actor who helped the Caped Crusader out of jams as Alfred the butler in Tim Burton's Batman and starred in dozens of films over a career that spanned five decades, died Thursday. He was 94.

Like has been said, nothing against Michael Cain, but Michael Gough WAS Alfred Pennyworth. He will be missed.

Michael Gough was the consummate actor. He played a variety of roles and was good in every one of them. He was a good actor who was involved in some really horrid movies early in his career, but he always stood out. His voice was his charm and his best known feature.
He made two Walt Disney feature films in 1953, "Rob Roy, The Highland Rogue" and "The Sword and the Rose". "Rob Roy" has oftened been a favorite of critics here and across the Atlantic as being one of the best told stories of the character of Rob Roy.
Mr. Gough was also in a really good film called "Twice Upon A Time" in 1953. This film was the basis of Walt Disney's "The Parent Trap", and we all know what a success that was.
He was also in "Top Secret!" in 1984, and had a recurring role in the television show "Doctor Who" from 1966-1983.

Is no one mentioning that he took over the voice of Gopher starting with the '80s/'90s Winnie the Pooh series? That's the first thing I thought of.
