So I got to watch the show last night because of a schedule change for Lost. Gotta say it was the best episode of Idol I've seen since Norman Gentle's Top 24 performence. Not because of the singing, it was mediocre at best, but for this one line "I'm so glad these two can be together, get married and have lots of little Danny Gokey babies". I peed myself laughing and gave all my votes (gotta love that magic jack I bought that actual lets this canuck's votes go through) to Crystal.

Anyways, I gotta tell you that I hate the fact that all but one of these songs appeared in the season 7 McCartney/Lennon weeks. Their songbook is huge, diversify!

On to the rankings:

1. Crystal Bowersox: Even with the little lyric mishap (I was surprised the judges didn't call her on it, it could have been their one negatove thing to say) it was a fantastic performence. Crystal is obviously the one to beat but I worry she could end up like Melinda and be voted out for being too good. The difference is Crystal is commerical, where Doolittle wasn't. We'll see.

2. Lee Dewyze: Bagpipes! I hate bagpipes, but I loved them here, just so random and amazing. Not the best vocal but it was a fantastic bit of entertainment.

3. Tim Urban: Timmy has his "Sanjaya sings Spanish" week and was actually good! Unfortunetly the praise he garnered could backfire on him because his fans will think he is safe.

4. Siobhan Magnus: A little boring but a lot better than when Michael Johns sang in two years ago.

5. Casey James: Good, but zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......

6. Katie Stevens: Her best to date, but no where near as powerful or memorable as Brooke White's rendition in season seven.

7. Michael Lynche: GRRR, I hate when this song gets done on Idol cause it's one you really can't abridge without ruining. Didn't like the arrangment at all.

8. Aaron Kelly: BORING!

9. Andrew Garcia: I think LOL sums it up pretty well.

Bottom 3: Aaron, Andrew and Tim. Tim goes back to the couches and Andrew goes home. Poor Lee. :(

I'm hoping they cut the filler crap next week, but as the show is giving Adam Lambert another shot at trying to get his career off the ground by having him mentor I'm guessing they'll shove him down our throats and the show will still be 2 hours long. Ah well at least I have the night off and I can watch on a time-shifting channel.

I loved last night's show. Been singing Beatles tunes all day.

(Need to buy one of their CDs...)

Well, Michael Lynche survived...of course. At least this means the judges can't save anyone else (*hopes for Siobhan to screw up really bad and get eliminated*). And Tim Urban wasn't even in the bottom three. Yay. :P

And David Archuleta did absolutely excellent. Love him. But I only just realized how tiny he is.

To Widdi: next week will only be an hour. Glee comes on at 9pm Tuesday. And I've been waiting for Lambert to return. They've had everyone else from that season on the show except him, strangely (and he's the only one anyone cared about from season 8).

Geez Louise Widdi, can you be any more blind to talent than me. I thought I was bad, but you make me look good.

On tonight's Results Show, we Rhianna, David Archuletta and Jason DeRulo, all of whom I don't think have an ounce of what I call talent between them. Totally boring performances, except for Archuletta, but he can be forgiven because he is just a little guy.

The bottom three scared the heck out of me, because it wasn't the bottom three I would have picked, and Tim Urban is still polishing his teeth for another week.

The judges used their save to keep Michael Lynche around, thank goodness. But the sad part is next week we lose two.

The show drops to a 1 1/2 hour show with the Top Nine contestants, so there won't be any "filler", just a little bit too much of Adam 'Gay'bert.

Let's hope the song choices are better, and hope that who ever didn't vote for their favorite gets back on the phones next week and we don't have the shocking bottom three like we did this week.

:D

I was going to reply with something witty and boderline rude, but I think this will do just fine:

Anyways, using the save was a bad call. It's going to be even worse when someone who will actually sell records (Crystal or Lee, maybe even Siobhan if she gets a good producer) gets sent home before the save would have expired. Lynch is a good singer, but he's nothing special. There are a million other soulful black men out there making the same gospel infused R&B album he will release working three jobs cause their music just doesn't stand out at all.

As much as I love Crystal's voice I'm kinda hoping she goes next week, just cause it'll make one hell of an entertaining hour of television. The looks on the judges faces will be worth the cost of my next cable bill alone.

Also the look on Tim's face when Ryan told him to stand beside Casey was epic. I laughed so much. God I love those Tweeny boppers with unlimited text messages on their phones. They are saving this show's entertainment factor.

And big thumbs down to yet another lip synched group number. But thumbs up to Tim to admitting it wasn't done live on national tv. Ryan tried to save face but it was too late.

So rumor is next week theme is Past Idols and the contestants will have to sing hits from past Idol Success stories, which pretty much means an hour of Clarkson and Underwood covers.

