Re: Aladdin on Broadway
If Disney is producing it, you probably wouldn't even notice the difference unless you know the original show really well. Most very successful Broadway shows have a 1st National Tour, that is essentially a total copy of the Broadway version, only possible to play in larger theatres and then a 2nd National Tour, that cuts the most extravagant stuff and have a smaller set so it can play on cities with theatres not so big. A good example is Wicked, whose 2nd National Tour lacks the balconies (so Madame Morrible gives her Defying Gravity from the wings, for example) and sometimes play in theatres where Elphaba isn't able to come out of the stage (both for No Good Deed and the finale)

Re: Aladdin on Broadway
I'm glad I got to see Aladdin on its National Tour then and maybe I'll check out this smaller production if it comes near home.

Rumor: Disney's Broadway Musical Aladdin To Premiere on Disney+ Following Hamilton Success?
Aladdin for a nice end of the year holiday event?
http://filmedonstage.com/news/271-disne ... on-successWhile Disney was originally planning to release "Aladdin" earlier this year, plans changed when another Broadway musical, "Hamilton", was fast-tracked to the streaming platform from its original October 2021 theatrical release.
With Disney now desperately seeking new content to keep new customers that joined the platform for "Hamilton", the streaming platform is rumored to continue the Broadway trend this year with the release of "Aladdin: Live From The West End" just before the end of the year.

Yes, that's great!
Re: Aladdin on Broadway
I didn't know they filmed it. How reliable is this source?
If that's true, hopefully they'll release The Lion King as well.

I'd love to see Aladdin again! I doubt they'll add it but it would be grand if they included Beauty and the Beast as well.

Re: Aladdin on Broadway
I wonder: Obviously Disney bought the rights to Hamilton, meaning that LMM & Co. we're selling, even though the show is still a smash hit everywhere. But would Disney be willing to put TLK proshot out when its still such a big hit? Aladdin has been a big hit, too, and it is still on Broadway. With a new version of B&tB coming, I'd think B&tB would be a maybe, and I see no reason not to put TLM or Tarzan on, if they have proshots. I believe Mary Poppins came back to the West End, and may still be touring, so I can see them holding off on that. With Aida maybe being used in the future for a project, maybe they'd hold off on that, too. I'm grateful for Newsies!!

I don't know how reliable they are in general, but yes, they did film Aladdin. They can't put The Lion King because so far there isn't a filming of the show done for broadcast, which is fairly different than filming for archiving or marketing.farerb wrote:I didn't know they filmed it. I assume the new version of Beauty and the Beast is only being done with the end goal of being filmed, which is why they're essentially reconstructing an even better version of the original Broadway production with the same creative team. And unless we hear of Disney putting on a new production of the old shows, they don't have broadcast versions of them.

I wonder what website or streaming service has that listing. It doesn't have a Disney+ logo, and the interface is not that of Disney+ (well, not in the US anyway). But I'm beyond happy with this coming to D+!

I'm not sure if it's on anywhere else too, but there's a listing for it on Apple TV.blackcauldron85 wrote:I wonder what website or streaming service has that listing. It doesn't have a Disney+ logo, and the interface is not that of Disney+.

By the way, here's the cast that was part of the filming.

Re: Aladdin on Broadway
Thank you for sharing those screenshots!! I'm not familiar with AppleTV, but it does mention Disney+ in that second screenshot.
Okay, I just went on Twitter, where I asked the OP the other day where the screenshot was from, and this person said: https://twitter.com/foREVer71910/status ... 2300253184
"Just found it myself. When I tap on play it takes me to the D+ App."
So I'm going to assume it was on AppleTV like you posted. But when I go to Disney+ and search for "Aladdin," it does not show up. I don't understand. Maybe it's not in the US yet...

It's not available anywhere yet. There may be a listing on Apple TV, but when you click on it, it redirects you to Disney+ and displays the message "The requested media is not available. Please try again."blackcauldron85 wrote:But when I go to Disney+ and search for "Aladdin," it does not show up. I don't understand. Maybe it's not in the US yet...
