And of course they get rid of my favorite. And then Tyler Grady, too (who did do bad, but not nearly as bad as John Park, Alex Lambert, or Tim Urban). But they just kept all the sucky ones. Tim Urban clearly stayed because 1. he’s attractive and 2. America has to look out for the poor, little underdog.

And of course none of the Jewel-mimicking girls got cut—just the ones who tried to actually sing. Because they clearly want a cut on that market.

This season sucks already.

VFTW Victory!

4 boots... 3 of them surprising in some respects.

Joe was fodder, plain and simple and he got forgotten in the mess that is the top 12 guys. Tyler's lack of singing last night did him in. Love that he blamed the judges though. He would have made a good (eventual, there were still about 3 guys ahead of him) VFTW pick.

Ashley wasn't that shocking as she did pretty bad... wasn't really the bottom but middle of the road singers have more to worry about cause the bottom gets a huge boost from the people who don't want to see them go. Indifference is more deadly than dislike.

Janell finally was ousted (I thought she'd make it through on looks, but I now realize that Idol voters are predominantly female. Cute boys get a much easier pass than cute girls) after coasting by on her audition.

I still don't understand why Allison isn't more popular...

Also, putting Kris on the stage was a bad idea. Really showed how awful this year's talent is in comparison.

On to next week!

This year sucks, plain and simple. They tell the ones they kick off that its not that they're bad but that the talent is soo good this year. What talent?

As for Kris Allen, he still sucks. I can honestly say that some of the contestants sounded better. For me, last years seemed to mimic the Chilli's commercials (Lambert was the spicy Chilli's food while Kris was the cardboard). Either way, Kris came off as bland and extremely ordinary, nothing separating him from the thousands of others that tried out and were rejected (I never understood how he made it to the top 12, let alone won it). Worst of all, when he really gets into his song, he scrunches his face so much it looks like he pooped himself.

I always felt they were doing the voting system wrong. It should be vote for the one you want off but I guess that would hurt that persons feelings (now they can at least delude themselves into thinking it wasn't their fault and that their fan-base was busy or just didn't try hard enough). If it was vote for the worst, then they would have a really good idea of what records people would never buy.

Was very disappointed with them sending Ashley Rodrigues home. Several sites had her picked to go all the way to the Top Four, and she blew it big time with her performance.

Glad to see the others go, Joe Munoz was a good guy, but he picked the wrong song, and it just wasnt in the cards for him to go any further.

Next week, it's the TOP 20, and hopefully everyone will learn from the judges that it's the song you pick not the clothes you pick.

And noticed no one picked on Allison Iraheta f-ugly dress. The song "Scars" wasn't bad, but doesn't make me want to buy her album.

Ugh... this is going to be one long season. Can we just boot them all and have an All-Star American Idol bringing back past contestants who didn't score a major record deal, but deserve one and send these talentless hacks back to whatever rock they crawled out from?

Anyways, I'll rank the boys.

1. Lee Dewyze: Even with the pitch problems in the chorus and the nervous performance he was the best of the night.

2. Michael Lynche: Good, but not current at all. He's Ruben 2.0.

Before I go on let me just say that the other 8 guys I didn't like at all. It's just a matter of who was worse.

3. Casey James: Glad the cougar jokes were left out tonight. He was a better guitar player than a singer and as we all know by now "this is a singing contest"* and he didn't do that all too well tonight.

4. Aaron Kelly: BORING! But his critique gave the best moment of the night when the audience laughed at Simon when he said Aaron should be more like Justin Bieber. No one should ever try to be like that 12 year old d-bag and America knows it.

5. John Park: Warning: Cannon Fodder Alert! Being forgettable is worse than being bad.

6. Alex Lambert: Umm, I didn't get it. My Richardson Syndrome must be kicking in for this season, which probably means he'll be around for a while. Come on Sparkle Cows and Fat Frau everywhere protect the name of A. Lambert!

7. Todrick Hall: Didn't work. End of Story.

8. Andrew Garcia: Why does he keep getting a free ride because of one good performance. Obviously it was a fluke! But I suppose we still hear about Vanilla Ice all the time and he didn't even have one good song.

