Belinda- Carpe Diem

Post by AladdinFan »

Probably some of you know who Belinda is. She was on the movie The Cheetah 2 as Marisol which she sang "Why Wait", "Amigas Cheetahs", and "Dance with Me" with Drew Seeley. On her 2nd album Utopia and Utopia 2 (Special Edition) she recorded 5 English songs. Her 3rd album, Carpe Diem released on March 23rd, 2010 featured her single "Egoísta" (Feat. Pitbull) for some reason she uses the auto-tune effect when she already has a good voice. The single has been translated in English by the same title name, its going to be release as a digital download single because it's not on the album. There are rumors that it's going to be release by the end of June. "Egoísta" means "Selfish/Egoist" in English.

Here it is "Egoísta" (Feat. Pitbull) [English Version]:

Great acid track, good beat.
But the voice manipulation tricks are a bore and - I'm usually the last one to register a complaint about a vocalist, but - that baby-talk voice grates on the nerves after about the 2nd listen.
Ditch the Paris-Hilton-on-helium routine and you may have a winner.

Lazario, you could not be more spot on with "baby voice". That is probably the biggest complain everyone seems to have with Belinda. I absolutely love the album, the pop rock tracks are fun and the ballads are deep. I adore Belinda, I don't mind her baby voice (except when she attempts acting... not her forte), it's actually a very good quality in her singing; but I have to say Egoista is probably her worst single ever! Regeton?? I didn't mind her Hip Hop that much in Good Good and Never Enough on Utopia. The rest of the album I just can't get enough of. I would say Belinda is the good vesion of Avril Lavigne, Belinda knows she's a pop artist but still uses rock.[/i]

It was okay. Sure nothing I feel I haven't seen before. Just some pyro, a purple dance floor, a sequined/glittered skull, and water spearing effects.

I'm not too happy that they didn't try to get him to do the rapping in English as well.
