Honoring Frank Thomas on Oscars

Post by FantasiaMan »

I'm so glad that they honored the great animator Frank Thomas on the Academy Awards this evening. I couldn't believe how much the audience applauded when his name showed up on the Memorium list with probably his two most famous scenes he ever did: Thumper and Bambi ice skating and the famous spagetti scene in Lady and the Tramp while drawing in the foreground. So many people in that audience including great actors and directors really appreciated and knew of his great work. I really choked up when it happened. He is now beside his fellow old men as well as his boss, Walt Disney himself. I think we should all have a couple moments of silence for one of the greatest legends in animation history.

We will never forget you, Frank Thomas

I was absolutely crushed when I heard of his passing. I wondered if the world realized what it had lost.

I am very appreciative of the tribute on the Oscars. You won't find many people on this earth that are not familiar with at least one of the scenes that either he or Ollie worked on. He has been and will continue to be sorely missed. My heart goes out to his lifelong friend, Ollie, this must be especialy difficult for him to deal with.

Has anyone seen the Frank and Ollie documentary? If not, go get it. Right now. It's a fun and amazing film; you won't be disappointed. You'll also get some insight on the lives of two creative and very kind men.

The little scene was perfect, him drawing, Bambi iceskating, Lady and Tramp eating spaghetti.

I watche the documentary only yesterday and it was the saddest thing ever knowing he was no longer there. Ollie must be miserable right now. Rest in Peace

I felt the same way too. He will be forever missed as well as the other great actor Marlon Brando.

I know this is bad, but I had forgotten about his passing. So then when I saw it, I was shocked all over again. He lives on in his art, though, and that's why it seemed so surprising because he is always with his fans through the amazing work he's done. It also led me to have a discussion with the people watching the oscars with me.
Frank Thomas, Ronald Reagan, Johnny Carson. All big figures that will surely be missed.
