Could Snow White Look Better?
If Snow White were released this year or next ON DVD do you think it would look better than its original 2001 release? I think so from examples like Cinderella, Bambi, and Lady & the Tramp. All look as if they were made in present day, but with an old fashion hand-drawn style. I wonder if there is a way to improve on the restoration we have gotten with Cinderella and Bambi? I think if they did it anymore the films would almost loose their integrity.
Wants Muppet Babies on DVD!!
Hopefully if Duckales and Rescue Rangers sell well we will get it!! Don't forget Gummi Bears!

I'm sure you meant Blu-Ray, not DVD?jamminjake245 wrote:If Snow White were released this year or next ON DVD do you think it would look better than its original 2001 release?
Anyway, I don't know how much better it could look, the 2001 restoration is wonderful. But it sure could SOUND better if they replaced SW's godawful-screeching-nails-on-a-chalkboard-too-high-to-be-human voice...

Exactly, that's probably the main reason i don't enjoy SW, i haven't watched the film in years, and when i did, i turned it off in the first few minutes.Escapay wrote: But it sure could SOUND better if they replaced SW's godawful-screeching-nails-on-a-chalkboard-too-high-to-be-human voice...
As for restoration, it's a double edged sword for me, sure I want to see my favourites looking crisp and clear, but they won't be as a I remembered them. (if you know what i mean)
I can't imagine TLM in anything other from grainy and darkish colours, so in that way I don't like restoration that much, but it does have its good points. But why should SW look brand new? I think its oldish style appeals to people, and seperates it from modern Disney projects.

well my TLM laserdisc doesn't look grainy, and had bright, pure colors (yellow fish, green mermaid bottom, red hair, blue water, all technicolor like!) but mine wasn't made from a grainy drab print so
As i say almost every week here, yes they can look better, in the very least in the sharpness and detail department from what you've seen on plain old 480 line NTSC DVD.
Snow White's negative is 15.24mm tall and TLM's is 11.33mm tall while Harry Potter's is just 10mm tall! And i'm sure Luke can tell you that watching a 10mm negative blown up to IMAX from less than the distance of full picture height looks fine
(that's like watching a movie on a 50" TV from less than 2 feet away
Try that with a dvd
)

I only have the video which was bought just after i was born, so it's probably down to its age.deathie mouse wrote:well my TLM laserdisc doesn't look grainy, and had bright, pure colors (yellow fish, green mermaid bottom, red hair, blue water, all technicolor like!) but mine wasn't made from a grainy drab print so![]()