9. Tim Urban: This guy kills me. He looks like he has a gun pointed at his head while he is singing. I'm hoping he gets voted off just so Jermaine can get the VFTW nod. He's way more entertaining.

10. Jermaine Sellers: I know God too. And he believes that for the good of American ears you need to go home, but he also has a sense of humor and thinks that leaving you on the show is a real riot.

Going Home: Todrick and John.

*This is a lie. American Idol is a nation wide popularity contest. Joe was the latest proof of this.

Not sure what that means by me eating there but yeah, got the name mixed up with Chilli Pepper's, a different restaurant that spells it with two l's, but at least you knew what I was talking about (as far as the commercials go).

I am sort of with Widdi on his thinking of who might go home this week. After another "dull" karaoke performance, John Park is definitely not going to be around another week. I think it was terrible what he did to that John Mayer song. I can't really carry a tune, but I think I could have done "Gravity" better than John Park did.

The show opened with Michael Lynche tearing up the stage with a James Brown song, "This is A Man's World", and he did the song justice and I think that we will be seeing a lot of him in the weeks to come.

Second up was John Park, and so we will skip any critique of his performance.

Third up was Casey James, who I am glad hasn't let the "cougar drool" tone his music down. He is a good guitarist, for sure, but his performance of that Gavin McGraw song just wasn't up to par. But I think he is safe this week.

Number four was Alex Lambert, who performed the John Legend song, "Everbody Knows", and while it was not great, it was a thousand percent better than last week, and I think he will skate through another week.

Halfway through we got Todrick Hall and his lame rendition of Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do With It". Thought he was dull, and brought nothing new to the song at all. Hope he goes home this week, and if not......

The sixth performer of the night was Jermaine Sellers, who butchered Marvin Gaye's "What's Goin On". This was by far the worst of the night, in my opinion and if they were sending three home, this guy would for sure be one of those three.

Andrew Garcia, who has been struggling ever since he blew the judges away with his rendition of Paula Abdul's "Straight Up", took a swing at "You Gave Me Something" by James Morrison, and just didn't quite make it in the judges eyes. He will get through another week, but had better be on is game next week.

Aaron Kelly took on The Temptations "My Girl", and almost got away with it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't showstopper material like we are used to seeing from guys of his caliber.

Tim Urban, may just be the dark horse of this bunch of guys. He fooled everybody with his version of "C'mon Get Higher". I liked it, but couldn't tell you why.........I just liked it.

The best of the night, although he has a long way to go, was Lee Dwyze, who ripped through "Lips of an Angel" by Hinder. He pulled a Chris Daughtry and made the song his own, and even with the slight pitch problems during the chorus made me a believer in what he has to offer.

So I think that for sure it is John Park and either Todrick Hall, or Jermaine Sellers that will be going home this week.

Let's hope that the girls can get it all together and perform with that extra days rest.

It was the girl's night to shine, and I think there were some truly bright spots in the night. I didn't agree with the judges all the time, but I am really becoming an Ellen Degeneres fan, she seems to get what this is all about.

First up was Crystal Bowersox, the young lady who was in the hospital on Tuesday night and the main reason why they switched the guys and girls nights the way they did. Crystal didn't let the party down. She got the night off on the right foot with a spiritual rendition of Creedance Clearwater's "As Long As I Can See The Light", and it really warmed up the audience and judges as well. She will be around for a while longer.

Next it was Haeley Vaughn, who I think has worn out her welcome here on "Idol". She did an absolutely direct copy of Miley Cyrus's "The Climb" and it didn't rise up to the occasion. I think she is the first to go this week.

Third up was Lacey Brown who sang "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None The Richer, and I thought she did a really good job with it, seeing as how it was suggested by Kara on last week's show.

Katie Stevens did Corinne Bailey Rae's "Put Your Records On", and I personally thought she did a pretty good job, but the judges ripped her a new one, and said that she should carry her lucky charms with her all day tomorrow.

Didi Benami, whom I thought was pretty good throughout the auditions, was terrible last week, and then she came on tonight and tried Bill Withers' "Lean on Me" for size, and failed miserably. She could have stood on the Idol stage for the last time tonight.

