Yeah, that's a good point, SHJ... I knew it looked odd...
You know, I think it would be an interesting cover if they had Freder and Maria looking all romantic, with maybe the maschinenmensch's face at the top flanked by floating-head forms of Fredersen and Rotwang... IDK, it looks cool in my mind, anyway.

Because it's a great looking cover? Eureka said that 56 pages is the maximum for a Blu-ray case to hold, so that's why I'm sure it's just the standard case sideways.SpringHeelJack wrote:...you sure? It looks in the picture like a regular Blu-ray / DVD case standing normally with said 56 page book directly to the right of it both inside a large slipcover of sorts.
Even if not, why would they design a movie with cover art so that it had to be on its side to be displayed normally? That's also kind of lame.

I'm getting kinda psyched for this DVD release. I just started reading the original novel today, and ordered the soundtrack with libretto of the musical.... Really getting into the Metropolis fever! Can't wait to compare all three (I've seen the film already, and read the script and heard snippets from the musical, and am about a third of the way through the novel).
Interesting to note that Judy Kuhn played Maria/Futura and Brian Blessed played Clayton in the stage musical.... It's just funny having the Metropolis story with 2 very recognizable Disney voice actors in the cast!
