is the dumbo ride going away

Post by schoollover »

I read in an article in the disney theme park forum about the little mermaid ride that is going to be built, but in an article found in the thread it said that to make way for the little mermaid ride that their going to have to move dumbo. I didn't know if that meant that they were taking the ride away or just moving to a different location. can someone help me out.[/quote]

It could mean that they'll just relocate it.

I think I may have read the same article as you, and what I think they mean is that they're just going to move it elsewhere. I can't imagine they would get rid of it, it's like a landmark for WDW. It would be upsetting if they did get rid of it though, I haven't been on it since I was little, only because the lines are insanely long for it.

If the proposed area for TLM attraction is where 20,000 Leagues, Pooh's Playful Spot and Ariel's Grotto are/were I don't see why they'd need to relocate Dumbo, although it's possible depending on how large a space is needed. I don't think they would ever remove Dumbo entirely, but I'm sure many Mr Toad fans said the same thing...

This wouldn't be the first time the Dumbo ride has been relocated. I believe Disneyland's Dumbo and Carousel were moved during the Fantasyland refurbishment in the 80's when the teacups were moved closer to Alice's dark ride. I also seem to remember hearing something about Tokyo Disneyland's Dumbo needing to be moved, but I may be wrong.

We're talking WDW here and IF Mermaid get's built it MIGHT be moved depending upon the size of the ride (20K's plot was huge though to begin with). Disney would never get rid of it entirely because it's so outrageously popular.

As for Toad, the WDW version in terms of track size and number, visual styling, length, exterior look etc was an entirely different animal from the DL version which thankfully does still exist.