Michelle Delamor was the sixth girl on the stage and I thought did a great rendition of "With My Arms Wide Open" by Creed, but the judges thought differently. They said she should get through to the next round, but had better get her song choices tighter.

Lilly Scott brought the house down with her rendition of Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come". Now most of you UDers weren't even alive when this song was a monster hit for Sam Cooke, and it has maintained its classic status since day one, and it takes an original artist to make this song their own, and Lilly did just that. I think that we have a real dark horse here in the running for "American Idol" 2010.

Katelyn Epperly was very somber in her presentation of her version of "The Scientist" by Coldplay, and was chastised very fairly by all the judges.

Paige Miles put her blend of soul and rock in the Kelly Clarkson song "Walk Away" co-written by Kara DiGuardio. She did a pretty decent job, but the judges weren't blown away by it.

The capper of the evening was Siobhan Magnus, who blew the roof of the building with her version of "Think" by Aretha Franklin. I truly think and believe that this girl could be in the Top Four, if not in the Finals of this year's competition. Look Out!!!

Who's going home?? Pretty good question, but my guess and it is only a guess is: Haeley Vaughn and Didi Benami, or Lacey Brown.

Let's watch and see.

The girls earned their title as front runners this week... that being said none of them have platinum record selling power as far as I'm concerned.

Now before I get to my rankings I have to spend a few minutes ranking the judges on their levels of idiocy tonight:

1. Randy Jackson: Randy is a tool. We've known this since season one, but he's gotten more tool-ish every year. You can't give someone shit for changing the arrangement of a song and then give someone else shit for not changing the arrangement of a song. Seriously, with the number of times he said "you need to make the song your own... change it up, make it different" tonight I was totally expecting to hear a gunshot go off and have the camera pan to Todrick's lifeless body laying on the floor. No wonder contestants have such a hard time pleasing these morons. They have no idea what the hell they want.

2. Simon Cowell: K, first off "misunderestimate" is not a word. It's not ever close to a word. When did Bush become a judge, cause that's right out of his dictionary.

And then there was this line "It' sounds like you're singing in a competition" (meant as criticisim towards Lacey Brown). Umm... HELLO! That is exactly what the f**k she is doing you idiot! You can't get made at someone asking the judges for advice when that is what they are there for! I mean, seriously...

3. Kara DioGuardi: "When you sang You Oughta Know last week..." CRYSTAL NEVER SANG THAT SONG YOU STUPID TWIT. PAY ATTENTION! "What are you 16?" No, she's seventeen. You should know this by now.

It's obvious Kara really gives a crap about her job, don't you think?

4. Ellen DeGeneres: The smartest judge of the night, also the judge who is supposed to know the least out of any of this nimrods. Sad.

Ok... on to the actual contestants.

1. Crystal Bowersox
2. Siobhan Magnus
3. Katelyn Epperly
4. Katie Stevens
5. Lacey Brown
6. Lilly Scott
7. Michelle Delamor
8. Haeley Vaughn
9. Paige Miles
10. Didi Benami

Results night had just a couple of surprises, one being the appearance from last year's Idol, of Danny Gokey, more on that later.

The guys were first up, and there were no surprises here because it was John Park, and Jermaine Sellers who got booted off the show. Sadly we had suffer through another rendering by John Park of "Gravity", but thanks to my DVR I could speed through it and get to the next person to be booted off.

Jermaine Sellers, was just not ready for this type of atmosphere, he said all of his singing is in church and he challenged the judges to come see him perform in church. He just didn't bring anything new to the stage with his rendition of "What's Going On?", a classic hit by Marvin Gaye. So he paid the ultimate price by going home in week two.

Intermission entertainment was just that, as Danny Gokey brought his high-powered Country/Rock to the Idol stage and showed why he was a viable contender for most of the season.

Then it was back to the eliminations, this time the ladies were up. No a big surprise was the elmination of Haeley Vaughn, but I was totally taken aback that Michelle Delamor was the second one, when it should have been Didi Benami that should have been walking out the door.

The votes have been cast we have one more week of double elimination before we get to the Top 12 and down to the serious business of picking this year's American Idol.

