Mickey's Christmas Carol: The original recording

Post by pap64 »

After reading UD's review of Mickey's Christmas Carol I decided to watch it around YouTube. Then, I discovered something I thought you guys might like...

Mickey's Christmas Carol originally started as a recording by the Disney players done in the 70s. It's identical to the short film with the exception that the ghost of Christmas past was played by Merlin from Sword in the Stone, and the ghost of Christmas future was played by the witch from Snow White. The men that were asking money for the poor were played by Gideon Cat and Honest John from Pinnocchio. In the film version the men are played by Mole and Rat from Wind in the Willows.

It also has far more songs whereas the short film had just one. Both are great interpretations of the classic story, however, and are classic Disney.

Here are the videos:

Wow, so cool to see this, thanks for posting! I actually have the original record, but it's been so long since I've listened since I haven't had a turntable in years. :)

I also have the LP of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" soundtrack and the Storyteller album in book form. These are from my personal collection. I might do a video of that soon on YouTube in honor of the Diamond Edition Blu-Ray/DVD release.

Ah, great find pap! I was curious about the connection. I recently picked up the record and thought it was odd and interesting the differences between that and the eventual featurette.
