Re: You won't believe this...
I can't remember having this sort of trouble with Amazon, but that doesn't matter. You don't have to order from Amazon, you know. There are lots of online stores. I haven't ordered wave 5 yet, but I guess I'll get mine from DVD Pacific.Pluto Region1 wrote:Well just when I thought it could not get any worse.... after dropping off the return to Amazon at the post office, I came home to find the next Amazon Tin order sitting on my doorstep.

Re: You won't believe this...
Just a thought here. This is not all about me, but the larger picture. Yes, I realize that I don't have to buy from them - I live in So. California and can go to the brick and mortar stores in December for Wave 5. But what about the folks who don't have a choice, who live outside of the USA? Don't they deserve to have some care taken in the handling of their tins? I've read in this thread that some don't care about the condition of the tins, but I'm sure far more do. Just look at the Amazon's market seller's ads "NEW, NO DENTS" etc. So if this problem can be corrected with Amazon, think about all the happy customers vs. all the angry disappointed customers who will have to return their tins? Not only that, but they are destroying a limited commodity here - these are limited editions - Disney's not gonna make new tins because Amazon destroyed thousands of them. Destroyed Amazon tins will drive prices up in the secondary market for undamaged tins. Let's see if they can address this problem so people can order the tins from them with confidence.Lars Vermundsberget wrote:I can't remember having this sort of trouble with Amazon, but that doesn't matter. I've ordered products from Amazon for many years and this is the first problem I've ever had with them. Sending my Pluto tin in nothing but a thin cardboard zip-envelope (that has no padding at all), is totally unacceptible.
Pluto Region1, I know this is obviously a very important issue to you, but I can't help but think you're over-reacting just a shade - unless the tins were really bashed-in dented. Trust me, there will come the day when the tin slides out of your hand and hits something and then it will be dented with no hope of replacement.
If you're fed up with Amazon's packaging, try DVD Pacific. They pack in nice little cardboard boxes stuffed with screwed-up paper for protection, and I've received most of my Treasures from them in tip-top condition despite being sent half-way around the world. (They're based in Florida, though, so you might have to give them a week or two to get back up and running again.)
Anyway, you wait, after a couple of years the tins start going rusty...

Yes, there is a choice, or several, even for those of us who live outside of the USA.
One of them is called DVD Pacific.
I totally agree, MK Sharp, DVD Planet's cardboard boxes should be able to take one h*** of a beating.
But, of course, if Amazon is getting careless with their packaging, it's quite all right to complain about it.

Well, I've never had any problems with packaging like you describe. But I've always pre-ordered the entire wave at a time. So my Amazon packages have always come in boxes with lots of air-padding bags, and the tins securely fastened to the base via plasic wrapping.Pluto Region1 wrote: Just a thought here. I honestly think Amazon have the best packaging I've ever seen for mail orders.

Re: You won't believe this...
Yes, normally I agree. I've ordered from them for years and never had anything arrive in a cardboard ziplock bag - weird! Now the next 2 tins I am expecting, according to them, they will be shipped together - one is the MM in Color and the other is the "Rarities" - they can't put both of those in the ziplock bag - so hopefully I will get their usual box with the padded air bags (that is usually how everything has arrived, even when all I've ordered was a softbound single book!) It is strange... it is like the warehouse personnel have lost their minds or something.2099net wrote:Well, I've never had any problems with packaging like you describe. LOL, yeah, you are probably right about that - they'll get rusty on me. As for now I am admiring the nice (almost perfect) Pluto tin on my credenza. I am really not exaggerating. The first tin arrived in the box but no air bags... the 2nd arrives in a cardboard mailer with nothing to protect it from being dropped etc.... you Amazon customers will all be thanking me if I can resolve this.MK Sharp wrote:Pluto Region1, I know this is obviously a very important issue to you, but I can't help but think you're over-reacting just a shade - unless the tins were really bashed-in dented..... Thank you for letting me know about DVD Pacific. I'd never heard of them and will look into them.
Since I been such a loyal customer of Amazon for so long, I have some faith that perhaps they will issue a memo to the warehouse or something. I am going to keep my order for the other 2 tins with Amazon, and if they arrive jacked up, well I'll just return them and get the tins elsewhere. I would just like to resolve it with Amazon for everyone's benefit.
Pluto,
Is the Padded envelope a Marketplace purchase because all Amazon orders are shipped in box? I order a lot from the Marketplace which usually comes in the padded envelope. However, I am usually less concerned about the box/slipcovers/tins and just want to save $$$$$.
Unfortunately, past Treasures are OOPPP so you are stuck on the Marketplace or worst yet E-bay. If you pre-order your Treasures, It will come in a box.

I almost always get my Treasures at the Disney Store, and about 60% of the time, they have been slightly dented. Usually I don't notice until after I've made the purchase.
This used to be bother me, but I am more concerned about keeping my discs in good shape. I returned the MMC tin because one of the discs came off the case spindle and was considerably scratched.

Well it was an order from Amazon and not one of the private sellers there. Usually when I ordered something from their private sellers (marketplace) it came in the seller's own packaging, not in anything labled "Amazon." In over the 10+ years of ordering new items from Amazon, I have never seen anything arrive in a cardboard envelope. You guys do know what I am talking about right? This is like the type of zip-open envelope that FED EX uses for small reports?creid wrote:Pluto,

I went over to Ebay after someone mentioned them as a source for the tins. I had been afraid to check there first, figured the price would get steep in a bidding war. Looks like I may have made a tactical error with that assumption. It looks like the prices might not be that bad and they are listing the tin's condition.

Ok, update from Amazon customer service
I know you guys are getting sick of this thread, so this is the last post about it unless there's a question from anyone. I had received a reply from Amazon to my detailed email. Their reply is not a form letter but specifically addresses the issue. Once again, Amazon proves to be one of the top online ordering companies to deal with. (Please refer to my earlier post on the specifics of what I emailed them. Yes, I took the discount and decided to live with the small dents on the Pluto tin. The damage not significant enough to hassle with returning it and trying to find a private seller with an undamaged tin):

That was nice of them! I suggest you don't order any more treasures off online stores. 75% of the time they get dented during shipping.Pluto Region1 wrote:Based on the condition in which the Walt Disney Treasures - The

Tins from Buy.com just arrived; not a scratch!
Yeah, I am not a good candidate for mail order! Unfortunately I am late to this game and none of the stores have Wave 1, 2, 3 or 4. I had to go online to order the older tins.
Ironically the 2 "On the Front Lines" tins I'd ordered from Buy.com just arrived in perfect condition. I'd ordered all these tins the same night so the order from Buy.com was before I knew the risks! Anyway, I had found out after the fact that Buy.com has a horrible reputation for customer service and they are notorious for saying it is "in stock" when it really isn't. To my surprise the tins arrived in a timely manner and in perfect condition. They were packed in a heavy non-padded cardboard mailer, so it is more luck than anything else, that they are in perfect condition. I could not believe my eyes, I kept looking them over and over again for any dents. So far, I see nothing wrong. They probably still have more "On the Front Lines" tins, but based on their reputation, I cannot recommend them.

I checked my tins (all 14 and a few duplicates). They all look pretty nice to me and they all come from online stores across the Atlantic...

I throw out my tins as well. I keep all of my dvds in slip cover books that makes it very easy to find what I need. I have four of the big books just devoted to Disney--a little overboard my wife thinks.