It was girls night on American Idol and they shined for the most part. There were a couple of obvious weak spots, but the show as a whole was entertaining and sported a wide range of musical tastes.

Katie Stevens opened the show doing Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" and I thought she was just okay, but the judges mowed her down like new-grown grass.

Siobhan Magnus surprised everyone with her gutsy version of the 1964 Animals' hit "House of the Rising Sun". The judges were split on her performance but Simon said she would be around for a while longer.

Lacey Brown did a song that I wasn't the least big familiar with and neither were the judges as she got hit pretty hard by all four of them.

Katelyn Epperly, piano and all, did Carole King's "I Feel The Earth Move" and the best thing said about the performance was Simon "Liked your hair"!!!

Didi Benami surprised everyone with a great version of Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon". The judges all said that this was her moment.

Paige Miles basically just phoned in her version of the Charlie Chaplin penned song, "Smile". No one liked it, not even her. She is for sure the one to leave the show this week.

Crystal Bowersox proved that she is the heads-on favorite to win it all when she blasted her way through Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason". The judges were all in unison as they praised her stage presence and her way of making the song her own.

Lilly Scott warbled her way through what I thought was the second worst performance of the night, doing Patsy Cline's "I Fall To Pieces", but the judges for some unknown reason thought she was over-the-top, and proved she can do what it takes to win this competition.

My picks for who goes home Thursday night would be Paige Miles and Katelyn Epperly, although I would like to see Lilly Scott in the bottom two just to make her think about her performance.

So I've seen both shows now and the reviews are in:

Girls:

1. Siobhan Magnus
2. Crystal Bowersox
3. Lilly Scott
4. Didi Benami
5. Katie Stevens
6. Lacey Brown
7. Katelyn Epperly
8. Paige Miles

Overall it was a pretty boring show full of slow songs and snore inducing arrangements. Siobhan really threw herself into the top of the pack and Paige kamikazed big time.

Girls Going Home: Lacey Brown for being totally forgettable and Paige Miles for making nobody "smile".

The "almost as boring" boys:

1. Michael Lynche
2. Lee Dewyze
3. Todrick Hall
4. Tim Urban
5. Casey James
6. Aaron Kelly
7. Alex Lambert
8. Andrew Garcia

Andrew has proved to be a one-hit wonder. Casey is sinking fast, but isn't sunk and Tim might just have to be replaced as our VFTW pick.

Boys Being Booted: Andrew Garcia for being "Straight Up" awful and Alex Lambert for being boring... and willingly sporting a mullet.

Possible Alternatives: Todrick Hall for doing too little too late and Katelyn Epperly for failing to move anyone.

It was the guy's night to howl tonight, but it more like a groan in the beginning and then ended with a gigantic lion's roar!!

Lee Dewyze opened the show with a boring rendition of "Fireflies" from Owl City. It okay, but not the big number we have come to expect from Lee.

Alex Lambert may have hoisted the surrender flag tonight with his rendition of Ray LaMontagne's "Trouble". It was truly forgettable.

Tim Urban collected some positive vibes from the judges with his version of the Leonard Cohen song "Hallelujah" by Tim Buckley. It was done very well with some great touches to the melody, and may have saved Tim from obscurity tonight.

Andrew Garcia may have just blown his last chance for survival tonight with his warbling of Christine Aguilera's "Genie In The Bottle". It was just a second-rate performance who hasn't managed to top his audition performance of Paula Abdul's "Straight Up".

Casey Jones won a lot of the judges over with his version of Keith Urban's "You'll Think of Me". He was in his own zone with this song and may be earned a seat with the Top 12.

Aaron Kelly took a chance with Lone Star's "I'm Already There", and may have blown it, although I liked it a lot better than the judges did. But I think he will be safe.

Todrick Hall got everyone on their feet with his toxic version of Queen's "Somebody to Love". It was exactly what the judges were expecting and sealed his seat for next week.

Michael Lynche burned the hall down with his fiery version of Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work". He actually made Kara DeGuardio cry, and all four judges were in unison is saying he is the one to beat this year.

My choice to leave the show are Alex Lambert and Andrew Garcia.

