Yogi Bear (2010)

The fact that they're advertising it as your typical animated comedy with Flynn in the lead and not a fairy tale musical starring Rapunzel.

Is it known for sure then that it is NOT mostly a comedy and is actually more like a standard Disney Fairytale musical? I do seem to remember that they were going to go the Shrek route with it a long time back, then it seemed they decided to stick with the traditional Disney princess thing, but now it seems they are back to wanting it to seem like a Shrek film (including by changing the name to Tangled). Frankly, I would prefer a Disney princess film, but since they didn't call it Rapunzel, I don't really expect one and expect something more like the promos have been pushing...

Oh dude, Tangled IS a traditional Disney fairy tale film... They are just advertising it as something else. From all the early reviews that I read, the film follows the story of Rapunzel very well and has everything you have come to expect from a Disney film: romance, music, sad moments, over the top villainy. This isn't Shrek, at all.

Disney is just afraid that with Princess and the Frog being such a commercial disappointment they want to sell it as this silly comedy rather than "a princess movie" (which is what my sig is making fun of).

Speaking of Yogi Bear movies, I remember both "Hey It's Yogi Bear" and "Yogi vs. The Space Bears". The first movie was pretty much a road trip movie, with Yogi having to find Cindy after she is taken away. I remember liking the animation and the music the last time I saw it, and I remember liking it.

"The Space Bears" was part of the Superstars 10 series of movies and I loved it as a kid. Sure it was cheesy, campy and VERY un-Yogi. But I still enjoy it for those same reasons. Boo Boo even got a girlfriend...although briefly...and she was an alien...

I've never heard of the Space Bears one! I'll have to look into it. Yeah, I haven't seen Hey, There in a long time. It's on DVD though and I wanna get it ASAP. It's funny, ha, but when I was really little, I had a crush on Cindy. No idea why. I don't get it at all these days, ha.

The plot is that these aliens want to create a clone army, so they kidnap Yogi and Boo Boo, treat them as kings, then they create Yogi and Boo Boo clones in order to take over the world. They unleash them on Jellystone Park, creating panic and annoyances for Ranger Smith, while the real Yogi and Boo Boo are stuck in space.

They befriend a space bear name Snulu and she takes them to Earth where they stop the clones. It has a rather sad scene in which Boo Boo and Snulu sing about their love and how it will never be because she is in outer space while he is on Earth. Always got to me as a kid for some reason.

Oh lucky you, here's the whole movie!
