I don't know if these were listed anywhere, if not perhaps these should/could be added as well?

- Freddie the Frog (Universal)
- Tom and Jerry The Movie (F.H.E, Family Home Entertainment)
- Snow Queen (Readers Digest)
- Secret of NIMH 2 (MGM)
- The Secret of the Hunchback (UAV Entertainment)
- The Princess and the Goblin (Hemdale Home Video)
- The Magic Voyage (The Dove Foundation)
- G.I Joe: The Movie (Sunbow/Marvel/Celebrity Just For Kids)
- Fern Gully The Last Rainforest (20th Century Fox)

You might want to double check the studios I listed in brackets, that was just the name that I saw on the dvd/vhs cover :lol:

Well, he did say of Western origin... That would exclude Ghibli.

I wanted to add a couple more: Igor, Space Chimps, and Fly Me to the Moon.

So ...

2099net, I just updated the list with the three films you found out about.

littlefuzzy and Chernabog_Rocks, I just researched most of the films you listed (and discovered new ones in the process :P) and will be adding them shortly to the list under their respective studio names.

In fact, I'll be adding a ton of new animation studios:

Laika
BUF Compagnie
DNA Productions
Rankin/Bass Productions, Inc.
Starz Animation
Vanguard Animation
C.O.R.E. Feature Animation
Klasky Csupo, Inc.
Film Roman
Hollywood Animation Studios
Rough Draft Studios, Inc.
Omation Animation
Snee-Oosh Inc.
Sparx*
Animal Logic
Arnold Leibovit Entertainment
Kanbar Animation

Phew! That's a lot! :) But it makes my head spin to think of the others and others that must remain to be added, as well as independent animators, past and present.

One more thing. I've not been able to find out the studio/s that animated the following:

1991 - The Nightmare Before Christmas
1992 - Ferngully: The Last Rainforest
1996 - James and the Giant Peach
2006 - Corpse Bride
2008 - Fly Me to the Moon

Can anybody help? Thanks! 8)

Also, I'm not including Transformers: The Movie since it was produced by the Japanese Toei. Studio Ghibli will not be mentioned for now either, magicalwands. :P Perhaps in the future I'll attempt to list Japanese Studios, but I've got enough to do for now.

As for Dark Crystal, it appears to be a Jim Henson production featuring puppets, which is, however, not animated.

Other films Chernabog_Rocks listed that I've yet to look up:

The Snow Queen (is this the Russian version?)
The Secret of the Hunchback
The Princess and the Goblin
The Magic Voyage
G.I. Joe: The Movie

(I'm not including DTV productions. The list is only for theatrical animated films, be they crappy or magnificent).

See ya!

EDIT: ajm, I can't find out where Jonah was animated ... Apparently the 2nd film was done at a different studio, though. :?

I remember owning a version of the Snow Queen on VHS. Can't remember what studio, though.

Have you tried IMDB, and click on Company Credits (under Overview) for each?

I don't know if that has everything, but for instance:
Coraline shows - Laika Entertainment and Pandemonium as the production companies.

Corpse Bride has a handful:
* Warner Bros. Pictures
* Tim Burton Animation Co.
* Laika Entertainment
* Patalex Productions
* Tim Burton Productions
* Will Vinton Studios

I'm not really sure which would be the primary animation company...

I don't have time for a large reply, but I listed (I think) any studios that were mentioned on the vhs covers of the movies I listed to help you out Julian :) I suggest trying those studio names first maybe you'll find more info from there.

Also, Siren might be able to help you out with Fern Gully, I recall she's a fan of the movie.

Here's hoping they don't make Babar a real (CGI) elephant.