Just to leave a quick comment--for some reason, I've lost my urge to comment on this show--am I the only one who noticed that Kara Dioguardi didn't have a single tear in her eye when she raved about Lynche's sub-standard performance? Her makeup wasn't even smudged; if you're going to lie, at least do it properly. When Simon called her out on her idiotic remarks earlier with Aaron, that just made the whole show worth watching. I'm sorry, but all her comments read as if she's trying to be Paula, except her voice is more gratiating and she's not at all endearing. Glad Simon's perceptive enough to ditch this. I'll be watching The X Factor.

For those who may say "this is about the singing, not about the judges," I would agree--but, because the judges talk more than the contestants sing, how likable they are does affect the rest of the show. And Kara's just bringing it all down for me, even more than last season.

About the singing, the only people I care about are Casey James, Tim Urban, and Lee Dewyze. All the girls suck; they can't all be original if they're all the same, okay? (It's also interesting to note that most of the songs Megan chose last season have been sung here; it's just confusing that after Megan tanked so badly, they would choose 10 or so girls who are carbon copies of her). Kara is clearly to fault for this season having the worst talent ever. Simon can't out-voice Randy, Kara and Ellen. Let's face it, he's the only judge anyone cares about--why do they get a vote at all?

Which show were you watching Disney's Divinity??? I was watching American Idol on Wednesday evening on my Hi-Def television and you could clearly see the tears in Kara's eyes, and the slight smudge of her makeup. I think you were looking elsewhere when this all went down. You could clearly tell she was emotionally involved in that song with Michael Lynche.

As for your opinions of the Girl's talent, I think that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I really think that you are trying to compare Apples to Oranges here. There are a couple of the girls who are heads above the Guys in the talent race, but I think that this year it is Michael Lynche's to lose.

Haha, Giraud had the growth on in his forehead removed, and surprisingly he still looks like a poor man's Timberlake. His singing wasn't that bad, but Scott's was terrible. Hard to believe he was in the top 8 last year. Also what a random duo to promote...

Anyways both my alternate picks went home.... so... I guess I got it somewhat right. Well, right with an asterisk anyways.

For a second there I was really scared for Lee. Glad he pulled through. Pissed about Lilly though. Now I'll admit I love watching bad (aka entertaining) contestants go further than they rightfully should, but when boring fodder (I'm looking at you Lacey and Didi) beats out actual interesting talent I get mad.

I'm not a Stones fan, so next week is not gonna be good for me, but I'm interested to see the train wreck performances we are all but guaranteed.

The night was full of surprises and those who should have gone home ended up getting put through, so we as viewers and voters get to suffer a little more from a contestant with little or not talent.

I agree with Widdi (Oh my God! Not again!!!) Lilly Scott should have been voted through, she was one of the few interesting contestants on the girls side.

Alex Lambert and Todrick Hall being the go-homers didn't bother me as much as seeing Lilly Scott get the boot. I picked Kaetlyn Epperly to be one of the girls to go home, but I thought, honestly, that Lilly Scott would probably go through, after watching the show again on my DVR.

The intermission music was probably the worst we have had this season, and I can't believe that they picked Matt and Scott to do a 'piano-man-duo' with a Billy Joel song.

But I have to disagree with Widdi about next week's song choices coming from the Rolling Stones songbook. Next to Lennon/McCartney the Rolling Stones are pretty damn relevant to today's music, and here we are almost fifty years later and the Stones are still recording and touring. It will be very interesting hearing the choices made, and I am looking forward to seeing Michael Lynche runaway with the competition this year.

First, I want to say how much I like the addition of Ellen DeGeneres as a judge on the panel this year. She has not been swayed by the other judges, she speaks from her heart, and seems to back up everything she says.

I was an 'Ellen DeGenerate' hater for quite some time, I still can't stand her television show, but as a judge on American Idol, I am beginning to warm up to hear very well.

Now to the business at hand. Last night's Top 12 was pretty awkward at some point, because the one's that were supposed to be 'great' were 'just okay' and the one's that were supposed to struggle came out with both guns blazing. Among my favorites were Michael Lynche, Siobhan Magnus, Katie Stevens and Aaron Kelly.

Here's how it went on the night that Idol saluted the music of The Rolling Stones and MIck Jagger and Keith Richard:

Michael Lynche came out first with a blazng version of "Miss You" and got the show off to a rousing start.