And your Cable company doesn't provide you with a DVR at no extra cost. You have a bogus Cable company. We have Cox Communications and we have three DVR's at no extra cost, and full digital HD that is free, and my monthly cable bill never tops the $150 mark because I have my high-speed internet and home phone in their 'bundled' price.

And how did they mess up "Lost", because we had it at it's usual time on Tuesday and so I was wondering if you missed "Lost" or decided to watch a good show instead.

Talent is in the eyes and ears of the beholder. You are using what music you like as a basis for your likes and dislikes and to say that Crystal should go before the finale is terribly wrong.

Also Michael Lynche was the correct choice for the judges to use their 'save', there was no choice for them. Had it been Tim Urban or Andrew Garcia, I don't think that they would have made the same decision. Remember the save was only good until the Top Five, and we still have to suffer through the two-hour "Idol Gives Back" show. I had hoped they learned their lesson from the past season when they dumped that show.

A DVR costs an additional $49 dollars a month, and I only watch American Idol and Lost, maybe the occasional repeat of The Simpsons or The Golden Girls, but they are few and far between so paying for it would be a complete and utter waste of 50 dollars. I might as well just light it on fire. It's bad enough I pay the 60 bucks a month for Digital Cable (especially because I can get A and CTV; the Canadian Networks that air Lost and Idol for free with a set of Digital Rabbit Ears), which I really only do for the other people who live with me.

Anyways, did I not say "as much as I love Crystal" when I was airing my opinion? I'd love for Crystal to win, I just think if she goes next week or any week from now till the Top 5 it would be hilarious, because she is the anoited one this season and now the judges can't save her if she has an off week.

If this wasn't the top 9 week, like say it was the top 6 or 7 and Mike left, I think saving him might have been a good idea, but there are still 4 weeks in which the save could have been used to save someone who actually will win and will sell a boatload of records. Obviously they wouldn't have used it on Tim or Andrew, but I think using it on Mike so early could come back to bite them in the ass.

Lost airs on a different channel here than in the US and that channel was also airing special programing tuesday night so they showed Lost at 7pm instead of 9. That's how I watched it.

I'm dreading Idol Gives Back too... If this year's mentors are any indication on who they have managed to book this year then I'll be skipping that show for sure. And please don't let it be a non-elimination week like it was in the first year.

I got surprised when Michael Lynche was in the Bottom 3. Good thing that the judges saved him. Hopefully Michael Lynche, Lee DeWyze, Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, and Siobhan Magnus make it to the final 5. I don't really care about Andrew Garcia, Aaron Kelly, Katie Stevens, and Tim Urban hopefully one of these 4 goes home next week.

Well, it was Elvis night on American Idol and Adam Lambert was guest mentor, who in my opinion did a really good job.

Crystal Bowersox proved once again why she is leader in the competition when she opened the show with "Saved". I loved this version and you could tell she was having 'fun' with the song. The judges agreed.

Andrew Garcia did not help his cause any tonight as he ruined "Hound Dog" and I will never look at the song again.

Tim Urban was next and pulled out all the stops with "Can't Help Falling In Love With You".

Lee DeWyze gave an energetic performance with his version of "A Little Less Conversation". He will be around a while longer.

Aaron Kelly is still stumbling around and this time he tried too hard when he covered Elvis' "Blue Suede Shoes". This may be his last week.

Siobhan Magnus did a terrible version of "Susicious Minds" and may have sealed her fate for not taking more chances.

Michael Lynche proved why he is the man to deal with and the judges made the right choice using their 'save'. He did tear-jerking version of "In The Ghetto" and Simon said "It was million times better than last week".

Katie Stevens took the stage and made it her own tonight with a rousing rendition of "Baby What Do You Want Me To Do?" and made the judges believe it. One of the better performances of the night.

Last up was Casey James who tore apart "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" and made it his own. I liked it.

Who might go home: Tim Urban and Aaron Kelly.

Crystal ~ I thought it was her worst performance so far. All the screeching, etc. But it was still heads above the rest.
Michael ~ Didn't like it really. But it was better than having to hear "A Change Gonna Come" for the 15th time.
Siobhan ~ I thought it was the best she sounded since those moments in "Tainted Love." Admittedly, she still wasn't very good, but at least she didn't make those horrible chorus sounds. And I'm getting tired of the comments she makes to win over the audience after she's sucked.
Casey ~ Boring.
Tim ~ I didn't really like it. His voice didn't suit the song very well to me, and I was sad. He still was far from the worst though.
Lee ~ Boring, bordering on bad.
Aaron ~ I liked it, except that the clothes he was wearing emphasized how young he was. He almost looked almost 11-14.
Andrew ~ He'll probably go. (And he should)
Katie ~ Didn't really care. Good, bad--she isn't going to win. And, again, Kara--stfu to Simon you (as US Today put it) "arrogant twit."

Ryan and Adam were fun to watch though.

-Wait, can he say that kind of stuff on TV? I'm not sure if he was just being obnoxious as usual or if he really didn't think through what he was suggesting. Adam's expression and look at the camera was priceless.

I'm also tiring of Tim Urban. It seems like all the bad singers fall back on slow ballads that stay at a whispering level and don't have to showcase range (as it obviously doesn't exist). Then they get praised for it. It happened with Hallelujah and now I Can't Help Falling In Love. The same thing happened with Jason Castro with the same song. I also noticed he ignored Lambert's advice about ending with the falsetto, I'm not sure why they played that clip unless to reinforce that slap in the face, but I think his version worked, regardless.

I want Andrew Garcia and Tim Urban out. Katie Stevens and Aaron Kelly, while not bad like the other two, are just way too mediocre. Siobhan Magnus has been a big disappointment for the past couple of weeks. I have a feeling that she used all her bag of tricks up, what a shame. The others have been pretty consistent.

Glad Katie left. She was getting on my nerves. Maybe now Kara will shut up more. But I wouldn't have been disappointed if it had been Mike.

I'm not sure where Tim will end up. I like him better than Siobhan or Michael, and he's more entertaining than Lee or Casey. So he might go in the next week or so, or he might not. No idea.

Well inspirational night was anything, but... and tomorrow night we get that Idol Gives Back crapfest.

1. Lee Dewyze: Excellent. Though not inspirational, but nothing was tonight so, whatever.

2. Crystal Bowersox: Old fashioned, and I miss the guitar. The crying was a little over the top and ruined her glory note. Oh well.

3. Tim Urban: Total judge sabotage tonight. He was nowhere near as bad as they made him out to be. Ah well we'll just have to vote and tell them to eff off that way yet again.

4. Siobhan Magnus: Again not as bad as the judges claimed, but she's losing her touch.

5. Aaron Kelly: If he was old enough I would have offered him some wine. Over the top and cheesy. I was waiting for Bugs Bunny to show up and throw him a basketball.

6. Casey James: So boring.

7. Michael Lynche: Awful. Awful. Awful. Kara must have been the only one in the room. They used the save on him why?

Bottom 3: Michael, Casey and Tim.

Going home: Casey

Since Widdi watches a different show than the rest of us, let's look at the best performers of the night:

Lee DeWyze who performed "The Boxer", and even though he was the second performer on stage Simon pronounced him the best of the evening.

Crystal Bowersox brought life to "People Get Ready", and you feel the emotion in the song, and yes, she did shed a tear at the end. Best thing she has done this season.

Michael Lynche did a rendition of "Hero" that no one really got. Still a good performance and he will be around next week.

Bottom three will be: Tim Urban, Siobhan Magnus, and Casey James.

Going home, I am not really good at this but I am sticking with Tim Urban, it is his time to go.

Crystal ~ The best of the night (of course). There was one moment where she screeched, but one messup in 10 weeks can hardly be blamed. I was also weirded out when she started crying, but at least she doesn’t go on and on to get America’s pity vote because she isn’t any good like Sioban.
Michael ~ In the beginning, before the band and chorus came in, he actually sounded pretty good. But his voice wasn't strong enough to hold that. And I was, like Simon, confused by the song choice. :?
Casey ~ Same old, same old. I’ve lost my interest.
Aaron ~ You know, “I Believe I Can Fly” was actually a good choice for him. He sounded good to begin with, but I think he never peaked, like an inspirational song (this song) needs to end on. The arrangement was also horrible, and seemed to undermine any kind of buildup (reason there was no peak) and didn't offer any real denouement.
Tim ~ I think it was his best performance thus far. The judges loved him last week (Elvis), but I thought his voice sounded weird with the song he chose then. But this was his best song choice, and though the beginning could’ve been stronger, it really was his best so far, imo.
Lee ~ I thought he did okay, if kind of boring, but I thought the song highlighted the worst parts of his voice (the second half of the first line really started it off bad; ).
Siobhan ~ For one, this song is out of her league. Not only does she fail to match Mariah/Whitney (duh), but she also can’t even be on par with Archuleta's rendition two seasons ago. Well, how could she? She sucks. It's to Idol's credit that they could convince anyone that she doesn't sound like a donkey mixed with a duck. Singing through its nose.

Who deserves to go? Michael, Siobhan, Casey, Aaron, and (maybe) Lee. God, that’s nearly everyone. This season does suck (although I guess it makes Glee even more of a breath of fresh air than it would be already; :P ).

So you claim I'm watching a different show and then essentially agree with me about who was the best? Right...