Didi Benami took a real rocker of a song and slowed it down to a totally different pace and wowed everyone with her take on "Play With Fire".

Casey James proved he is basically a rocker, with his heart and soul in Country as he did a pretty decent version of "It's All Over Now".

Lacey Brown made a valiant effort with her version of "Ruby Tuesday", but the judges weren't buying it.

Andrew Garcia, who has yet to top his Hollywood Week performance of Paula Abdul's "Straight Up", gave us heartless version of "Gimme Shelter".

Katie Stevens, who has been asked to "get younger" in her choice of songs, was faced with the dilemma of how does she choose a song from a list of Stones music that dates back to 1963. She proudly blew the crowd away with "Wild Horses" and impressed the judges for the most part.

Tim Urban was the weakest of all the performers last night as he tripped, stumbled and fell all over himself trying to take a straight out (boring in Simon's words) rocker and turn it into a reggae song and failing miserably. He has definitely worn out his welcome on Idol.

Siobhan Magnus blew the roof of the theater with her smoldering version of "Paint It Black". Again she had a moment with a brilliant high note and a torching ending. All the judges were impressed.

Lee DeWyze again proved he needs to be here with his rendition of "Beast of Burden". While not his best effort, Simon said, "I want to some of your personality on that stage".

Paige Miles took on one of the Stones' biggest hits "Honky Tonk Woman" and made it her own. She showed the judges why she should be in the competition. She was cursed all week with laryngitis, but came out with both guns blazing, and impressed Simon, if only because she hadn't been able to rehearse all week.

Aaron Kelly, who is not blessed with the huge voice that others have, won the hearts of everyone with his version of "Angie", and pleased all four judges.

Closing the show this week was Crystal Bowersox who belted out "You Can't Always Get What You Want". The judges were amazed at how 'comfortable' she was on the stage, and that she proved she was there to 'win it all'.

All in all it was a pretty good show, and my pick to go home is either Tim Urban or Lacey Brown.

No review or predictions from me this week. I completely forgot the show was on last night.

Oops.

Last night actually wasn't so bad (finally). I was never worried about Ellen, but those first few weeks were a bit awkward and uncomfortable (sometimes I would forget she was on the judges board). Regardless, she's come into her role now; she looked really well-dressed last night. And thank god Kara talked less last night. Ugh.

I was really surprised by Siobhan. I still don't like her voice very much, and she reminds me of Claire Danes in Temple Grandin when she gets to the chorus/shout-y moments of her songs, but the beginning and end of her "Paint it Black" were beautiful. I think that was the first 'moment' this season's had.

Paige and Aaron, to me, have the same problem. They both sound good, but their voices shake way too much. Still, last night was the best they've both done to me (Aaron did really good). Paige actually showed talent in those big chorus moments, but all that vibrato, which I'm not sure they can control, ends up ruining it for me.

Casey did an okay performance, but he needs to work on his stage presence; not moving might've worked before, but the stage is bigger now, and it makes the performance stale to do a song like that and not move around. Lee Dewyze is still a favorite of mine though the past two weeks have been so-so. To me, he seems more authentic as a hard rock singer (rather than pop-rock like Daughtry and Cook). Also, Crystal is probably the best girl this season. If she won--and they are determined for a girl to win--she's the only one I wouldn't be embarassed to see do it. But I most likely wouldn't buy her CDs; not my type of music.

As for Tim Urban--I have not heard the original song--but he sounded fine to me. I'm not crazy about reggae either, but he didn't "trip" all over himself. I think it's funny that he wasn't chosen originally, and yet he's done a lot better than many others that made it through. I honestly have no idea why people are so dead-set against him. He picked a few "been there, done that" songs in the beginning, but so did everybody! That's why I was so glad we got to the themed weeks, since everybody seems stupid at picking songs this season. I'm glad VftW is on his side--maybe they'll actually help someone good stay for once. :P

My picks to go would be Didi and Lacey. These Jewel/Alanis/Swift-wannabes need to go. And Garcia has completely lost my interest with "Genie In A Bottle." He might as well go, too.
